Media Molecule Teabag Crisis
Archive: 41 posts
everyone who reads Media Molecules Twitter will no doubt have seen this message Oh 1.14 is only live in Japan apparently - but is due everywhere else today. In other news - we're out of tea bags, everybody panic! being the kind of person I am, I saw this message as the desperate plea for tea bags it was no doubt intended to be, so posted them an envelope filled with teabags. In these times of reccession I think it's important that we all help provide the fine folks at Media Molecule with infused hot water based beverages. so I urge you all to send them teabags before its too late. :hero: before you ask.... yes it was a slow day in the office today  | 2009-06-06 00:37:00 Author: groble Posts: 223 |
Haha I bet they'd love it if we all sent them tea bags in the mail! We should so do that - with a little note "Thanks for everything! LBPC" | 2009-06-06 01:00:00 Author: hilightnotes Posts: 1230 |

LOL! I was just about to post asking what kind of tea would you send to a UK company. ANY KIND OF TEA. Don't you get it, the british can't survive without tea. We literally melt after 24 hours if we haven't had a nice cup of tea. Or the world ends. I forget which, and I'm to scared to test it, but whatever happens it is bad and I won't let it happen to MM. Luckilly, I have dahjeeling and Assam and I have a stack of padded envolopes. I'm on it boys. | 2009-06-06 10:24:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |

And T is for Twinnings... In seriousness though, out of all my friends, I'm the only one who preferes Tea to Coffee. I dunno why, it's good. Maybe it's something to do with my life goal being like a posh brit, with toast and eggs for Breakfast, pheasant hunting, grey-hound racing..... except for Football. Strange fact: When I was younger I used to drink tea with milk in it. Many years ago I stopped. Then after the Kenny devface video where he mentioned he drank his tea with milk in it I decided to try that again...why not? Now I'm back on the teamilk-wagon. How is that for an epic story? Not 50% milk though, that's crazy. 20-30! | 2009-06-06 11:11:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |

Straight from Douglas Adams: One or two Americans have asked me why it is that the English like tea so much, which never seems to them to be a very good drink. To understand, you have to know how to make it properly. There is a very simple principle to the making of tea and it's this - to get the proper flavour of tea, the water has to be boiling (not boiled) when it hits the tea leaves. If it's merely hot then the tea will be insipid. That's why we English have these odd rituals, such as warming the teapot first (so as not to cause the boiling water to cool down too fast as it hits the pot). And that's why the American habit of bringing a teacup, a tea bag and a pot of hot water to the table is merely the perfect way of making a thin, pale, watery cup of tea that nobody in their right mind would want to drink. The Americans are all mystified about why the English make such a big thing out of tea because most Americans have never had a good cup of tea. That's why they don't understand. In fact the truth of the matter is that most English people don't know how to make tea any more either, and most people drink cheap instant coffee instead, which is a pity, and gives Americans the impression that the English are just generally clueless about hot stimulants. So the best advice I can give to an American arriving in England is this. Go to Marks and Spencer and buy a packet of Earl Grey tea. Go back to where you're staying and boil a kettle of water. While it is coming to the boil, open the sealed packet and sniff. Careful - you may feel a bit dizzy, but this is in fact perfectly legal. When the kettle has boiled, pour a little of it into a tea pot, swirl it around and tip it out again. Put a couple (or three, depending on the size of the pot) of tea bags into the pot (If I was really trying to lead you into the paths of righteousness I would tell you to use free leaves rather than bags, but let's just take this in easy stages). Bring the kettle back up to the boil, and then pour the boiling water as quickly as you can into the pot. Let it stand for two or three minutes, and then pour it into a cup. Some people will tell you that you shouldn't have milk with Earl Grey, just a slice of lemon. Screw them. I like it with milk. If you think you will like it with milk then it's probably best to put some milk into the bottom of the cup before you pour in the tea.1 If you pour milk into a cup of hot tea you will scald the milk. If you think you will prefer it with a slice of lemon then, well, add a slice of lemon. Drink it. After a few moments you will begin to think that the place you've come to isn't maybe quite so strange and crazy after all. | 2009-06-07 17:06:00 Author: hilightnotes Posts: 1230 |
Except that many varieties of tea will be ruined by using boiling water... I do like Douglas Adams though | 2009-06-07 17:28:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |

Well, I as an American enjoy a cup of tea from time to time, I take it with honey or lemon, generally speaking I don't use milk... Speaking as an American I must say, when I saw the words Tea bag & Eminem in the same sentence I wasn't expecting such a civilized thread. Cheers. | 2009-06-09 03:43:00 Author: Gravel Posts: 1308 |
