Vilter *SPOTLIGHTED*

hi all, finally managed to publish my new level. Levelname: VILTER Psn: mother-misty Location: north africa your goal... keep the bubble-multiplier running a go for the high-score (now... where did we hear that before? yep, this level was inspired by Jaeden's Tye Dye) some things to keep in mind... - you have about 1 second to catch your next bubble before the multiplier chain breaks, so you've got to be pretty fast, multipliers of 30x or more are perfectly possible - keep in mind that if you jump, you always land on the highest layer some pics enjoy! cheers, misty. | 2009-06-24 17:32:00 Author: Mother-Misty Posts: 574 |
I see the level but its apparently locked, you have to go to another level for the key? | 2009-06-24 20:50:00 Author: Waldo Posts: 108 |
I see the level but its apparently locked, you have to go to another level for the key? ohh, ****, my fault, it was locked, i've republished and unlocked it now cheers, misty. | 2009-06-24 22:36:00 Author: Mother-Misty Posts: 574 |
5 stars - Heart. Loved this level. It's one of those levels you need to play a couple of times before you really start to find your groove. I know you must have had a lot of fun building and playing this one. The colors are sublime. The bubbles and combo potential seems infinite. The level feels enormous and alive. Fantastic job timing your mechanisms and placing your bubbles. I'm humbled to have inspired something like this. Will be playing it many more times to push the leaderboard. Bravo. | 2009-06-24 23:35:00 Author: Jaeyden Posts: 564 |
Really cool level! Beautiful colors in even more beautiful combinations. Tricky to pull off combos for me but enjoyed it all the way through. 5 stars & hearted. Thanks for sharing it and Thanks to Jaeyden for inspiring it! | 2009-06-25 05:04:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
I sat there with a notepad and a pencil while playing this looking for weak points.... I couldn't find any. This level is really well designed. I loved the different moving layers taking you to different areas. I'm going to need to go back and play it a few times to pick up a higher score - I was pretty far behind, but thoroughly enjoyed it. I could definately see the Tye Dye influence, but it's got it's own rhythm and style. Great job - this was an easy 5 stars and a heart. | 2009-06-25 05:14:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Highest I got was a 16x multiplier. Yeah that is one hell of a level, my only complaint just has to do with stupid auto jumping and thats not even your fault. Great concept you have there. To colors were fantastic, maybe some spot lights set on fog would be kind of cool and what not. You deserve those 5 stars definately | 2009-06-25 20:07:00 Author: Waldo Posts: 108 |

Thank you so much for the kind words jaeyden! Makes me really happy you had a fun time playing it. Your tye dye level has been a huge inspiration for me, i'm kind of addicted to making combo's now I really had a fun time making this. i love to experiment with those shapes and layers, so much that i sometimes forget that i'm building a level and have to add some obstables and bubbles. The only thing that is kind of annoying (well.. REALLY annoying) is that **** sticker bug (please Mm, fix this, give us a paintbucket!) stickering such big objects is really a clumsy way or working To colors were fantastic, maybe some spot lights set on fog would be kind of cool and what not. You deserve those 5 stars definately I really wish i could do that! But the thermo is at 100% (and i really mean 100%) So there aren't much options to add anything to the level. I still had a lot of idea's i wanted to add, but i couldn't so i left it the way it was and started making vilter2 instead btw: i'm planning on doing a contest with this level to win some xp points (and maybe some other stuff as well) but i've got to find out how to do that first, so start practicing in the meanwhile misty. | 2009-06-26 22:52:00 Author: Mother-Misty Posts: 574 |
i'm planning on doing a contest with this level to win some xp points (and maybe some other stuff as well) but i've got to find out how to do that first, so start practicing in the meanwhile There's an item in the shop that allows you give XP away in a contest. It costs 500 points, so you have more than enough. Your level looks fantastic, but I just turned off the PS3, so it'll have to wait until later... Edit: later happened. I played through twice, and I can see how it can become pretty addicting. I only managed to get a 17x multiplier - it seems there's one section that's very conducive to high multipliers. At the time, I nabbed the #15 spot, but I may work some more at it, especially if you are going to offer XP in a contest. You complained about problems with the large, bright stickers, but I didn't notice anything wrong... hmmm. It was a super good time, tough, and I only had one spot that gave me major trouble (let's see how explaining this goes): There was one place where there was a giant hollow pill-shaped thingy that bobbed up and down, allowing you to go from a flat platform, down to a large wheel-type thing going clockwise, with holes in it. The wheel was in the back layer, and the pill-shaped thing was in the front, and there was a stationary layer in between. It's near the beginning/middle of the map. Hard to explain, sorry. Anyways, I couldn't for the life of me make the transfer from the pill shaped thingy to the wheel. If there was a slight pause in the pill shaped thingy's motion, it might be easier. As it is though, I had to jump down/around to make it to the wheel - not the intended solution, I assume. I'm sure I just described half of your map to you, but I tried, lol... Keep in mind that this is all from memory, so I may have described something incorrectly. How in the world do you get a 30x multiplier? Oh yeah, :star::star::star::star::star: and hearted! comphermc | 2009-06-26 23:45:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
