Been asking on a couple forums for even some feedback on Brandy's Garden and noone has any suggestions Sorry dude. I said a few days ago that I'd play this, then I never got back to it. I think we got off on the wrong foot when you came in scrounging for hearts.

Just played it, and it's not bad for a first attempt (certainly better than my first level). But I think it needs some work, and I imagine you have a fair amount of thermometer left (although I know those Mm made objects really can eat it up pretty quick).

Pros:
+ It was fun and mostly easy to play, with a couple of brief challenges thrown in.
+ A couple of hidden prizes - these are always fun to find.
+ For a first effort, not bad.

Cons:
- Get rid of the heart-begging in your description. It's just not the right place for it (not that I think there's ever a right place for it). If you must solicit hearts, please don't do it in the description of your level. You will send a lot of folks away right there.
- I know it's a first effort, and there's a learning curve; and I know it's so tempting to use the stuff because it's in your pop-it and pre-made and you worked (played) hard to get it all, but try to avoid using so much (and eventually, none) of the Mm content. The best creators make their own - trees, mushrooms, characters, enemies, etc.
- Which leads to the prizes. This is less of an issue since they've allowed a switch to turn off collecting community items... but once you start creating your own content, you can give it away as prizes, rather than same old trophies that everyone already has.
- When I went up over the trees to the left for the hidden prize, the dark matter that holds up the bat/bird-winch mechanism was visible. This is usually considered bad form (visible dark matter).

As I've said a few times now, not bad for a first level, but needs some more TLC. I encourage you guys to keep creating and working together. It will get easier, and your levels will get better and better - I guarantee it.

Sorry no heart from me - not yet at least.

Cool, i'll mess around on a blank template to see what I can concoct and try to make it reality.

I thought about removing the heart comment in my description, but someone sent me a message saying that there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. He said that some people like to act like there is and that it's just another form of play that breaks no rules. Ah well, my main focus is on improving as a creator.

Absolutely right - there are no rules against H4H (in the game at least - it's pretty seriously frowned on here at LBPC). I'm just saying that you run the risk of turning off a fairly large segment of players, most of them serious creators. So it was more of a suggestion (plea?) than anything.

There's definately nothing wrong with asking for hearts, and it breaks no rules.... the problem is that it's mostly the inexperienced creators that do it, and it therefore cheapens the level. (it's kind of like if Madonna had to have a big sticker on the front of her CD that says "PLEASE BUY MY ALBUM AND I'LL BE YOUR FRIEND" in big red letters.)

The advice V0rtex is giving you is coming from an experienced creator who builds incredibly polished levels. It's the general concensus among the most popular level creators.

One more thing...

I recommend posting some pics of the level. Both in the level itself (take a picture while playing, go to the pic in your pop-it and hit square, upload pic - this will add it to the "More Info" area of your level on the network - you can do this in anyone's levels), and in the forums (same thing, only rather than upload, select "Save to HDD", then in your PS3 menus you can copy it to a USB thumb drive, or whatever, then get it up to a photo sharing site like Flickr or Photobucket, and post it in your forum threads).

This really helps to get people to play your level. Some folks simply won't even try a level w/o pics, cuz there are so many to choose from anyway and they don't wanna get into something the won't enjoy.

Hi just played your level. I liked it
Pros:
-Very clean and cut nothing broke when I was using it
-Fun, good for beginners
-Cute
Cons:
-Try not to ask for a heart. It's ok as you are just starting out, but slowly try to move away from it.
-Short(meaning i wished it was longer)

I look foward to seeing how your creations process. Goodluck and F4F please on my 2 levels The Legend of Fogarty's Cove parts 1 and 2 , but only if you have some spare time to and no rush. Also if want me to expand upon my feedback just ask.

I actually had a fun with your levels. The only thing that stuck out to me was proper punctuation, which i'm sure most won't care about, but overall, very well put together. Hope to play the next one!2009-06-25 19:21:00

CCubbage & Vortex have given you very good advice, most of which I was running over here to post after playing your level but they've already done a great job so I'll just say I agree with them and I hope you make more levels. Practice makes perfect 2009-06-26 05:56:00
