GamePro Article (http://www.gamepro.com/article/previews/206985/littlebigplanet/) I thought this part was interesting: -Enemy A.I. is driven by customizable brains. Developers who want to attach artificial intelligence to the threats, bosses, and enemies they create do so through the use of brains. These brains govern A.I. logic, and can be placed on any object in the game. LBP designers can then designate the behavior of these brain-powered creations by specifying speed of movement, levels of aggressiveness and other behaviors, such as following/avoiding, as well as the perception radius - the range at which the creature or object will notice players' presence. There's a lot of depth here. Players will kill or destroy an A.I. opponent in classic platform game fashion - by jumping on its brain. And I liked the two images of Sackboys and Sackgirls building stuff. http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/9683/lbp1xd0.jpg http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/3360/lbp2wi8.jpg | 2008-09-03 13:52:00 Author: BurlapSackBoy Posts: 310 |
Thanks for posting man, i hadn't seen that article. Good bit of info on the enemies as well there, that should make things very interesting! Nice pictures as well, hadn't seen the first one. They are great. | 2008-09-03 13:56:00 Author: Unknown User |

Nice! It sounds like there is a fair amount of customization. :arg: Wait, so the only way to kill ALL enemies are by jumping on it's brain? Hopefully there is a way to put the brain on any part of the enemy to make weak points. | 2008-09-03 17:03:00 Author: Unknown User |
^ probably. Plus i'm going to make some where you have to fire something at their brain to kill it. Hopefully that'll work. | 2008-09-03 17:05:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |
Perception Radius...interesting...makes me wonder if I can make a level where Sackboy or girl has to sneak by enemies...undetected...like a thief level... | 2008-09-03 17:34:00 Author: Noonian Posts: 523 |
Hmmmm may recreate a level from Manhunt where you have to avoid all the hunters. Anyone remember the Smiley Gang? http://hyacinthgirls.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/manhunt.jpg Imagine those bad boys done LBP style. | 2008-09-03 20:40:00 Author: LittleBigChav Posts: 175 |
Haha, I wasn't thinking of Manhunt particularly. What I WAS thinking about is this: H-rMeNkSKjg | 2008-09-03 20:50:00 Author: Unknown User |
Pretty sweet, thanks for the update. | 2008-09-03 23:43:00 Author: THE-FAT Posts: 143 |
I wonder if there is a way to make either unkillable enemies, or ones where you have to at least solve a puzzle to be able to kill them. Like putting the head portions on fire, or covered with spikes or something. then you could either extinghuish the fire with ice or knock the spikes off?? | 2008-09-04 13:53:00 Author: flakmagnet Posts: 1084 |
You could make an enemy impossible to kill unless you solve a puzzle by using triggers. It would require a bit of engenuity, but I'm sure it's possible. | 2008-09-04 13:57:00 Author: bbroman Posts: 1374 |
I like that Zelda idea. Similar to a Sly Racoon concept I was toying with involving search lights! | 2008-09-04 14:24:00 Author: mrbobbyboy Posts: 304 |
Remember there are other ways to use these A.I. brains too. They can hold up constructions that tumble down on you if you get to close for example. Or they can also be used as buttons, just like the normal switches. It's just a matter of how you want to use it. It doesn't at all have to control a creature. | 2008-09-04 16:41:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |
Remember there are other ways to use these A.I. brains too. Good point. This adds once again so much dimension to the game, after the dangers and death, this is great. I bet we'll be coming up with things Mm didn't even think was possible with their tools! | 2008-09-04 17:18:00 Author: KAPBAM Posts: 1348 |

Didn't you see those videos posted a while back, one showing the last level of the game? That boss was INSANE. And had more than 1 brain on different parts of it's body. | 2008-09-04 17:27:00 Author: aer0blue Posts: 1603 |
Yes. The first thing I thought when I read this was: Goombas! I can't wait until I finish my Mario levels so I can start with original levels though. | 2008-09-05 02:57:00 Author: HobocidalManiac Posts: 117 |

Hm, I wish we had more information on exactly WHAT A.I is capable of: will they be able to attack other enemies? Will they be able to race to a designated area? Will they be able to recognize where hazards are located? I need to know this all to see if my new big idea will work. | 2008-09-05 20:17:00 Author: Unknown User |
