Homer's Iliad

So I've been thinking about making a really epic level for some time now, and I haven't come up with something till just a few minutes ago. Seeing as how I'm learning about the Trojan War in History class, why not put some of that information I gathered to good use! The story would be about the last year of the Trojan War, where the Greeks battled the Trojans over Helen (and more importantly because they wanted to take over the land). It will include: - Story characters such as Achilles, Paris, Hector, Helen and more. - The Trojan Horse. - A vast battlefield. - The Aegean Sea with Greek ships. Of course, this is all just an idea, but really, it would be nothing short of epic if done right. | 2009-06-20 06:29:00 Author: Stix489 Posts: 2080 |
Sounds fun! I look forward to playing it when it comes out! If you make it, that is. | 2009-06-20 06:39:00 Author: Sunrise_Moon Posts: 469 |
Um... i really hope Sunrise Moon's sig says "Little Big Sack Boy" and not the other thing it may read as... >_> Anywho. yeah, a roman themed level seems like a good idea, has lots of potentioal, and many ways the player can go through it. (From the point of view of the Romans, the Trojans, Paris, Achilles, or maybe even a twist in the story that never happened in the real Roman-Trojan war. | 2009-06-20 06:49:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |

Okay so I have begun constructing the ships. I have already a made a basic version of this design: http://www.filmmalta.com/latinapictures/Images/Marine/Troy-ships.jpg It's made of wood, with two thin layers on each side acting as the sides of the ship, and a flat middle level acting as the deck. It has it's own rocking motion which uses two pistons and two blocks under the ship, one near the tail of the ship and the other near the head. Each piston has a small wooden piece attached that pushes the ship upwards when initiated, thus producing a rocking motion. | 2009-06-20 07:48:00 Author: Stix489 Posts: 2080 |
I remember those ships from AoE. A LBP trojan horse would be so epic. Can't wait to play | 2009-06-20 10:54:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
Yay! Stix is making a level! ... Although it could have a epic battle between you and me... heheheh... Yeah... sounds cool. No real ideas. | 2009-06-20 14:20:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

I'd be happy to help you test the level. I actually had a similar idea pre-launch, but good to see you making a level Stix. | 2009-06-21 05:26:00 Author: Code1337 Posts: 3476 |
Check out xkappax's film about getting a crown for a laugh about a level based on Homer's work. I like your idea though - could be really cool! Looking forward to seeing it | 2009-06-21 05:41:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
are you including bits from the oddesy or just the illiad? sounds like a fun concept, cant wait to play it | 2009-06-21 06:18:00 Author: redmagus Posts: 667 |
I'm including bits and pieces from all the sources I could remember at school, so it won't be historically accurate. I'm also making up random events as I go. Like for example you start with a ship wreck (slight) and then you have to make to to land by jumping on floating pieces of wood. Another part is a part were "The power of the Gods" will come down upon you and you are able to destroy fortresses using that strength. | 2009-06-21 07:10:00 Author: Stix489 Posts: 2080 |
