Rootin' Tootnin' Puzzles!

Time to pimp my first level on here

Name: Rootnin' Tootnin' Puzzles!
Location: Mexico
PSN ID: Dragnet

I've had this level on and off since the beta, but only recently got the motivation to finish it up. When I first heard of LittleBigPlanet, I got images of being able to edit the level whilst in it, and as Mm have stated they had a feature that let you do that but they dropped it. This level kind of plays to that, you fit together blocks to fill in holes in the ground so a barrel of alcohol can pass over!

Whilst making it, I also decided I wanted to create a platformer/technical puzzler based in some caves, and also a western themed cart ride that uses only realistic physics, no rockets and whatnot. I ended up doing a Molyneux and being too ambitious, so every one of my ideas is only half of what my original vision was for it, which bugs me. It also means that the gameplay itself is kind of 'meh' as I had too much to do and couldn't focus on tightening up every little aspect.

So it's kind of a mish-mash of a lot of ideas I've had over the past few months. It even has a rickety old bridge! Anyway, some pictures to whet your appetite?

You may notice some bugs, some areas that are bland and whatnot. This is because I maxed out the thermometer way earlier than I expected. I did everything I could to optimize it but that's as good as can get it. That's also why the cart bit is so short. It was meant to be waaay longer, but alas..no thermometer space

Have fun! I think by typing all this I've hyped it up too much..don't go in expecting greatness, it hasn't reached my gold standard!

Edit: Poop..spelt it wrong in the title!

It looked really good. Though I flew right over the whole thing with the jetpack

I`d reconsider using tetherless jetpacks as it only leads to people finding a way out of the level.

I`ll play it properly in a bit.

I'd use tethered but they take up too much thermometer space which I don't have! I'm constantly trying to optimize and make more invisible walls though

I played through the level right up until that little elevator thing with the mesh, which I fell out of...

I really enjoyed the 'construct the path' element of this but got into some tricky situations where bits of the puzzle evaporated when caught in a tight spot so had to restart.

All in all it was thoroughly enjoyable to play, I love puzzle-y levels so it was right up my alley. I like the constructions and customisation of the objets with their smudges and so forth and can understand about thermometer constraints.

Have you thought about taking away things that aren't neccessary (like the spinning checkpoints for example) to try and free up a little space?

I gave it 4* and a tag but I forget which one *lol* I played it on my bf's account but when I'm on mine tomorrow I will heart it as I'd like to give it another go

Thanks for playing! If you wait the elevator will come back though Good idea on the checkpoints too, I did it and it worked! Managed to fix some stuff with the extra space

Very nice level with some fun puzzles. It looked great as well. I think you should reward people with score bubbles and make a race mode too. I gave it :star::star::star::star:

Edit: Also, I found this on Cool Levels page 10

Ok, just played it again. I really like the concept behind this level, of getting the barrells where they need to go, and enjoyed the puzzles a lot. I can see why your thermometer was overheating! all the emitters and stuff you have to have..

I actually really loved the 'helicopter blades' on the piece carriers, thought the detail was really good and obviously a lot of work and thought gone into it where others might have scrimped.

I gave you a 4 star rating and hearted the level because I really like it both for the game play and the visual aspects.

Nice work
