Isle of Terror - /Castle/Jungle/Cave/Minecart adventure! (Featuring one big monster)

Archive: 8 posts

Hi guys, this is my first post ever on these boards, and the second thing i've ever published on LBP. It took a pretty long time to make it all, but im pleased with the results and i think you will be to.
Although i only have one comment so far, it sounds promising:
"This level is fantastic, the amount of effort you put in is evident. Work on the dialogue and you have a classic."

So please give my level a shot and tell me whatcha thought about it !
Level name: "Isle of Terror"

Thanks in advance:hero:

Hi solidjacks and welcome. I'll be sure to check out your level asap. if you want lots of feedback on it though you should use the F4F prefix and add some pictures from the level to the post. That will generate a lot more interest.

If you want to give feedback in return just choose any of my newest levels. Arabian Adventure is my newest which is also featured in 'Community Spotlight' and I would recommend my Balboa Park which is the one I won a crown for. If you like race levels and variety try my Duelling Desert Dragsters or Little Vista Raceway levels.

Have fun and I'll leave feedback on yours here later.

okay i just played both balboa and arabian adventures and here are my thoughts:
balboa was nice looking and everything, but not very fun to play.
Arabian adventure on the other hand was much more funner, although the cammel was too slow so i left it behind, and the boss seems a bit out of place tbh, but on the whole i enjoyed it. good job (Y)

I just had a play of your level solidjacks, heres my thoughts as I play.

+ Nice details at the beginning, the chain holding the boat, rope hanging from the front
+ Nice cohesive materials
+ Liked the water effect.
+ Liked the octopus idea for points
+ Excellent effect for the boat on the rapids
+ The cavern looks good, you get the sense of a big open space, nice lighting and decorations to.
+ Wow, the minecart section was incredible, i loved the creature chasing you, very well made and executed.
+ Then the sequence ended with a bang, godd job again, very impressive
+ Great bosses, looked good.

- I'd try and sticker the cardboard in the background, it looks a little out of place with the otherwise excellent materials
- You can hear the motor bolts powering the water, it takes from the effect a little.
- The fire logs that you have to avoid on the boat are hard to avoid, and sometimes you come out of the checkpoint right on top off them, you can't avoid the death
- I fell out the level and ended up at what looked like a minecart section? This was just after I opened the door at the start of the temple, I fell off the end where the springboard is and missed the gas.
- It looks a little drab after the minecart section, some parts are under detailed and need sprucing up to keep it in line with your other sections I think.
- Not exactly sure how or if you could beat the bosses. I died and ended up at the scoreboard, you could do with some magic mouths or something here giving the player a little more direction.

I really enjoyed the level, it looked good and played well. The minecart sequence is outstanding. You can really see the effort you have put into the level. Only than a few minor flaws the level is great.

****, brilliant and hearted

My level is in the sig if you feel like returning the favour

Wow, guy, I wasn't expecting this!

These (I played your other level too ) are really very good levels. They look very similar in style to MM's levels - cartoony, obvious, just very 'friendly' even when there're crazed fire-demons belching at you.

With a little polish these would be easy five-star levels. A little more decor, some rounded corners here and there.

Gameplay was pretty good. The door that automatically closes, as you pull a sponge from above it, it closed me out a couple of times. I'd suggest making it open a smidge farther and stay open longer as well; it's very tricky to get in in time right now.

4-starred, author hearted. You show a lot of promise
