The GONE thread

Archive: 74 posts

Seeing as there's lots of threads popping up about people going away for anywhere from a couple days to a couple months, I figure a 'gone' thread would be useful!

So if you're leaving on a vacation or going somewhere discuss it here!

Personally, I'm not really going anywhere this summer, although I might head to Boston for a week to check out the Berklee school of music.

Good thread idea. Let's see if it works.

Also, I'm going crazy. And I'm listening to "Going On" by Gnarls Barkley. Both sorta half count, so with both, I win.

As for really going, yay for the Florida Keys this weekend!

Why can't you just put Introductions into Introductions/Farewells?

We HAVE no intros/farewells forum. we have an intro forum. If you're leaving forever, then you leave forever, not put up a topic about how you're leaving <_>. This is just for people leaving for a certain length of time but are coming back, to tell people they are gone D:

Have fun at M.B.! Do try the 17 golf courses they have there (ZOMG, 17), or maybe even go to a "shag" bar.

(Yes, do have fun... while I have to deal with AMERICAN FOOTBALL SUMMER CAMP. O_o)

ZOMBG!

I wouldn't really go to Myrtle Beach. I don't golf, and even if I did, where I live we have one of the hardest golf courses in the world or something. A lot of pros got over par here...Or that's what I heard.

I don't like golf, though.

This might make a few people mad...
I'm going on vacation for twelve days: Flying out to LA to get on a Cruise ship that goes along eastern Mexico, then when the Cruise is done, (it's about a week long) I'm going to Disneyland! It's the only good themepark in southern California, imho (besides Islands of Adventure--Google it!).
Then while I'm in LA, I'll see the sights. I did it before once. I even have a picture of me on the set of Friends...somewhere... The studio tours are costly, though. Then after all that I head back home :hero:.

Omg I was going to go on a cruise ship that goes along eastern Mexico as well, with a bunch of people. But it was canceled to due a bunch of fear of the Swine Flu, which I think is just bologna.

Have fun in Mexico! Fingers crossed that the illegals don't make a swim for the boat! xD

And... eastern Mex? You goin' through the canal or somethin'? Cuz you actually might be headin' for eastern Baja.

EDIT: I apologize for the inappropriate manner. My family has a reputation for being racially discriminate against other races, no matter what kind. In the region I live in, it's just normal for people to discriminate against the Mexicans, since illegals have been causing many problems in San Diego and the border in general. So I apologize to any Hispanic/Mexican members on the forum that I have offended. I know my God wouldn't tolerate such inappropriate behavior.

I'm going on a week vacation starting early Tuesday morning.

We're going to Tanglewood first and hopefully arriving mid-afternoon. In the evening we'll be taking in a concert, and John Williams will be conducting one of the pieces. I'm so psyched!
I'm going to try to meet him, but you need a backstage pass and I have none. I'm thinking if I can't go to talk to him, I'll try to find someone who is and give them the score to one of my compositions to take to him. Not sure if I'll even be able to do that, but it's worth a shot!

After that, we'll be going to Boston to check out Berklee (composition school) and then back to Tanglewood again to take in some more music, relax, and see our cousins.

As you can see I'm excited...

Not that many people know me here, but I thought that it would be nice to say that I'll be out of LBPC and LBP for some time, due to a lack of acess to those two. I know that some people might become bored without me, so I reccomend playing Lafarge's request over and over. That does always help.

I had a great time here, so I hope that I can come back the earliest, if possible!

Welcome back Morgana and jujube!

I just came back from a great trip as well!

Last Tuesday evening I saw a great concert at Tanglewood, in which John Williams was present as one of the conductors for the several pieces. It was surreal seeing him there, being a huge inspiration to me and my pursuit of composition.
Although he didn't this time, apparently sometimes he comes in a helicopter! He should really get a giant speaker on his helicopter and play Jurassic Park music as he lands (if he doesn't already! ).
I was able to hand the head of security a score for one of my compositions, and he later told me that John Williams had it in his hands. Granted, nothing will probably ever come of it, but it was cool to hear!

I also visited the Berklee school of music in Boston. It seems like a great school and they have a major in film scoring (graduates include Alan Silvestri and Howard Shore). It'll definitely be among my top choices.

Some other highlights were a good hike up a mountain and seeing some other concerts include Sir James Galaway on the flute! He's a great personality, and quite funny.

Cool, so how was John in real life? Did he wear a suit or his trademark black turtleneck?

He was wearing a white suite if I remember correctly - I've got pictures so I'll double check

Unfortunately, although apparently sometimes he does, this time he didn't come out after the concert to give the audience a wave. But I talked to a couple of the musicians in the Boston Pops, and they said he's a really nice guy.
Either way, he did a great job conducting!

Hey party people!

I am writing this from a hotel room in Niagara Falls (Canada), and I will be heading off to Boston, Rhode Island, New York, etc. starting tomorrow. Needless to say, I will be away from my PS3 until at least August 21st. I will be stopping by LBPC occasionally from hotel rooms, but it will probably be less often. Hope you guys can survive without me

Good luck to anyone else who wants to claim that 'Most Active' award in my stead.

Not sure when or if I'll be able to get another one after I get situated, but I will probably stop in to say hi and lurk around the site every now and then anyway.

I will be gone, leaving tomorrow morning and returning sometime late Sunday evening or maybe even Monday. I may pop on LBPC from time to time during the evenings, but I will not have my PS3 with me.

If you're curious..

I am heading up to Elkhart Lake, WI to Road America (http://www.roadamerica.com/), a natural terrain road course, to shoot the SCCA Runoffs (http://www.scca.com/event.aspx?hub=1&event=13506), which is one of the national events I help cover for Sports Car magazine each year.
