12 Fret Guitar

Archive: 15 posts

Hey, I was wondering if anyone tried making a guitar before in LBP? Because I got bored and made a close representation of my real life esp eclipse. And I also got the idea of making it so you and a friend could play it. But i got stuck because i no absolutely nothing about logic or gates or whatever they are. = D. Has anyone had this idea before? Or made something like this?2009-06-14 21:07:00

I know someone on here made a giant electric that looked pretty sweet (might have been Thegide but don't quote me on that). Far as I know, it was just for looks... not a working model.

As for getting it working... do you plan on just plucking at the strings or making full-on chords?

Actually i was thinking of making 6 buttons for each string, and grabable material for each of the frets. Obviously its ganna take alot of brain power but i can't even figure out how to do a simple gate, or whatever their called = D2009-06-16 04:35:00

That was probably me.

well, i'm not sure why you'd need gates... you just want to push a button to play a string, right? that doesn't require logic at all.

I'm not sure how well it would work though, seeing as you'd have to tweak a lot for the guitar to play properly.

No i meen it takes two people to play it. if you press the button for the e string, it plays an open e. and when one person holds onto the fret it changes the note pitch when you step on the string button.2009-06-17 01:52:00

Ok, I understand what you are saying. What you could do is make set of 12 emitters for each string, with each one having its own basket in a rack. When a string is "pressed" (tested by a one-shot proximity sensor), drop a "note" from an emitter into the basket that matched that string. So far, it would look something like this: (for one string)

|_|

|_|

|_|

|x|

|_|

|_|

|_|

|_|

|_|

|_|

|_|

|_|

The x would be if someone was standing on the third fret, because a "note" would drop into there. All of these notes must have a magnetic key on them, which can be the same color for each fret. When someone "strums" or pushes the button, a rack will quickly come from the side on a piston with magnetic key switches attached to the corresponding note on them. The rack would probably look something like this:

___________
|x_________ |
__________ |
|x_________ |
__________ |
|x_________ |
__________ |
|x_________ |
__________ |
|x_________ |
__________ |
|x_________ |
__________ |
|x_________ |
__________ |
|x_________ |

Except it would have twelve x's, with the x's being magnetic key switches attached to a speaker to play the note. All of the lines at the right are supposed to be lined up, but its hard to do with text.

I can probably make an example for you if you need it, because my drawings are a little rough and I didn't explain some parts that you would have to work out yourself.

The notes are emitted when the player steps onto the fret, the bracket reads them. You can optionally make them out of dissolve and have a deletion magnetic key switch attached and linked to them to delete them if the player attempts to play a different note.

That is really cool, nice use of "strings".

It's very detailed, and just looks good overall. What is the theme of the level?

Hi,

Thank you

The theme is: music and color. The colors has been lost in a world of music. You start in a complete black and white environment and will help the colors to escape and to return in the level. If you wan't to know more about it, take a look to my sign, there is a link for the specific topic
