Connection problems and lag

Archive: 12 posts

Ever since the last update i've had loads of trouble with the connection and terrible lag issues but the last 2 days have been worse than ever.

I've had real trouble joining friends or vice versa for the last 2 days. I've only managed to join about twice and then it's been so laggy the level has been totally unplayable or just frozen the PS3 altogether.

I thought it maybe my wireless connection so i went out and bought an ethernet cable and set up a wired connection but it's made no difference whatsoever.

I've tried resetting the internet connection several times and also tried altering the MTU to 1492 as previously suggested but nothing has worked.
I am now reduced to playing the game alone as every time I get an invite and try to join it just freezes for a couple of minutes and then either throws me back to my pod with various messages such as 'failed to load player profiles' or 'failed to preload game resources' or other such nonsense.

I am now at my wits end and cannot make friends understand that it's not my fault and I can't do anything about it.

Is it the servers or is my PS3 screwed or is it something that appeared with the recent update.

Please help if you can as I'm just about ready to throw the PS3 in the river and jump in with it.

I've had numerous problems since the last update too. Many failed to load all players profile, preloading resources problems where I drop out, game diverged errors. I've also had a ton of DSN connection errors too. I'm hoping the next patch will fix these.2009-06-08 05:51:00

Thanks guys. I thought it was just me. Weird how some friends even in the same country ( UK ) say they never get any lag though. Lucky sods.2009-06-08 09:45:00

I had the lag issue when I first started playing LBP, but not after I enabled UPnP in my router. And I've not seen any lag issues since, even with the newest patch. So I'm wondering, what's your NAT-status under Internet Connection Status on your PS3?2009-06-08 10:06:00

...your router log might shed some clues if there was still a connection problem. If not... could be the known issue as suggested.

Good luck!

UpnP has always been enabled on mine and the Nat status is 2 whatever that means.

NAT 2 is a problem that you may or may not be able to overcome without buying new hardware. With a NAT 2 setting some communication problems might occur.

NAT2 shouldn't be a problem. I found this description:

I've also NAT2. No problem here...

Oops got a bit mixed up there. Sorry about that. I have a NAT3 and couldn't get a NAT2.

my PS3 has been super laggy online, TBH I've only ever played LBP online but have never been able to play a game with out it jumping all over the place or booting me or failing to load.

My 360 on the other hand no problems, I go online all the time and its never laggy.

Could it just be LBP or the whole PSN?
