by the sound of things the guy just wanted to play lbp instead of doing what he was suppose to do (which was having the representative show them the game).

I mean look at how frustraiting it would have been for the representative.

-seeing people make a sticker so big that it stressed the PS3 (remember its a demo put up for E3 not a stable game, its not built to be played, but to show)

-the journalist that were suppose to give the game a test run and let the representative show them around was messing around.

rep : lets finish the level guys
*the journalist customizes his sackboy*

rep. : lets finish the level guys
jour. : can you turn stickers on

their suppose to listen to the representative and let him do the showing while they take note, not get a test run of the game. again it wasn't built to be played, but to show stuff in lbp.

maybe Im just trying to defend MM, but it sounded like the journalist wanted to play LBP than to cover it...

It is a very common technique that presenters will use to do that to problem testers.

I currently work for a company that trains people to drive big mining machines. We have several simulators which are amazing. Often when we are at events and exhibitions there is a long qeue of children wanting to play on our very expensive equipment.

The simulator is very amusing and can be fun but kids don't really understand and will wrench on the controls. When an experienced operator hops in the seat you can tell instantly as they are very fluid and smooth and dont wrench on the controls.

We do not stop the kids playing on it as often there parents are VIP's who may be possible business for us so instead we do exactly what the MM rep did. We restrict them, make them start with the boring stuff so they lose interest and move on. For example we will make them do a task where the simulator just tells you for example "Move the boom in" then you have to push the correct joystick in the correct direction as quickly as possible. You are scored on your speed and how many times you make an error. Then once they have learnt that, we move them onto full control so they can have some fun.

This way only the determined children will stay around and have a proper go.

So... My point is that this guy who wanted to demo the game was being an ******* destroying the level by doing things that are not yet possible on the demo. You have to remember that this is just a demo set up for showing people what can be done, and what you will be able to do and also give people a bit of a go. Not go round doing stupid things like make giant stickers and destroy the level.

The rep was using a technique to make him lose interest and move on because he was not demoing the game, he was destroying it.

Any way this is no cause for concern as you can see that very large things can be created in this game as we have been shown.

Cheers

Although the rep was too snarly, no causes for concern. There are often bugs to be worked out before the game gets released. You should have seen how unstable the Warhawk beta was that I was a part of. It'd freeze 3-4 times in a day.

Wait for the final game. They will have refined and worked most if not all of the kinks out of the game. No worries.

I don't think there is anything to worry about. It's a very early version of the game, and a lot of things aren't going to be working fully so they may have to be disabled.2007-07-26 07:03:00

Yeah, I think a directed demo like that should be a tad more free, the rep was a bit harsh. I mean, that sounds almost the same as watching a trailer. Meanwhile, operating machinery is different because you still experience some self-control, plus the real feeling of using it.2007-08-19 01:05:00

He was just being stingy that was all, maybe he just wanted them to know the basics first then they could go all out and maybe since they frustrated him he decided not be really strict in them.2007-08-19 01:43:00
