I saw on this one site they had this thing called "Contribution points" You get them by donating to the site. You use the points to buy special premium things. Is there anyway this could be implemented here? It would be a great way to encourage people to donate!

If you donate you already get a few nice perks here. Increased private messages slots, bigger avatar, and a bunch of other stuff that I can't recall offhand.
