Top secret "Deja Boom" Beta

Ok, so the winner of the HELP me name my level is Deja Boom. Now I just have to finish it... I seriously have dumped way too much time into this level... Basically I'm sparing NO detail, and don't care HOW LONG it takes to finish - so I need well versed and fun spirited beta testers to play what I have so far.

The story is still top secret, so it's left out of the beta just so you will still have some twists and turns when I release it, and there's a chase scene and a downtown showdown fight and conclusion all still in the works, but what i DO have done is here...

I am down for some serious F4F - like epic detail and brainstorming all around - and if you need any help with logic, or bosses, there's pretty much nothing I can't help you with.

It's actually called super secret beta test

I just tried it and it was a great looking level and gave me an instant Groundhog day feel

Can't wait to play the downtown part and see what the full story is

Liked what you did with the lamp
And the way it only displays the message if you have knocked it over.

And I liked your snipers and the mini boss contraption


A few of the things I found was:

I got stuck between the lamp and the bed and couldn't get out and just kept sliding about in the gap lol

Also one time I didn't get killed by the gas in the room and was just left in the dark with it shaking. I think I may have got stuck in the back layer between the chair and the wall (the one with the door).
Maybe you could have the gas above the house on all 3 layers (out of view obviously) which has a piece of dark matter above it and the gas would be attached by a piston to the dark matter that pushes the gas through the house to kill you

Also when you are on top of the cars and try to read the magic mouths while moving you end up dying before you realise to exit out of them quickly and change lanes

Loved the look and feel of the level though and this was a good feeling to play

OK, first things on the mini boss... I liked the camo design.. on his second stage I died a few times because there's a small delay between the pistons.

Also, I should have said this way back when you still had the first tech demo up... After the Atomic Flash, you should make the environment somewhat like fire-colored, instead of black. Like this:

Also, the speech bubbles are indeed obstrusive in the first part.....

And it is indeed possible to avoid the gas in the house.

And when grabbing the car near the end you maybe should move the grab switch to the front, it looks kinda awkward.

But otherwise :star::star::star::star::star:'d and beautiful'd.

Hey thanks guys, yeah I was either going to slow the cars down - or make the text bubbles NOT have zoom cameras that force you to click out. Not sure how to do that without ruining the pace of the scene.

Also definately going to switch the death gas to a huge blob that's moved in by piston, and maybe mess with the background coloring during the a bomb. But that's after the down town and chase scene get complete.

hey john! been a while...

Ok so now it's pretty much done... unfortunately the thermo is done before the story - so I have to link it to the conclusion after this epic chase scene I just made.

Basically I'm going to have to have down town and the final showdown in another level... and just to make it worth the wait, I won't be releasing the first level until the second is done so they can be played as one.

Man this project is taking a lot out of me - it's been about 6+ weeks. I just hope I can fit in the magic mouths to make the story work because the thermo is like seriously done.

You can play the first level with really no story added in right now - spoiler free as far as most of the story goes, it just sort of spoils some gameplay and the halfway "mini" boss.2009-06-18 22:05:00
