Argh!somemans reviews: Burnin' Up by elliot46

So some of you people waiting patiently for your review may have wondered why I haven't reviewed levels in a while (I think it's been a week). Well, I have your answer: Metal Gear Solid 4. So, with all this hype for MGS4's trophies (which didn't come) I felt like I needed to go back and play this game. And when I was thinking about playing LBP again, I started playing MGO again. But I am back, though I don't know how consistent my reviews will be because Summer School starts up tomorrow.

Burnin' Up by elliot46 certainly doesn't have a deep story, but it certainly gets a lot more interesting at the end. Your sackboy or sackgirl has been sent by some kind of organization (presumably some giant corporation who has a giant secret which will be revealed at the most inconvenient time, like all great organizations) to get some treasure in the form of a prize bubble. Elliot actually gave some pretty good prize bubbles, too. I just wish I didn't have my community prizes off. So of course you go to get the treasure and some stuff goes down. Some pretty big stuff. Some little big stuff.

The game looks like your typical mediocre level as soon as you drop in. However, after the very beginning, when you get to the canyon-type section, it looks pretty good. The visuals are inconsistent, sometimes looking good and other times looking bad, but levels don't have to look good to be fun. I've played many levels in my day, and just because a level looks good doesn't mean it's fun. It's just a coincidence that the best level ever, Tree Fortress 2, looks so good. The level's bad spots don't make it so bad that it will ruin the level for you. It's certainly better than those levels on cool levels named "My lvl" or "First!"

Burnin' Up, while not looking MM quality, has a nice difficulty curve to each of the little obstacles. Each gets progressively harder. All of them seem to have taken a bit of creativity to come up with, and this creativity is what takes it from a mediocre level to a good level. It's fun, it's decent in length, and it has none of those boring filler running parts.

Burnin' Up by elliot46 is a good level, I actually hearted it because I had a pretty good time playing it. This is weird because after seeing some of the level after spawning I thought it was going to be bad, and this has given me a new LittleBig code to play LBP by: Not everyone can make a pretty level, but anyone can make a fun level.

4 Stars and Hearted. :hero:

hey awesomemans thanx for the review. having other peoples feedback and knowing what they like and dont like in your level really helps not only the content of the sequel, but a creators morale. thanks again! 2009-07-02 19:16:00
