Hardest Levels

Archive: 33 posts

Recently it has become my hobby, no, my obsession, to track down LBP's hardest levels. Anyone have any recommendations?2009-06-15 22:37:00

Bridget always makes super hard but fair levels... albeit having only a few.

Try his Dan Makeu Rave boss... Very few people have the time or skillsto manage to beat that.

Then the boss rushes are also pretty hard...

In the case of an actual level and not a boss fight or boss rush, Bridget has a temple of trials level that is fairly hard...

Then Silverleon has a level (Burning Plains, search Yarudark)that is fairly hard, albeit not too polished to my tastes until the boss, which is awesome, albeit too hard for me...

Try a level called

"Insanity Training" by Eternalyrics. I think I might have his PSN wrong though

Also people have said that my Sun Temple level has a tough spot, you can see for yourself. I'm working on a new and much harder level and if it turns out good I'll post it here.

I too am always looking for tough levels but I hate when they don't give Infinite Spawning Checkpoints

.....allright, as soon as I saw this topic name I KNEW that was gonna be the first thing mentioned, haha.

The proper level name is "Boss: Danmaku Rave", if you should like to try it.

I take no responsibility for broken controllers.

It's had well over 1000 plays at this point (could probably have more but Im lazy about the whole republishing thing), and I think the number of people aside from myself to actually defeat it is still less than 10.

Things I make are,well..... I dont design things to make everyone ELSE happy. If *I* cant enjoy the thing Im making, there's not much point in making it. Also, were that the case, the quality would really suffer. So I make these things hard enough to challenge myself. Which apparantly puts the difficulty waaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy up there for most people.

The "Temple of Trials" level is certainly challenging, though I'll warn you now that I'd been playing way too much of "I Wanna be the Guy" when I was building that, so the 3rd zone is spike-tastic.

Also, yes, definitely try the Boss Rush levels if you havent already. The first one is under Aer0blue's account. It's a bit short, only 4 bosses (the 2nd of which is pretty easy, but that's how it was designed), but the other 3 (one is mine) are all quite difficult.

The 2nd Boss Rush thing didnt turn out as well..... there's some danged neat bosses in there..... and alot of them managed to be crammed into just that first part..... but a couple of them are REALLY buggy. Do try the 2nd part of the 2nd Boss Rush (it's split into 2 stages), that all works just fine, but the first one, ahh, you might not get past that mech thing in the middle. Not because of any difficulty.... but it's sorta.... broken.

The 3rd Boss Rush is gonna be up pretty soon (it's in the Contests section of the forums), and it looks like there's been alot of rather difficult submissions this time.

There's more levels I can list here that I've found...... but I'll list them later tonight for ya; I'd have to go look through my hearted list so I can make sure I get the name right.

I have one I can list though:

Level name: Prologue

PSN: ryryryan

I did a review of that one, and I greatly enjoyed it. It's quite difficult, I think. It also has one of my favorite areas in any level so far, the "Piston Hell" room, as I call it. It's so cruel, Im surprised I didnt think of it myself. It's not the best looking level, but I definitely suggest giving it a whirl.

I'll list some more for ya later.

Hi, if you are looking for hard levels you can play two among mines (if you didn't do it yet):

- Platforms Madness (V2.2 - Extreme Mode)

- Platforms Madness 2 (V1.2 - Normal Mode) <-- There's no 'Hard Mode'

Pay attention to the named version 'cause I have a few different published.

If you want to gather some more informations about them, they are both spotlighetd (1st in issue #13 and 2nd in issue #15 of the community spotlight), both have threads in the cool levels, and the 1st has also a review by Bridget (for the Easy Mode though).

IMHO they're not so hard, but really few people have managed to step over the finish line (expecially in the 2nd incarnation).

Enjoy... ^_^

A note from someone who has stepped over the finish line:

#2 IS hard.... until you figure it out. At the point that I understood the patterns and the way the rooms worked, I could sail through it. If you're looking for a challenge, I would definately check it out.

Another one I would suggest - if you're looking for more of a "frenetic" rather than "intellectual" challenge... try the "Alien Escape" mini-game level from NinjaMicWZ - quite possibly one of the WILDEST ZANIEST MOST FUN UNDERPLAYED UNDERAPPRECIATED LEVELS EVER!!! I discovered this one several weeks ago - after playing it for a bit it was hard to make it to the kitchen. I swear Ninja should have his own LBP genre.

Well, seems Rock already mentioned my levels.
Altho you mixed up the names m8, remember? Burning outskirts Frozen Plains. XD (Frzen plains is still incomplete tho, but you can still try the incomplete version that's published.)
People say they're to difficult and i should make them easier, but nah, what's the point of a challenge if everyone can beat it right?

You should also check Deboerdave's levels, he has a couple of challenging levels as well.

... I just beat the Temple of Trials, everyone. I'll post some pics later. The first zone was the hardest for me. At the scoreboard, I got higher than Rtm and Silverleon!
EDIT: And Prologue! C'mon guys, give me a challenge. Now I'm off to beat Silverleon's levels. I've played them both, but I haven't beaten them yet.

