2 new mini-games - please try them out!

Archive: 10 posts

I just published a couple of mini shoot-the-floaty-ball types concept games.

They are playable but I'm looking for feedback, so far the * ratings are quite good so I must be hitting somewhere round what people might like

Sackball - shoot the balls into the U and get point bubbles

Shootball (2+players only) - 2 sides - red and blue -shoot the balls into the minigoals, first to 3 wins.

Feedback appreciated

Dude, bumping your threads is against the site rules. (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=12380)

Yes it can be frustrating when you don`t get many plays, but might I suggest you play other levels and leave them comments? I just had a quick look at your post history and you`ve only ever posted in your own threads.

Find other F4F threads and leave feedback and you`ll get some in return. I would say that in many cases, the quality of feedback you get will depend on the quality that you give out. However, even if you don`t write an essay on the merits of someone`s level, yuo`ll still hear back from them.

Had a go at the Sackball level. It`s a nice idea. Biggest problem you`ll have with that is making ot entertaining. With the ballons moving so slowly it`s easy to see players getting bored or frustrated fairly quickly.

Other issues I saw were that the score balls land in the containers preventing the ballons from getting into them, and that you don`t need to get the balloons in the containers to get the points. Simply hit the bottom of the container to set off the magnetic switch.

Lastly, you have several versions of the same level posted including one H4H level (the Rainclouds one). This may be a reason you get luttle feedback as the people on this site tend to stay away from H4H stuff.

Thanks

Yeah, that one needs the most tweeking, looking at the * ratings I've been getting I think I'm in the right zone it's if I can get it to 'work'. I realised everything you said, the ball needs more weight...that would speed things up - it's odd because the 2 player "shootball" uses the same ball but for some reason seems more weighty? You're comments has made me think - rather than having the bits for the ball to drop in, maybe there should be one ball that you need to get near a target (rather than in) - this should be less frustraing

The H4H thing is going, I have my platinum now so I can stop pushing for that...however I am giving away stuff in that level so I thought it only fair to ask for hearts if I'm saving people a lot of time and effort and giving them something they may find useful.

I have other ideas for giving away free stuff, I'm making a maze level which is made up from 'components' - I will give those away so people can make their own maze levels or even just use components for sections of levels

I think the problem I have at the mo is that I have several ideas floating around and it's hard to find the time to sort them all! (I have 2 levels half-done at the mo). Please take the time to help yourself to my rainclouds - it takes 10 seconds and you get 2 clouds and everything you need to make your own...also please try my hunchsack level, I've had a lot of positive feedback, it's just a shame that I've pimped the hell out of it and only have around 150 plays in total witha solid 4* level!

OK, Version 2 is now published!

I have changed the game so that there is now just one ball and you need to make the ball pass targets to drop the point bubbles. This resolves most of the issues pointed out by Matt (thanks again!), as the target accuracy is better - also there is less frustration/risk of getting bored as you are not trying to get a ball 'up and in' rather just to a target.

In retrospect this would make an ideal minigame within a level so I may end up doing something like this in my next 'proper' level.

Goonergaz! are you the AVForum Goonergaz?

Anyway, doesn`t matter if you`re him or not cos I`m gonna play your levels anyway.

I`ve just created a F4F thread. Please have a look and I`ll post back here with some feedback on your levels in a bit.

I played Sackball v2 and I enjoyed it. I don`t think Solid Snake did, though. He was covered head to toe in yellow paint at the end.

Eventhough it was a quite slow paced game, it was nice and chilled out to play. Music was a good choice, too. I like that tune. I did at one point wonder if the game was going to go on forever until I sussed out that I could drop the paininator and get out by grabbing the wall like you do when you enter.

If it`s possible I think it`d be better if you could make the targets disappear once you`ve got the score bubbles from it and then when all targets are gone the game is over. I`d like that idea more, but maybe that`s just me.

Good fun to play, though. Nice job.

Hi mate, yeah - that's me

My thoughts were to have lights on the targets that go out as you get them - then maybe have some sort of 'fanfair' when you have got them all.

Glad you liked it - thanks for the feedback
