Possibly spoilerific question about Metal Gear Solid 3 - MGS3 experts please help!

Alright, don't say I didn't warn you now.

One thing eludes me to this day. It just freaks my mind... are you ready?

When Naked Snake first meets Ocelot ... why the hell does he try loading his Makarov pistol (IIRC) by manually inserting a round into the chamber through the ejection port? I mean, what was he trying to achieve? Apparently Naked Snake knew. It still gets me scratching my head to this day.

Just watched the cut-scene again, I think he did it because his gun was out of bullets and he wanted to load it as inconspicuously and quickly as possible. If he had taken out a clip and loaded the gun Snake might have shot him. Also he's a bit of a show off so there's probably an element of that in it as well .2009-06-09 17:48:00

Aha, I didn't recall him being out of ammo. I did figure a good deal of it had to do with showing off, but didn't understand the practicality of it.

This actually makes a lot of sense now, thank you!

Glad to help . Not actually sure if he was out of bullets but it's the only reason I can think of that makes sense.

It's actually a trick you can do with certain pistols. If you load a round into the barrel aswell as the clip you fire 2 rounds instead of the one. It is explained in MGS3. Hope this helped.2009-06-09 19:20:00

Do you know where in the game that in particular is explained?

The round that's fired is always in the chamber, it is first extracted into the chamber by racking the slide (either manually or through the auto loading function) then fired when the trigger is pulled.. (magazine capacity)+1 is a common configuration for semi-automatic pistols, meaning you have a full mag + one already in the chamber.

A semi-automatic, by definition, cannot fire more than one round at once. It just wouldn't work, even if you somehow managed to squeeze a bullet in there in front of another one extracted from the magazine, the firing pin would hit the one in the rear and .. well..the gun would explode.

Yeah that did sound a bit strange, firing two bullets at once. I don't remember that being explained anywhere, just Snake basically says that he should have know it would jam and that trying a technique for the first time on the field is a bad idea... nothing about firing two bullets.

If my PS3 was BC i would go on and tell you exactly where, it is in a discussion with Big Boss and Ocelot and its explained that it would work in certain weapons but not necessarily that particular gun. Something about a trick that can be done by certain people or something. If i could get on it i would telly ou where and when.2009-06-10 11:53:00

That may ring a bell... I will get to the bottom of this!

It's possible that they're referring to a sort of revolver technique, just to play again on the whole Revolver Ocelot thing... thanks for the posts!

You totally should bambs, if you've never owned any of them I highly recommend the pack they made with all 3 of them for like $30. You get MGS 1 and the special editions of 2 and 3.

Only drawback is, unless your PS3 is BC then you're gonna need a PS2, and for MGS1 it needs a PS1 memory card.

Sarcasm?

And yes it could be in reference to a revolver technique. In the end it's down to big boss that Ocelot becomes Revolver Ocelot seeing as Big Boss gives Ocelot the SAA if I'm not mistaken.

Well you can always play MGS1 on the PS3 as all PS3s play PS1 game . So no need for a PS1 Memory Card.2009-06-10 19:13:00

How is this "spoilerific"? If you have the game and haven't gotten to Ocelot yet then you kinda suck. And even then you didn't really explain who Ocelot is.2009-06-12 20:17:00

Mostly meant that in a humorous way, and you never know - maybe someone totally deprived his or herself of all information of the game to purposefully make the experience totally novel, and wants to be totally shocked when he sees Ocelot stroll in spinning his pistol.
