A loose substance.

I feel like a more loose material can be made. So that way, when it's in it's littlest form, it came imitate the effects of water perfectly when grouped with the same material (including size).

I see people using the little form of sponge, and the littlest form of glass all the time, and I just don't see how that ends up feeling like a liquid substance.

Also, I don't want it to collapse under weight easily when it's in its littlest form.

What do you guys think?

Are you suggesting particles? Like sand?

So sort of like a solid material, that reacts like a liquid? If so, that's a very good idea. It would really suit LBP.2009-06-17 20:54:00

Not really. The particles of water are so small, when not capture inside something, it would be REALLY flat. so flat you couldn't see it. I want the "particle" (really the smallest amount of the material) to be big enough to, well, actually be useful.

Exactly.

Yep.

Sounds like it would make the LBP physics engine cry.2009-06-18 06:46:00

It does, because using a ridiculous amount of small objects stresses out the collision system. It would only be possible if it was coded that way, meaning that sand would have to automatically know how to react to other sand without having to perform all of the physics collision detection calculations. I think water would be a more feasible and useful addition.

Which is why I don't want it to be TOO small.

I guess, sure. but water uses more particles then sand. Also, without water holding it, like I said, it turns FLAT, and wouldn't be useful when it is. A liquid like material that is big enough to be useful but small enough to react like water would be best.

blacknumbers... i've got something similar to what I think you might be talking about in my level Blue. I've got a room full of small particles made of polystyrene. when you move in it, you start to sink, but if you keep pressing jump, you pretty much end up moving in the direction you're going for. almost like water from a gameplay perspective, but visually it's way off. what exactly are you looking to do?2009-06-18 21:08:00

Nothing, really. Just looking for something that could imitate water physics.

I know a lot of people that use sponge, glass, and polystyrene, but in the end, it doesn't react like water.
