Hi all,

I`m new to the forum and fairly new to PS3 and LittleBigPlanet as it happens, too.

I adore the game and as a mature gamer (34) it makes a nice change from killing things like I`d be doing in 99% of the games I`ve ever played. But, eventhough I`ve never been terribly creative or artistic in anyway, shape or form (I mentioned that fact in my "Hello" thread), the level creation part of the game was what hooked me in and it`s the reason why I bought a PS3.

I`ve tried for months to create something, but it would always end up being deleted. A few weeks ago I thought I`d have another crack and I really go going with it and managed to create a full level.

I`m constantly blown away by the quality of some of the levels that you guys produce and that`s one of the main reasons why I joined LBPC. I want to learn from the community and as I`m thinking about creating another level, I thought I`d ask if you guys would be so kind as to have a look at my first effort and give me some constructive critisism.

I should`ve kept the level very simple as it was my first go, but it got so big the temperature got maxed. I finished it just in time before stuff started disappearing. Another error I made was building a level just for friends. The subject matter is based on something only they would know about and by my own admission, if you weren`t in the know it probably wouldn`t be entertaining in the slightest.

Anyway, please have a go and let me know your thoughts. I know Mistervista has played it (Thanks!). One final thing, I`ve tried to cover most eventualities in the game for players getting lost and such as it`s quite a large open area, but there is a section where you explode through a grave. In this section you just need to fly straight up into the cloud area.

Many thanks in advance to all for any comments.

I found this to be a cool level with an interesting story.
Things that I thinks you might want to think about is to try to use your own characters, not saying that the MM ones are bad, but I find it more interesting with custom characters. Another thing that might need some work is in the end when you carry well Im not gonna say what it is because that might spoil the story for others, but you carry "a thing" from one place to another, its a bit too long and nothing really happens.

But it is a good level and I recommend others to try it out!

Cheers Caveman.

I think the problem I had after spending so long trying to create something and doing nothing, was the fact that when I did get going I ended up trying to do too much, As you mentioned in the final flying level where nothing really happens I had no room left to do anything else. I think in the next level I do I`ll try and fit a fair bit in, but in a smaller area and hopefully that`ll eliminate those kind of moments.

Thanks again for taking the time to play.

Ok, I've played the level.

One major problem is a huge area. There's a lot of empty space that could've been used more effectively. The military base's underground for example: there are some empty and repetitive locations: basically all you do is:
1. Shoot the door.
2. Swing on sponge.

The navigation is another problem, but it's not that big, it can be easily fixed. I actually got lost after getting out of the bunker...

On the plus side, this level's got a nice plot. When I was driving a bike and was going past the bunker exit, I actually got curious and tried to remove the material blocking the hatch. After 2-3 minutes of failure to do so I decided to move on.

Overall, this level could use some adjustments, but it's quite good and interesting for a first level.

Now, since you chose to participate in F4F, could you check out my "Destroy All Humans" level?

Fun level to play. This is my first feedback post, hopefully you'll find value in it. I wanted to review this level after seeing there was someone else using LBP that wasn't 20 years younger than me (I'm still older than you but not by much)

- Really fun story and play through.
- Loved the humor in the dialogue and shop names (that's something I have trouble with)
- Agree with Caveman about creating your own characters - it's much more interesting. Your unique story would really be enhanced by it.
- Found it tedious to have to shoot at the doors for what seemed forever, maybe make each door a two stage challenge in some way. Shoot it and it only opens for a brief time or something like that.
- I didn't have trouble navigating because there were arrows all over to guide me, however, there were arrows all over to guide me (I personally try to use them as little as possible especially on objects that you would not expect to have arrow signs, like clouds - although a cloud roughly shaped like an arrow but still cloud-like could work)
- The big thug kill at the end, as satisfying as it is now, could be even better with a bigger payoff. Explosion, lights, eyeballs bouncing back out. Something. Lava flow of score bubbles at least.

Tip:
I've found that the best way to keep the themometer down for as long as possible is to use as few materials as possible. You could probably regain some themometer room by going back through your level and looking for materials that you could change to one you definetely need to use. I'll often use a dissolve material but sticker it to look like another material. Stickers are almost therm. free, materials therm. expensive.

There's my two cents, happy creating!
