Making Klonoa Levels in LBP (Possible things to make or not)

Archive: 8 posts

Well, Ive been thinking for a while, and since im a big fan of Klonoa. I would actually like to make Klonoa themed levels in LBP, one problem though. I don't know what things in Klonoa could go in LBP. And no I am not talking about the Door to phantom Isle game, im talking about the 2 gba games that are like phantom isle. So im going to make a list, hopefully small of the things that are in the stages of Klonoa, and you guys can decide what could be made in LBP, and what can not be made, also other options for the things that can't be made are also welcome as well. Heres a Link to vision 1-1 of the first gba game I was talking about so you can understand the game better. YouTube - Klonoa: Empire of Dreams - Vision 1 - 1

1.) The beggining of a level (could possibly use this for a series perhaps)
At the beggining of a level, Text appears on screen telling you The world you are in, and the Level of that world. (Ex: 4-2 Meaning World 4, Stage 2) And before that saying Vision, then the numbers.

2.) Completing the level
Alright, this may seem a little strange to put in LBP, but I like it. So, your asking how do you complete a level in Klonoa? Simple really, Theres 3 Star objects you have to grab to open the door to the end of the level. Now note, you dont have to "grab" them, more like touch them really, oh you know what I mean lol.

More Comming soon!

lol, just read your sig......anything to do with that time I visited? xD

Anyway, I've never played the games but I think they could totally work on LBP. If you posted a youtube video to it, it might help people understand firther. I like the idea though

What defines Klonoa is the grab and throw mechanics.... that is not doable in LBP without some major modifications to its nature.

I call "not really doable in LBP" sorry.

What made you choose to make one of the gba games instead of door to phantomile?

I think phantomile would work a lot better because it has much more memorable themes and a lot of landmarks

I won't go into too much detail but if you want any help just pm me

I don't think there's any platformer game that isn't doable in LBP
You just need to use a bit of innovation to replace the things that you can't recreate

Yes there are. Why not? If you make a Klonoa level it means it have to be resembling to Klonoa right? It's not just visuals. How would you proceed to grab and object on the ground so it floats over your head?

Once you pull this off, how you throw that object?

If you still pull this off, how do you throw it under you so it creates a double jump?

See, those are the basics of what makes the Klonoa gameplay Klonoa. If you're not pulling this off, it's not a "Klonoa level" but just a LBP level with Klonoa style visuals.

I don't think you need that exact mechanic to make it a good klonoa level

Because he's only a beginner in terms of creating, i think it'd be best for him just to focus on the basics like the enemies, obstacles etc.

But if you really want to see double jumping and whatever you could split it into different things.
For example:

Double jumping-
You could have a red coloured enemy that only kills you if you jump on its head, but if you grab his side he stops moving and the spikes flip over and you can use it as a spring board

Throwing-
You could have a yellow coloured enemy that is similar to the red one only if you grab it's side it rockets off in the opposite direction and explodes after a few seconds

Those might not be perfect because i'm rubbish at making enemies, but i've covered double jumping, throwing, and whatever you throw the enemy at is destroyed

Sweet! Another Klonoa fan!

I've actually made two Klonoa levels myself. I haven't played the GBA versions. The only one I've played is the one on the Wii. If you could, check out my levels and look at what I've done with them. Maybe if we collaborate on this, we can come up with some awesome designs and make some Klonoa masterpieces!

The video said it was removed for me D:

as to the questions you've asked so far...

BEGINNING:
Text that comes up can be emitted, or put on screen with a piston. To make it float, use very thin (invisible) dark matter (or really any shrunken material) to connect the letters.

END:
This is fairly simple really. Make the stars out of dissolve, and dissolve them when the player walks near/grabs them (your choice as to grab or proximity switch). Now, attatch a key to the star, and a key swith to the wall, set to inverted, so when a person destroys the star, the switch activates. Use a 3 input AND switch to connect up all 3 events, and open the ending.
