Changing the background of the scoreboard

Archive: 21 posts

I recently played a level on how to change the background of the scoreboard. (So don't say it was me who found this glitch as all credit goes to the original founder, Wizard_of_KB )

It's reaaaaally easy to do, so here's the steps:

1. Create a scoreboard, and just place it on the floor.
2. Create a box on the thin back layer, that is about 4 grids wider than the scoreboard. Just place this on the floor too.
3. Then make a material about 4 grids bigger than the other material. This material will be the background, so spice it up and make it look pretty. (Try not to use lots of white, as the words on the scoreboard mix with it.)
4. Copy the scoreboard into the center of the first material.
5. Copy those into the center of the material you will use as the background.
6.Cut off the edges that are outside of the scoreboards screen.
7. Viola! You're done!

I played with this for a while and made some awesome looking scoreboards!

Post pictures of your scoreboards! I will do the same in a bit.

Awesome, It's REALLY simple to do it. If you go to the level it makes it even easier since he's showing you exactly how to do it. I used this to make a scoreboard for my newest level, Junkyard Madness, it has the sticker that's in the icon in the middle of it. I think it looks nice. Thanks a lot for sharing this Cog.2009-06-17 07:25:00

I just did this to make a scoreboard for my new Wild West level and it looks great.

I used glass for the 3rd material because a level I played recently showed it using glass ( sorry I can't remember the creator offhand )

By the way Cog when you say cut off the edges do you mean to go round it cutting bits away to match up the edges with the scoreboard ?

If so there's no need as you can simply select the 2 materials you've embedded the scoreboard in by placing your cursor somewhere on the outer edge ( in my case basic wood and glass ) and delete them.

Also if you place any stickers you want on the glass before embedding they remain on the scoreboard screen and cannot be removed.

The first one is the basic result with my custom sticker applied to the glass before embedding :
The second one is the same but with extra stickers added afterwards to the frame and base :

Couldn't you get the same effect from using a sticker of the desired material? Not that it's not a cool way to do it but a sticker seems much easier.... or am I missing something about the new material?2009-06-18 01:10:00

How did you find this level? After typing in: '@Wizard_of_KB' or just 'Wizard_of_KB' my LBP-game claims he's found no results!

to make a backround for the scoreboard u can also drop a bomb or anything explosive on the piece of the bord u can walk on that takes up all 3 layers so that it will blow away and allow u to move the scoreboard onto other layers and then u put a block with watever stickers u want on the layers behind it. it doesnt look to good buut it works, but ill go and try this way later2009-08-27 15:18:00

Isn't this really the same as the merge/combine glitch?

Just wondering...

OK - Really hate bump such an old thread, but rather than start a new one on this same subject...

I was under the impression that this glitch had been fixed/removed by Mm in one of the latest updates (probably Leerdammer?). I was saddened by this fact because I thought it was a very cool way to personalize a level, and I had used it rather successfully in one of my 00Sack levels. But I got over it and moved on.

Anyway... lately I've played several levels that seem to have stickered/glitched scoreboards. Is this glitch back? Has someone found a new way to achieve this? I tried using the prescribed method as before, to no avail. Were these scoreboards perhaps just created before the update, but not released until now? (sorry - I don't recall specific levels where I've seen this).

Put thin-thick material front of scoreboard and make it thin.
Thanks, this is an even easier way.

Hmmm... well, the thick-thin material I have - I don't even recall what level I got it from now - is not editable. When I use your method, it works just fine as far as changing the material of the scoreboard glass and keeping any stickers in place - until I un-pause. Then it just breaks and the thick-thin material disappears (sometimes the scoreboard too). I tried nailing both parts down with DM, but still the same result. Am I missing something here? Do others have a different source of thick-thin material, and if so, can you point me to it?

Thanks!

My thin tick square is from tjb0607, but looks like his level is not published anymore. I just added it in my level "My messy logic" - grab the very first piece of dissolve for 5-6 seconds to get it

Also, after you merge the thin layer in the scoreboard, you have to glue them, or they'll repel each other.

Ahh - 'twas the gluing that was getting me. The thick-thin that I had was not the problem (same as what I got from your level - thanks for that btw). I had tired to just 'glue' them together, but it wouldn't register. Once I smeared material over them, then deleted the excess... that did the trick.

Thanks again to both of you for the help!
