Just published my level, Junkyard Madness which is a survival challenge in which you have to stay on a conveyor belt as long as possible. Sounds simple right? Well, you have to deal with oncoming cars that you have to jump over and if you don't jump over them, you get crushed (or death by gas, whichever comes first). More details on the level in the thread (get there by clicking the link in my sig). Here's how the XP will get handed out: 1st place-250XP 2nd place-150XP 3rd place-100XP You have until next Tuesday (the 23nd of June) at 11:00AM US Eastern Time until the contest is over so get to playing! Only scores on the 1 Player scoreboard will count! Currently: 1st place-BSprague with 6,004 2nd place-Jackofcourse with 4,408 3rd place-oooDORIENooo with 4,151 My personal record is 4,284

Haha, you probably got up to the MGS music and died right? I think I died almost right after the music came on. That was my first try though, I had to turn off the PS3 since I've been on it creating all day. On another note, I'm thinking of adding more bits of gameplay to the level since I'm bored of it already.

I was thinking of making it so that the "crusher" starts moving around when you get deeper into the challenge. What would you think about that? Too unfair? I just think people would get bored since it's kinda (really) repetitive, that's why I thought it necessary to make the cars random.

Well, I just got 2,289. This is a very entertaining level. I do have one question though, it looks like the platform below the play is one continuous piece. How does it work? EDIT: #2 with 2,926

Good job BSprague! You're currently in first place. To answer your question, there are a bunch of circles spinning which makes the platform move to the right. Theres an emitter shooting the platforms so that it seems infinite.

I looked at it again and now I see it. The timing on the emitter is very well done so that there are no gaps in between platform pieces. This is a great level, and I'm proud to hold my #1 (#2 behind you on the board) spot. The only minor problem I have is that when it gets incredibly fast, the bubbles are spaced too far apart to get a combo, and as a result the score climbs much slower. I think players should be rewarded by an increased stream of bubbles as it gets insanely fast. Overall though, its fantastic and very addictive. Hopefully I'll take the true #1 spot next. EDIT: 3,401 - I'm getting closer.

I realized that about two minutes after I posted. I was thinking, "The speed increases and the emitter still matches up perfectly, this must be tuned really well." My feeble mind then pieced together how meticulous and inefficient that would be and I realized you must constantly be spawning them, and emitters only emit if there is nothing in their way. And I'm going to work on getting my spot back, and hopefully being overall #1 as well.

I encountered something major that happened that you might want to fix. This wasn't on my 4,000+ point run, but if it happens again it could be exploited to get ridiculous amounts of points. So before the MGS music started playing, a car was destroyed awkwardly, meaning pieces were left behind. I don't know what happened from there, but I could see the platform pieces rippling up like a wave at the end beyond the crusher and the gas. After the MGS music started and it got faster and the pieces became slightly spread out, the wheels at the end of the track were exposed from the speed. When I got stuck behind a car, I went under the gas, and onto the other side. Someone could probably wait on the other side catching bubbles if that happened to them, without having to move or dodge cars. I was hit by a piece of metal platform and crushed before I could catch any bubbles, but its something you might want to look into.

It's because I changed the car to 2 layers then I changed to 3 and forgot to put the wheels 3. Also, me and my brother just got 4,985 but Upload Score Failed and it was on the 2 player scoreboard anyway. Well, I have good news and bad news for you. The bad news for you is that I just had the game of a lifetime and I got 6,004. The good news for you is that it failed to upload my score. I'm going to try to take a picture of the pause screen on the level with the camera on my phone.

6,004?!?! Holy ****, I don't think anyone will be able to beat that... I sincerely hope not, because I've played this level about 100 times now, and I need to get outside. I'm working on getting the picture from my phone to my computer now. Just played this for the first time and got 3 thousand and something and got the #5 spot on my first go I'll try it some more now and come back with an edit saying I have the top score (LOL I WISH ) Lovely level mate btw, nice concept. I love survival levels EDIT: OK I played it a few more times but could only manage 4,151 and 4th place (BUT I will try some more as I like this level )

Well all I can say now is that if someone beats my score, they definitely deserve it and they can have it. I was sweating on that last run through because it was so intense. I got a 7x combo at the beginning by running up the first car, which was an easy blue one, and then keeping my combo by catching a lone bubble on the roof, then jumping down the back to continue the combo. The next car was the orange one with the spoiler on the back, and I made sure to slow down just enough so that I would still get my combo and be on the edge of the smoke at the left. I lost the combo because the next car was a truck, which is basically the combo killer for me. That racked me up around 1,500 points I'm guessing, I didn't really check. I managed to get a 4x when it was going pretty fast by jumping rhythmically so that I would land on each bubble, and jumping higher after the bubbles that bunched up and left a gap. As you can see, I've worked it down to a science, and I think its time for me to call it quits with this one and move on.

Well what happened was I was about to play and then I decided I wanted a snack, so when I started about five minutes later, the platforms stuttered for about 15-20 seconds before they actually got going, giving me enough extra bubbles for the 7x combo. So it was actually more luck than anything else.

Highest was like 1400-something. Don't remember exactly. This is one of those instances where practice makes...you better at it, because nobody is perfect. I'm guessing (hoping, actually) I'm not the only one who played this a ridiculous amount of times before I got a decent score.
