Front-view in play mode

Anyone else think that a forced front-view would make some really nice 2D levels The extra layers would make a really nice way to hide things too ![]() | 2009-06-22 22:09:00 Author: Dexiro ![]() Posts: 2100 |
yeah something like this would be cool its been done with anticolor levels but it would be nice to have it for any type of level Currenly the best suggestion i could think of to create an effect like this is have a player tracking camera that is zoomed all the way out and only have the front layer and thin layers.... | 2009-06-22 22:20:00 Author: redmagus ![]() Posts: 667 |
Yeah it would be cool. I think the backgrounds actually look better in this mode. | 2009-06-22 22:24:00 Author: Reef1978 ![]() Posts: 527 |
Yeah it would be cool. I think the backgrounds actually look better in this mode. It depends on the background and lighting. The wilderness background is blinding in Front View because the light gets reflected directly at the camera, making everything a big glob of white at some spots. | 2009-06-23 00:50:00 Author: Gilgamesh ![]() Posts: 2536 |
You could of course just make cameras make it look like "front view" of course you know? That and i'm affraid such option would bring another 5million "Mario based" levels... | 2009-06-23 02:23:00 Author: Silverleon ![]() Posts: 6707 |
lol i dont think another 5 million would hurt, to make a dumb metaphor "if your already drowning a bit more water shouldnt hurt" plust it would add a fairly usefull tool to the game | 2009-06-23 03:43:00 Author: redmagus ![]() Posts: 667 |
You could of course just make cameras make it look like "front view" of course you know? Not really though...play my Keep Up! level and you'll see that I tried to do this, but since it still forces a 3D perspective you will miss jumps on the way left or right of the screen because it's angled. I do think there was already a thread about this though, I still think it's a good idea. I'd use it. | 2009-06-23 04:26:00 Author: Walter-Kovacs ![]() Posts: 542 |
I agree completely with Walter-Kovacs. I've been working on a sidescroll level and I run into the exact same issue. Perspectives get funky on the edges. I'd like a 2D mode, rather than front view. Basically, you'd keep some of the shading but the camera would always be straight, all the way to the edge of the screen. | 2009-06-23 14:57:00 Author: dcf ![]() Posts: 468 |
yeah that's exactly what i had in mind ![]() I was going to put 2D mode but i thought Front View would be easier to relate to | 2009-06-23 15:02:00 Author: Dexiro ![]() Posts: 2100 |
Anyone else think that a forced front-view would make some really nice 2D levels The extra layers would make a really nice way to hide things too ![]() You could use a motion tracker, equipped with a camera zone / a really large zone with Camera Zone, and make it flat. It doesn't have the exact same effect though... ;-; Front View would be win ![]() | 2009-06-26 00:51:00 Author: Mikal ![]() Posts: 59 |
