Gran Turismo PSP

Archive: 18 posts

Who is buying this title, I am probably the biggest Gran Turismo fanboy on this forum, unless anyone else owns up to it.

I will probably pick this up with the, IMO, sexy new PSP Go. I hope people realise it has double the cars of Forza 3, that is seriously impressive. It also runs at 60fps!

Yeah, I'll probably buy this game. I like GT games plus 60FPS graphics on a PSP is very impressive.2009-06-20 22:37:00

60FPS on a PSP, holy... PSP go doesn't look as good as the old PSP IMO. Still looks nice though. Will it be on umd as well?2009-06-20 23:06:00

Yes mate,

All releases from October will be download and UMD, and the vast majority of the UMD games are going on PSS also.

Sony are looking at a way of people being able to download games they have on UMD for their new PSP Go's if they buy into the new device, which is very nice of Sony for once, considering none of the PSP accessories work with it, and it uses a new propriety connection format to your PSP (not more mini USB).

Double the cars of Forza? so what? people seem to forget that it's what the cars are that counts, not how many of the the same car there are GT4 had like 30 special edition Subaru's lol. And Forza is better than GT now as a sim. For a start it has damage, which GT doesn't, and if you can't get damaged it clearly isn't very realistic lol. Forza has (imo) better physics, like the new tyre deformation that is going in, and also it has better online and waay better support from devs.

And you get tyre squeal in EVERY corner on GT lol.

Classic response from a GT noob.

Forza does have damage, but mate, smashing into a barrier at 160 to have your bumper fall off and a few like scratches of paint on the side of the car is pathetic and unrealistic, it's hardly the crash test physics you expect to see.

Better online, well considering we haven't seen a proper GT game with online, then obviously. That's just like saying the PS3 has better online than the PS2, state the obvious.

Better support from dev's, what the hell does that mean. You can only use that term when referring to consoles, ie, the PS3 has better support from developers than the 360 (just an example), how can a game have better support from developers, there is only one development company involved. And if your trying to say that the people that make Forza work harder, please! Gran Turismo 5 has probably been the main focus for Polyphony ever since they got PS3 dev kits, and seeing as we have got fully licensed WRC and NASCAR included, wtf pal, that used to be like two separate games included, and in GT detail!

And the tyre squeal, seriously, way to nitpick mate.

I was talking about F3 which has the full damage.

And the Forza physics are wierd. They are god yes, but they don't feel like a sim, the races feel more like an arcade game, especially with the retarded rolling starts and stuff.

And having Nascar? who the hell cares? if i want to drive in an oval for a few hours i can do that on Forza, or a Nascar game, or ANY game with an oval in it. Rally doesn't interest me either, and having a fully licensed thing for those 2 means nothing to me - i will buy the official game if i want that stuff, not a game which happens to include some of it.

You see your problem there is assuming they will just throw that in as an afterthought, Polyphony's level of detail means that NASCAR and WRC will be just like full games, essentially 3 games in one!2009-06-22 23:43:00

3 games in 1, except i would still buy a dedicated game for rally or nascar (though i would never buy a nascar game anyway, because it bores the hell out of me) but i would buy a dedicated game for them because they will be better. If i want rallying, i will find one which is ONLY rallying. if i want GT racing, THEN i'll get GT.

Obviously we disagree about this, and we'll ahve to wait and see if Forza or GT is better. But at leastt i have played both and am prepared to admit both have strengths and weaknesses. You don't. Infact, you havent even said if you HAVE played both...

I have played Forza but admitedly for about 5-6 hours combined at my friends.

NASCAR is crap, but a lot of people will like that, and more copies will be sold.

A proper WRC game hasn't came out in years, and the ones that did were average, I always preferred rallying in Gran Turismo games.

I don't care if Nascar makes more copies get sold - that doesn't make a difference to me. And i don't know what cars you used on Forza, but they can't have been great if they had to slow to a crawl to corner as you said in the other thread.

And fine, it has rallying, but that doesn't improve the other racing at all, and as i said, i don't think the physics in GT are as good as forza's for a sim.

And the Ferarri F1 car is awful handling wise.

F1 cars have always been like this, even from my F1 1999 game or whatever year it was, you had to slow to a crawl to turn corners in them.

I guess we should both just agree NASCAR is crap, seeing as it is. I am not excited about that at all and admitedly just trying to say look, for people that love NASCAR (do they exist?) this is big news.

WRC I loved the games on the PS2, so if we can get more of that please, that'd be nice.

The physics are supposed to be updated in GT5, so we will see.

The cars I drove in Forza were not racing cars, because as I said, they are not what interest me, I can't quite remember what I choose but it was from Class C or B.

Ahh well there ya go a C or even B class car in Forza, especially untuned, is probably horrible. When you are on stock tyres, it handles awfully - you upgrade the cars and put racing stuff on, they get a LOT better.

And F1 cars don't always handle like that - A lap on Suzuka in F1 CE and in GT there was a massive difference, like 8 seconds, the GT version just doesn't have the grip, even with TC.

To be fair to you, I remember that Polyphony car in GT3 was the dogs nuts, and I haven't unlocked the Ferrari in Prologue, so I can't comment.

I will attempt Forza again next time I am at my pals, only with something a bit faster.