You complained about problems with the large, bright stickers, but I didn't notice anything wrong... hmmm. It's only at a couple of area's (like the area on the right of the first screenshot) and it isn't always visible. There was one place where there was a giant hollow pill-shaped thingy that bobbed up and down, allowing you to go from a flat platform, down to a large wheel-type thing going clockwise, with holes in it. I'm sure I just described half of your map to you, but I tried, lol I know what area you mean, you are not the only one who has troubles with that. I see a lot of people jumping like a madman there, but all you've got to do is press up at the right moment. I'm not entirely happy myself about how you have to enter that wheel, I'll see if i can come up with something better. How in the world do you get a 30x multiplier? It's not that hard, you have to know the level a bit. Take the last part for example (the blue part) you can do that in one go, that should give you at 35x or even higher i think. cheers, misty. | 2009-06-29 13:09:00 Author: Mother-Misty Posts: 574 |
My best multiplier was 22x, but you can count on the fact that I am going to be playing this one over and over again. If I could find a problem with this level, it would be that I sometimes can't switch layers on my first try, which results in me losing a combo. That's probably my fault though, so don't worry about it. I loved how the colors slowly changed between the different sections and it is set up so that you could pretty much run the entire level with a combo. The art style was fantastic and you picked the best music track to go along with it. What material was the level made out of though, because it looks great here, especially with the fantastic lighting of the level? Overall, 5 stars and a heart from me, because that was absolutely amazing. Be sure to check out my LittleBigMemory level for your F4F and tell me what you think. | 2009-06-29 13:58:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |
Yesterday was the day of the week that I brought my PS3 to work to check the updates and download the DLCs. Since I got little spare time, I checked one of the level that I rememered from the name: Vilter. As I said I played the level while working, between a customer and another one (needed half an hour to complete it), so I quite miss the multiplicator factor, but anyway I enjoyed it a lot. The level is simple, but effective, and most of all is FUN. No story, but it doesn't matter, it's just a fun run. The level is extremely polished and has a real cool look. Pros -The level is fun and addictive -It has a great replay value -The look is top notch but stylish, if you want to realize a level cool and simple, you have to look at this Cons -I don't like Metropolis background , but it's not your fault. MM should release a Sci-Fi background, really. 5 stars, hearted and author hearted, I hope I will manage to play other levels that you made, M-Misty I would do F4F ut I don't have any level out yet (I have one actually, but I should really delete it...something is comin', though ) | 2009-06-30 09:25:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Played this last night... no real need to get deep in my feedback. It looked beautiful, the platforming was non-stop momentum - no matter who was doing what, wether the players were competent or not you were always moving, always connecting chains and having a fun run... very long, but still wanted more lol, therm friendly design but looked great because of the stickered metals and awesome multi-plane and obstacle design. Awesome level. | 2009-06-30 13:42:00 Author: Unknown User |
I loved the look of this level and with the music its like a very colourful disco! Never have been a fan of pointfest levels but this one is just fun! Could be a very nice introductory level for people who haven't played LBP. It was a little repetitive at times but it could have been far far worse! Four stars and hearted. If you have time my F4F level at the moment is Puzzle Balls (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=13148) | 2009-06-30 19:19:00 Author: adlingtont Posts: 321 |
