Hi I'm new to LBP and the forums

Hi everyone! I just picked up LBP yesterday and am instantly hooked. I must admit there is so much to learn in terms of creating your own levels that I'm a bit overwhelmed. Would you suggest I keep playing through the story levels and various tutorials before I start working on my own level ideas? Any suggestions or resources you can point me to would be most appreciated! | 2009-06-15 18:49:00 Author: raptorbandito Posts: 2 |
Welcome! I'd suggest playing through story level first so you can see what Media Molecule did with their designs and mechanics. Finish all the tutorials first too. Once you get through that check out some of the tutorial/help threads here to round out your education. You can make levels while your still working on this stuff but I wouldn't go for a full blown level at first. Just experiment and play around until you get the hang of the basics. The really cool thing about LBP is that even after playing it for a long time you can always find new ways and cool things to do! Have fun! | 2009-06-15 18:52:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Welcome aboard raptorbandito. I only joined about a week ago and this forum rocks! I started playing over 6 months ago and I'm still hooked. I found that the more I got into it, the more I wanted to get out of it!!! I too would suggest playing through the story and getting as many materials and objects from them as you can before going onto creator mode. (There's just so much fun to be had with more stuff!) BTW, when you start on the creator mode - don't skip the tutorials - they'll be invaluable to you and you get more stuff when they're viewed. Rhy | 2009-06-15 18:55:00 Author: Rhyfelwr Posts: 606 |
Welcome to the forums! Personally, I suggest you finish the story levels. You'll unlock a lot of items which will help greatly in creating your own levels. There's also a few neat tricks in those levels which are good to see. Once done, you definitely should check out the tutorials on all of the various tools and how they work. There are a LOT of possibilities, so knowing what everything does will help. When you're ready to start experimenting, just make some random designs and objects, don't start with making a level right away. Once you've gotten a good feel of how the Create mode works, you'll find some helpful tips in the tutorial showcase : https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=7260 Enjoy your stay and welcome! | 2009-06-15 18:55:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |

Hi and welcome. Morgana and Gilgamesh have given you the best advice there and the only thing I would add is to download Creator Pack 1 (FREE) if you haven't done so already as that contains some great tools that we'd been waiting over 6 months for. You get them right away you lucky blighter lol. The MGS pack also is a must buy in my opinion. Above all have fun and when you are ready to make your first level the best advice I can offer is to make one about something you really love or seriously care about as that will give you the incentive to make it as good as you can and ultimately you'll enjoy it all the more. Don't just follow the crowd and make a 'falling bombs' level because everyone else seems to be making one and getting tons of plays. ( unless of course falling bombs IS the thing you love most in the world, then go for it ). | 2009-06-15 19:27:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
Keep playing levels until you get inspired with a neat idea. Then start working on it, but keep playing levels to get more inspiration. | 2009-06-15 19:30:00 Author: Walter-Kovacs Posts: 542 |
I suggest returning the game and walking away from your controller if you value any time outside in the sunlight. Otherwise... Welcome!!! | 2009-06-15 20:07:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |

Hey and welcome! I'm kind of a newbie here myself, but I already love this place | 2009-06-15 21:14:00 Author: Unknown User |
Welcome! For creating it's best to first finish the story mode before trying to create anything serious (like I should have done), because then you'll have a lot of items and materials to create with. Also listen to play ALL the tutorials and play ALL the videos in create mode. It'll help you a lot. Also, as I'd say: Start small (like I should have done again). Don't just try to create some super-awesome-epic-mega-level first, as you wont have much experience. Instead, just try to create something simple yet fun, that'd be easy to create. | 2009-06-15 21:47:00 Author: lk9988 Posts: 1077 |
Bienvenidos! (Thought I change it up a bit...) Do play MM's levels first. They are incredibly awesome (at least in my point of view) and should be an example as to what you should be creating using Little Big Planet. And the tutorials. But once you do make a level, post it! It'll get you a lot of feedback. | 2009-06-15 21:54:00 Author: Adaman23 Posts: 18 |

welcome welcome! /spits out similar advice. the story mode and tutorials are a must have. You don't need to 100% everything to start creating though, in fact there are several members here who still don't have 100%. But you definitely do need a good portion of the materials and gadgetry to start making your own masterpieces! enjoy your stay! | 2009-06-16 05:13:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
It has been said so I wont repeat any advice. BUT I will say if you desire to see what growth is in store for you using the create tools just check out my 1st and 3rd levels. (2 is currently being redone) I left 'Part 1' (my first real level) pretty much as is since I created it. 'Part 3' shows what time and familiarity with the tools 'can' do for you. I totally agree with the 'pick something you love' comment. It will inspire and push you to the edge of your comfort zone...and thats a 'good thing'! Have fun and remember everyone had to start somewhere! | 2009-06-16 18:30:00 Author: AJnKnox Posts: 518 |
