These are all great!

I like the pixel art on your blog as well. I tried pixel art for a little while. Got kinda good, then stopped. I can still do a bit, but nothing fancy. I mainly did sprites, whereas you seem to do more isometric stuff.

I used to make isometric and frontal stuff but I don't do pixelart anymore. The pixelart stuff on my blog is from 2005 or so. Thanks for the comments though 2009-06-20 16:59:00

Looking at your images, I bow to greatness!!

Your photoshop work is great and your 3D work is amazing!!!

I've used photoshop since it came out (oops, does that make me old?) and have dabbled with DAZ3D and blender, and although I can knock up a good texture, I never really got to grips with modelling.

Your spartan helmet is absoluely superb and something (maybe with a background) I would give house room to.... seriously!

Is this a commisioned piece?

Hey Rhyfelwr!. No, the Spartan Helmet is not a commissioned piece. I did it at school during a boring class (we were using computers and it had Photoshop, so I brought my pen tablet to draw, lol).
If you want I can add it some background and send it over to you. I made it at, if I'm not wrong, A4 size 300dpi.

Yarbone, thanks for the comment!. Too bad even if I post something 'good' people won't comment around (like with my stages!)

At school? OMG, you have talent!

Don't know if you kept it in layers with transparent background, but A4 at 300dpi is gonna be a big file!!!

How did you achieve it? Did you use a background template or is it purely a life drawing with the tablet?

I have it in different layers. I'll have to check it better, but def. the background and the helmet are different layers. I always keep them separate until the end (unless some times, but even then I keep a different file with the layers separated).

And yeah, A4 at 300dpi is a bit big, but definitely not the biggest drawing I've done, hahaha (I have some stuff at A2 250dpi)

I used a photo I had near, so I was looking at it while drawing the basic shape, then I added some other decoration and whatnot, and then painted it all. After that I fixed some colors and whatnot, tried different color patterns and whatnot, but I didn't really bother that much with it

There is no way any normal person could have completed that without bothering that much!!!

The effect looks just like guache paint and your understanding of colours is exceptional!!

I don't normally praise artwork, but this is just incredible considering you were just playing at it....

*hides head in shame*

OK, just had a look through your website...

Did you create that too??

I had a look at the page source, and although you use Wordpress, it appears that the styling is yours!!

Good work!

I used Wordpress, but I made all the visual style to fit my current (paper) portfolio. I'm glad you like it!.2009-06-23 10:12:00

Hey Mik, I'm glad I found this, you've got some really nice 3D modelling and some nice ideas on PS. Plus, its great to see the progress you've made

I'm just starting out with learning photoshop, but I've always been into art and drawing constantly ^^
What made you move to Japan?? Was the actual art course, or were you just interested in japan itself. I'd really like to go over there sometime.

Your blog = bookmarked!
here's my sketchbook