I played your level and loved it! I haven't played very many levels, but from what I have played, yours seems unique. So many colorful lights and objects, my eyes were blinded! And the score bubbles, wow, so many score bubbles. keeping the multiplier going was tough, and sadly enough, I now know how much I suck at keeping a high multiplier. No other level has tested me in such a way as yours has. It's really tough and my highest score got me a rank in the 40s  The design is also very unique. Is there a single right-angle in your entire level!?!? Everything was so round and shinny, I didn't expect anything like this nor imagine someone could build something like what you have made. I don't know what to say on how to improve. What really screwed me over is the jumping mechanics in LBP. You have many places where the player has to switch between different layers, and sometimes (actually many times) my Sackboy wouldn't cooperate with me. I would try my hardest to move quickly to another layer, and he would just stay where he was like a fool. Other times he would switch to another layer when I didn't want him to I know this isn't your fault at all, but maybe try to keep things in one layer as much as possible Anyway, thanks for posting this! I gave it 5 stars and a heart BTW, a little off-topic, but what's this sticker bug you mentioned? | 2009-07-02 03:11:00 Author: gulliver49 Posts: 106 |
I loved debo's comment when we got to the end of this level the other night..."aww man....I hate it when levels like this end." | 2009-07-02 06:22:00 Author: Jaeyden Posts: 564 |
other than the layer switching, which is hardly your fault, i thought this level was fantastic. lots of replay value. | 2009-07-02 16:39:00 Author: Deftmute Posts: 730 |
Absolutely beautiful! Amazing level, excellent use of colour, everything looked absolutely perfect the whole level was so clean and crisp and smooth and shiny:hero: Loved it. I'd make those strings invisible if I were you, though. Most of the time I'm against still like that, I think the mechanical parts of little big planet are what give it it's charm, but in a level as sleek and streamlined as this, those big brown ropes hanging down really took away from it for me. Still 5 stars all the way though! Amazing level. | 2009-07-11 18:51:00 Author: RadicalStan Posts: 99 |
This was a fun, and very different level. The idea of scoring multipliers was nice, but I get the feeling that was what you had copied from another level? Well that's how creativity flourishes the most. I played the level twice just to get my score better and it definitely has that 'I want to do this again' Vibe to it. It was just beatiful to watch. I would like to comment that you add a sign so other players cannot join after the beginning. While I was playing the level 3 individuals joined and whenever that happens, lag follows. I was at a 17 multiplier that could have been 22 or 23, when someone dropped in and threw me off my game I played another one of your levels cuckooland and it was great as well, just didn't get to finish, got close to the end and died at the gas wrestler, flipping faces. For Vilter I gave it :star::star::star::star::star: and hearted it so that when my son comes back we can play it together. It works better with multiplayer! which is so rare in a level. If you get time, I would really appreciate such an experienced level creator as yourself to try out my level. I am open to all feedback, and am looking Specifically for help in how to increase the 'look' of the level. https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=13631 Thanks in advance | 2009-07-12 07:53:00 Author: nartules Posts: 38 |
BTW, a little off-topic, but what's this sticker bug you mentioned? When you put a big sticker on a surface and put complex objects in front of it you are never really sure if your sticker will display correctly. I've tried to hide this bug as much as possible but sometimes there's just no way around it (give us a paintbucket and a palette please Mm, coloring surfaces with stickers is just so clumsy!) I'd make those strings invisible if I were you, though. Most of the time I'm against still like that, I think the mechanical parts of little big planet are what give it it's charm, but in a level as sleek and streamlined as this, those big brown ropes hanging down really took away from it for me. Still 5 stars all the way though! Amazing level. I don't like the strings as well in this level, but removing them would be a bit weird as well i think (will try to find a solution for this...) I would like to comment that you add a sign so other players cannot join after the beginning. While I was playing the level 3 individuals joined and whenever that happens, lag follows. I was at a 17 multiplier that could have been 22 or 23, when someone dropped in and threw me off my game Good point, will add that... I played another one of your levels cuckooland and it was great as well, just didn't get to finish, got close to the end and died at the gas wrestler, flipping faces. thanks, that was my very first level i've made in LBP, i thought about removing it, but seems like several people still like it. misty. | 2009-07-12 13:12:00 Author: Mother-Misty Posts: 574 |
Congrats on the spotlight! It was a very well-made level. (This pushes the level into cool pages where it belongs) | 2009-07-13 01:32:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
Wow! I absolutely loved this! The visuals are stylish and the platforming is a blast! I wasn't able to get my multiplier up very high, but I'm sure with a couple more plays, I'll get the flow of the level. The only problem I had was with movement between layers, but it really wasn't that big of a deal and most of the time I was able to move seamlessly from one area to the next. Beautiful, fun, and addictive level! Great job! | 2009-07-13 03:26:00 Author: mrsupercomputer Posts: 1335 |
