PS3 HDMI cable help :(

Archive: 14 posts

I recently went to my local retailer to check out HDMI cables for my PS3
http://www.k1cable.com/images/hdmi_000.jpg
I noticed all the cables they had on display were 80-120 USD, extremely inflated...

Can anyone point me in the right direction, or show me to cables that are below 50 USD...

I know they exist, I've heard of 20 dollar HDMI cables before.

Wow that's just crazy. I paid about the same as Killian. Ha, HDMI cables just might be the only thing that's cheaper to buy in Ireland. This government sucks...2009-06-08 00:44:00

I'm wondering if any American retailers sell HDMI cables for under 40 or 30 dollars

I checked both Newegg and Amazon, and they both sell them for 10-20 USD

It's incredible

MONOPRICE.com

They have everything you need for cheap.

There are HDMI cables from 5 to 50$ there. DON'T PAY MUCH FOR THOSE CABLES, it's not worth it.

I have a fairly serious home theater set-up and I got my HDMI cables from monoprice. There is no difference in picture/sound quality between the <$10 monoprice cable and the >$100 monster cable. In fact, many of their components are manufactured at the same factory. Monster ups the cost during assembly by putting in fancy connectors, etc. Then they charge a huge premium even though their modifications don't give better quality (it's a digital signal after all), they are just more expensive.

For analog wires I usually use bluejeanscable. They are only slightly more expensive than monoprice but they actually put in useful upgrades for analog. (They also have neat 'rare' wires like hdmi on one end and dvi on the other. So if your monitor doesn't have hdmi input you can get away with just one cable instead of needing two cables and a converter.)

dcf is spot on. I think it`s laughable when people boast about owning Monster cables, these people are either clueless or have more money than sense.

In the UK you can pick up HDMI cables with gold connectors for under ?10 (about $13) so, I`m sure there are loads of places in the states where you`d be able to source a cheap one.

In the case of HDMI cables, more expensive doesn`t always mean a better product. The Monoprice cable linked to in an earlier post would be perfect.

Hey guys and gals

Thank you so much for all the advice, you guys are the best!!

I purchased my new HDMI cables (1080p) Vizio brand (same brand as my HDTV) for 20 bucks on Newegg

Can't wait for them to get here so I can hand them off to my family so they can wrap them to give to me for my birthday

Not much of a surprise but who cares? My PS3 is finally in HD!

Heck yer!
