Project Chaos (the sequel to my previous level Prologue) (need a few testers)

Archive: 15 posts

Okay, So I've done a good chunk of my level and need just a very small number of people to test out what I've done so far (it's perfectly finished where you'll be playing).
I've got big plans for this level, but with just over a quarter of thermometer left I'm a little worried if I'll fit it all in with the quality up to the standard.

This is a sequel to my level 'Prologue', which I have renamed 'Project Chaos: Prologue'. I've put a ton of work into this new one, and before really digging in to the next bit I need feedback on the current bit.

I would prefer to pick people who have already played my previous level (don't worry about going out of your way to play it now) as it means you'll get the idea of the story and difficulty (aka **** hard!). Though I have made this more forgiving And a bit easier.

But yeah... any takers?

How would be the best way about doing this? I may make a level called 'Project Chaos Beta Unlock' where you put in a password and i give you the key to the level then. I'll PM the password to people.

No screenshots yet Not till it's done.

edit: this is an open beta so if you want to try it out to give me indepth feedback, go to my level 'beta access' and put In the code 7926, the key will then drop down. PSN is ryryryan.

I would gladly test it for you Mr.ryryryryryryryryryryryryan

I'm at the inlaws tonight though and didn't bring my PS3 (although I'm thinking of going back and getting it in a while )

As you know I played Prologue (although I still need to go back and try to finish it ) and making it a bit more forgiving was probably a good idea but only a little bit easier as I love a challenging level

Anyhoo, sign me up bruddah. You can just send me the key as a captured object, as I'm on your friends list

I'll test it if you wish. I have played your prologue level, in the way of F4Fing and always like to test new things. Passcode locks are brilliant for me, as i have restricted internet hours right now.2009-06-07 05:21:00

Right guys, I'm just gunna put the code up for anyone that wants to test it as of doesn't seem like there will be too many anyway find my level named 'beta access' and put in the code by stickers '7926'. The key for the level will drop down infront of you.

PSN is ryryryan any indepth feedback would be fab. You'll notice one path is blocked off... That's being worked on now.

Eh, guess I will... I'm gonna go play LBP now anyway. Although, fyi, it will probably be LBPCSeries who appears on the scoreboard or whatever... that's me 2009-06-07 12:28:00

I realise that there are many infinite checkpoints in my level. I will change a few to be double life checkpoints, but won't re-publish. So if anyone decides to give it a shot, any suggestions on changing parts you found easier would be great.2009-06-08 03:43:00

I have played this a few times now, but I still can't seem to get pass the elevator before the boss. Maybe it would be an idea to put a infinite checkpoint there for now, just for the purpose of testing the whole level and trying out the boss
I love the way you have these little NON obvious paths in your levels, like the bit where you think you have to die and the air vent (and is inspiring me to maybe start my level I had in mind since day one of lbp but nether got around to starting though I have sooooooo many unfinished levels. As I always think of something new lol)

I didn't like the first obstacle at first (the bits of poly that go left and right, that you have to grab to get across). They used to frustrate me all the time. But now I have mastered them and they are not a problem

I noticed one thing last night. The barriers that come down and trap you at the bit where it says "don't panic and stay still" (or something like that). You need to make the proximity switch a bit smaller, as I was only walking slowly and got crushed under the first one and it re-spawned me back up top and therefore couldn't carry on.

Btw I loved the dome thing that traps you and takes you down. It surprised me and was a good mechanism and moment in the level.

Also love the security guard

Can't wait to see what the Bullet Train is ??????
Will that mean there is two endings or will it meet back up with the other path????

Oh yeah and I also like the piston things (the ones that move in all different directions) a lot more in this level (they always seemed a bit hit and miss in the first level for me). Though I do have a suggestion for the last bit of those pistons. When I was on the last one that goes up, I didn't notice where to go and died a couple of times until I saw the checkpoint on the platform to the top right. Because everything is moving so fast I just didn't see it for some reason:blush:. I would probably take out the single thick piece behind you on that top platform so it is a lot easier to see that is the route if you can see the background like the other bits. Or just move the checkpoint right up to the end of the platform so it's more obvious.

I will play this again later when I have the time

Hopefully I will get pass the elevator It just seems to be too crazy and if you die I can't seem to re-spawn without dying. Is there an indication of where the bombs are going to fall as I haven't noticed yet as I get too overwhelmed by the bombardment lol

This is shaping up to be a nice level mate and I will always help you out if you want another opinion on something

Thanks for the feedback! I'll be sure to change stuff you mentioned As for the bombs... yeah! Look on the floor! There are lights on the floor about 2 seconds before the bomb lands lol! But if you want to be safe, just shoot them Infact shoot wildy in the air and you'll be fine.

And yes... two TOTALLY different game paths Don't replay it yet actually. Wait till I say... I'll re-publish the later version with burnvictims suggestions.

EDIT: Okay I've republished the latest version. More infinite checkpoints (Not on the lift though), small improvements here and there, the helicopter blades not count as a hit (but now an increase of paint, but it's still better than before), the lift now has no gun (so you cant blast the bombs away ) and no plasma gun firing at you.

Tell me what you think if you get a chance to play

Also, the bullet train is now available, but it's only a very small teaser of what's to come. If you carry on once you get off the train you will come to a vehicle... which is part of the game from there on. Check that out too if you get a chance, though no gameplay yet lulz.

Oh, and for the sake of the beta, I've taken away the intro so the gameplay starts instantly. It'll be back when the full version releases though.
Which may be a while now... I just got KZ2 and OMG. But keep the feedback coming! Cause if it's stuff to change I usually do it instantly I just need more time and inspiration for my next part (though many good ideas already planned)

Thanks! for the feed back you say

As you know from me talking with you on PSN, I finished the level just before you updated it with the new version
And I did notice the lights on the floor of the elevator in the end, which made it a lot easier

One thing I noticed about the boss was that I could just stand right at the front (where that warning triangle is, just before the searchlights) and just fire upwards. You can't get killed from that position so you might want to change that
Don't know if it's just me, but the boss felt like he was just a little too high when flying above you. But that is just my opinion.....

I rode the Bullet train and went down and tried your huge machine lol
Can't wait for some gameplay in there to try

Also I know that section isn't finished yet, but you can get behind the scenery at the end of the bullet train section (at the end of the wall), and get into the bit where the man is talking to you.
Just thought I'd mention it so you don't forget to close it up

Let me know when you have progressed further with the level and I will try any new bits for you

Thanks!

Unfortuanatly Prototype and Killzone 2 may be taking up some of my time now, but I definatly plan to finish this level very soon! And the next update will be the near completed one My worry right now is there may not be enough thermo space left. If not I may have to take the whole plane section out and change the story so that the company is evil
