HAWK Lair 2: The Infection (Out Now!) by KAPBAM

Archive: 16 posts

Hey guys!

The sequel is out! Last we left Sackboy he had been mysteriously infected, now he's in a very strange place with lots of weird stuff going on... Why does he feel so light? Why is the background lighting constantly fluctuating Lol, find out in Episode 2: The Infection!

I'm going to go ahead and make a trailer like I did for HL1, but it's not ready yet, so in the meantime here are some in-game screenshots to give you an idea of where things are going for Sackboy! Bring along a friend if you can cause there's a neat 2 player spot to play through!

Still here? Good because I have an exclusif tip I'm only posting on LBPCentral! HAWK Lair 1 has gone through some pretty major redesign since I first published it, it now has global light settings tools, it features an Aurora Borealis and here's the tip: There are 2 spots in the game that trigger secret bubbles, look for blue Xs that mark the spot. Just get near or grab near them to unlock high-score potential! :hero: As for Hawk Lair 2... See if you can find the Easter Egg

Hey, I just played this.

I don't know how long ago I had played the first part, but I didn't remember much of it, so I went back and played through it again. I'm glad I did because then I could see how naturally the sequel progresses from there, great stuff!

The visuals and effects are awesome, and the gameplay is sure to keep you on your toes because you never know what's going to happen next, much like the first part.

I hope the next part doesn't take as long to come out!

I thought on the whole it was pretty good. Not awe-inspiring but still very good. I think the visual effects were VERRRY good especially with the heartbeat signs flickering when your dropping, and for the most part the gameplay was good too.
Alas, the thing i really didnt like though was the begginning really. I genuinely thought the level was broken it looked so messed up. I know that's what you were aiming for considering the scenario, but i still think there could be cooler ways to display limbo.
4/5 stars "Great"

please check out my level at some point and hit me up with what you think

Congrats on getting this done and published. It turned out pretty frickin' cool! I still love the massive eye part that makes me crap my pants every time.

My favorite part though, is the 2x player part when you fall. Awesome stuff.

Thanks for the comments guys! Glad to see you're enjoying the sequel

I'm still motivated to create, so we'll see, but I have other ideas I need to finish as well! I had a mini-game I was working on that needs to be finished... If the **** thermo wants to start working with me! :kz: lol

Thanks for the feedback A friend of mine told me something similar... it's funny cause the first part was made before my break from creating and the rest was made after... Maybe I should have started from scratch And truth is I wanted to tweak more of the level but the thermo became a huge problem... I'm thinking of splitting the thing in two to make it properly! I guess that'd be a HL2a and HL2b situation lol

Played this a few days ago and forgot to leave feedback.

First off, really fun and original. I loved the eye part, and bringing yourself back to life by searching for the syringes was great. I didn't really get the berry part, though I don't think I was supposed to.

The dead Sackboy in the 2-player section is really cool, unfortunately I was on my own.

As for improvements, I think you could have brought some more innovative platforming in and the gas parts in the jetpack area were hard to see sometimes. Maybe change the colour?

Awesome, glad you gave it a go Yea lol, you're not really supposed to get the berry part xD it's just a gag as in you're seeing some darned annoying berries everywhere throughout the level, then it turns out those berries save your life in the antidote

You have to go back with someone if you get a chance That flatline monitor changes to a heartbeat if you save the sackboy

And yea I would have liked to do SOO much more, but I had to at some point give it a rest, cause the thermo was stopping me from doing anything else! I'm planning on making part 3 alot more engaging in terms of gameplay Part 2 was literally intended to be a dream sequence, so more of a passive experience

I managed to get one of the objects for the sackboy using just one controller... because I'm cool like that.

I had to turn on a second controller to get the other one though, but I'm sure that with enough practice I could have gotten it alone too.

Loll, you know what, I'd love for you to try and let me know if I failed at preventing this from being possible for only one player As I tested it out, you happen to be just out of reach of being able to grab the red seringe with the jet pack ...

Lol, I'm picturing how you got one across... You must have flinged it across the gas then jumped (suicide!!) into the gas to reappear on the other side xD

I finally got in to play this level... very cool! Kind of a Tim Shaeffer-ish feel to it. I loved the entire level. If I had any critisism at all it would probably be that it was sometimes a BIT difficult to see the gas in the maze (from some angles), but that's a small complaint. Nice job, 5 stars and a heart!2009-06-24 04:56:00

This is one of the weirdest levels I've ever played but I think you were going for that trippy kind of fever induced hallucination effect so that's probably a good thing.

Had a little trouble with the gas in the maze and didn't quite get that the triangles needed to be moved but I eventually figured it out.

It's a fun level if you like invisible walkways too. I gave it 4 stars. Thanks for sharing it!

Lol, yeap, I actually tweaked the global lighting settings alot, I had them sequenced to something that might have given some people seizures lol, so I dialed it down a notch. I wanted an eary feeling, not vomity haha

And I think I might add an R1 sign next to the triangles, so it's a little more obvious! Thanks so much for the feedback! :hero:

Yea I wish I could have done it a little more visible... but then it wouldn't have killed anyone xD lol seriously I decided to keep it like that for the visual effect: Green usually = bad/evil in this series, so I figured keep it that way!

Just looked up Tim Shaeffer, haven't played any of his games, gonna have to check out Brutal Legends And thanks so much for playing and enjoying level
