LBP 2: The Anti-Sack

Archive: 16 posts

Since all the talk of LBP on the PSP Go in the past few days, I have been percolating with plot ideas, and was rather disappointed with the plot of the PSP version, so, I've decided to put one that I've put some great thought into on here for you all to see. I can't decide whether or not it's worth making it into a level (or more likely series of levels), so input from all of you would be greatly appreciated. Now, without further ado, my tale of LBP 2:
(this would be a fake trailer for my story)

*Cue Stephen Fry's voice*
"You all know that the LittleBigPlanet is a land of dreams. A place where all the wonderful things you humans dream about go when you're done with them. But, have you ever wondered what happens to the nightmares?"
*A scene shows a small boy in his bed. He is clearly uncomfortable. He is tossing and turning. A small, blue, angry face pops out of his ear, and he is at rest. The face floats out his open window, up into the air. We see many other 'dreams' of humans that we recognize as stickers. The face floats along with these into space until it reaches a field of innumerable pods with sleeping sackpeople inside. The angry face looks inside a pod, laughs quietly, then shoots off. We see LittleBigPlanet in the distance. The face gets closer and closer, until...! It harmlessly bounces off with a jiggle.
*Cue Stephen Fry's voice again*
"You thought the little ballywagger was going to cause quite a ruckus, didn't you? No. Bad thoughts and dreams cannot enter LittleBigPlanet. The positive energy given off by happy bright little gadders like sackboy prevents this. But wait. What's this?"
*A poppit cursor shoots out from off-screen, catching the face. It pulls it off-screen with it, and we hear evil laughter. The screen fades to black. Quick scenes of The Gardens and other familiar places are shown with the Creator Curators frowning and sad, with everything in black and white, while the lands fall apart around them. A scene of a mountain with a castle is shown. Inside the castle, we see a small, hunched figure standing at the controls of an enormous machine. A conveyor belt filled with identical angry faces is leading into the machine, and we are not shown what comes out the other side.
*Cue voice*
"Oh no! Some naughty Roger let the bad idea in! Just look what it's done! He's using those nightmares to break all the hearts in LittleBigPlanet! The Creator Curator's hearts, and who knows who else's by now, have been broken by that nasty machine, and without them to tend to it, LittleBigPlanet is falling apart! It's up to YOU to repair all this damage, fight your way to that nightmare machine and save all of LittleBigPlanet, sackboy, are you up to the challenge?"

*whew* That was a lot of words.
What do you think?

Thanks thanks thanks!
The response so far has been good (which is a welcome change), and I have a few props on my moon already. I think I'm going to start plans tomorrow, and hopefully have that finished by Monday. Would anyone like to lend me a hand at bring my 'vision' to life?

So this is an idea for a level of for the game?
If its for a level it sounds pretty good.
But if its for the game, well, its not that i don't like it, but you're making a story for a game that doesn't need one...
In other words, you're puting the story at front and putting what the game's about behind, because as you know LBP isn't about completing the story, but about creating stuff, so a deep story just wouldn't fit in.
Yet that doesn't mean the story was bad, i liked it, it just wouldn't fit into the game in my opinion.

Yeah, it's for a level. Well, more than one, actually, right now it's looking to be about three, and this topic is for recruiting people who would want to help me with making traps and enemies and such, while I would do the main level creation.2009-06-05 06:27:00

About medium level. I wouldn't want it too hard for my first major creating venture. Would you be interested?2009-06-05 06:32:00

I'd have to get back to you on that. This is a fresh idea, and I'm only just now starting planning on this. I'll probably have an outline of the whole idea by late afternoon today, and what I'd need from you on Saturday or Sunday. I have much to do 2009-06-05 07:05:00

Hmm, if you could make one or two of those, that would be great. It would let me focus more on the scenery and story. But, again, I'm still only in planning. I'll probably begin production tomorrow, and know what I'll need from both of you on Monday.
EDIT: over 100 of you looking at this and only three people telling me what they think? What happened to 'constructive feedback'?
