Thermometer Shrinking!!

Archive: 7 posts

Ok so I had stopped creating for a while, but left some projects hanging waiting for me to be motivated again. Great I get back and I make HL2. Then I figure, hmm, why not get back to work on that mini-game I had started making. Go to my moon, open the right patch in EDIT mode... "Your level has overheated, bla bla bla..."

What??? It wasn't overeated when I saved it last, obviously!! I checked to see how much I have to remove for it to be normal again... I had to delete my whole ending section just to get it under the top notch of the thermometer... I know for a fact I still had leg-room when I last worked on it so what gives?

So what happened? Did a patch at some point restrict space within a level, or perhaps added some functionality which in turn restricted space... I'm now thinking of all the stuff I had to delete from HL2 just to get it to fit in the thermo!

Anyone else notice this, or have any comments about it?

If you use any captured objects, try just rebuilding them, because they will take up less space. Also, make sure your emitters use the lowest possible values that will make them functional, because the thermometer automatically estimates how much of the PS3s resources will be used up by those settings. As to why your thermometer just overflowed now, your guess is as good as mine.

I've not experienced this myself, but it sounds like you may be saddled with this glitch:

Seems like V2 to me...

Your termo will rise by Rewinding, Fast Forwarding and leaving/ entering the affected level.
I have found 2 ways to solve this actually.
(Tho i forgot to post the 2nd one... )

EDIT: lol, Darn you V0rtex for posting before me... >_>

Thanks for the feedback! I actually had heard about that, I always hook up my emitters to proximity sensors, that way they never activate even if I unpause... Thing is, there isn't a single emitter in the level

I haven't experienced that problem yourself, but I'm sorry to hear about that. The most you could really do is recreate the part again.2009-06-21 11:41:00