Btw, i'd reccomend waiting a day or 2 before trying the "Frozen Plains" i'll be updating it soon, so its gonna have a bit more (Maybe even add the main challenge in it).

Silverleon, I'm confused. In your level, I've made it to this part where Yura is laughing at me and nothing is happening. What do I do?2009-06-17 21:57:00

My old level RUN SACKBOY RUN was always given good feedback (one of the first spotlighted levels ) on the just one more go factor and is one of them only one life levels. You have to be constantly on the move and if your not perfect then you die

There was I thread AGES ago about really hard levels and I just tried to find it for you to get you some more older levels to play. But it couldn't find it

Level name: Prologue

PSN: ryryryan

He has the open Beta for the next part of this atm.

I've been trying it for him. Thought you might want to give it a go
(The pistons are there again, but not as unforgiving lol)

Harder Lands by Clarkdef... very nice to look at, ingenious, and brutal. It gives you 1 million points to start, and you try to finish with as many points as possible. I finished with only 6,000 or so.

One of my favorite creators... Progressive Lands by him is nice as well

ROBO-RAMPAGE X 1 & 2 by Dimo1138... those will take you back to the days of Mega Man

Cdubb's VR Mission by Cdubb024

I try to come back to ones that are hard and pretty. Like biker chicks.

Silverleon, I'm confused. In your level, I've made it to this part where Yura is laughing at me and nothing is happening. What do I do?

Do you mean after you have to go up quickly or the gas gets you?
There's a spring on fire, jump on the center and you'll be launched up there grab the sponge that its up, you should know what to do from there.

I don't know if those are as hard as you like them but I suggest you try my Crazy Train! (hard) and also Centurion24's Got skills?

My "Beat the fuse!" timed mini game is pretty hard. Even harder to beat my score.

If you are looking for an unique challenge, my "sound n space" level makes you navigate a course in complete darkness by only using sound cues.

Hehe, seems Shinan Fortress has preoven too difficult eh?

Scores:
Players who thought they could pass it and did: 7 / Players who couldn't pass it: 200+ (I lost count a long time ago...)

Hrmph...yes:blush:.
I made it all the way to the final boss, then lost all my lives. What exactly do you consider a hard level, eh Silverleon? Is there a level that even you can't beat?

lol, well ther are those broken levels where you can't reach the ending no matter what, also the ones that have no scoreboard of course.
Oh, and H4H/ trophy levels, i can't stand going to the scoreboard on any of those levels.
But other than those, i'm pretty sure i've passed any other level i've played.

What i consider difficult?
The last level of the Shinan Fortress series of course XD
Now THAT's gonna be difficult.
Well, from the 3rd part onward it gets quite difficult to be honest, but the last part is seriously difficult, and i haven't even finished those yet...

But other than those, i'm pretty sure i've passed any other level i've played.

I came in here to suggest 'Flyo's Nightmare' by Flyojumper. He's a very good player and his hearted list is heaven if you love super hard levels.

But the level he made, by far the hardest I've ever seen. I can't even pass the very first part (I've come very close though) and I consider myself extremely good at LBP.

No one has ever completed it. I almost feel bad recommending it for all the frustration it will cause. If anyone beats it I'd be very impressed.

Thanks for posting that! I found some good levels on his hearted list. The level you mentioned is nice, although I don't like how he didn't put Infinite Spawning Checkpoints. I got to the 3rd Circle, but gave up after that

In addition to my Jumper levels. If you like survival challenges you might want to give my Mad House level a try. Its quite differnent than most survival challenges as it is platforming motivated rather than dodge this dodge that/ stay in one area sort of gameplay.

Also try "Log Jam" you have to make it through Three log rolling courses. I think i am the only one that has made it. There is some platforming inbetween each race where sackboys can respawn, but if no one makes it through one of the races you will have to start over. This is one of my favorites outside of my Jumper levels.

I went into quick play yesterday, and was thrust into one of the hardest levels I have played.

"The End is Nigh" by MrAmorphous

It shows you how bad you are at playing

Theres a difference between hard and unfair.

I usually think that my levels are too easy and increase the difficulty... the outcome of this is my level called My friends bodyworks.

I have learned my lesson.

I am glad I found this thread. It's very similar to my Expert Platformer thread I'll be posting, but not the same.

If anyone here likes challenging platformers, then our Expert Platformists social group here is seeking members, and might be something you'd be interested in joining.

To iiijujube . . .

I agree, Prologue was really easy, and Temple of Trials isn't too hard either, although it is expert level. Platforms Madness EXTREME mode is fairly easy also. Only the length might make tht last one challenging to some. You're like me, you always take pics for proof, lol. I do that in case my score fails to upload, which happens a lot.

I second the choice "The end is nigh" by MrAmorphus. this is the hardest level i've ever played. Very well constructed level though. You need to check that out.2009-09-03 23:16:00
