Ffvii out on psn yesterday...possible connection to lbp

Archive: 34 posts

yes you heard it from me FFVII is out on the PSN and i was so happy to see this happen. now i know a lot of are thinking.."WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH LBP LAME-O!" lol and i'm getting to that. remember how solid snake and SEPHIROTH were announced when the game came out to be released in LBP? have you thought about it yet? well here it is. the fact that Final Fantasy 7 and ONLY Final Fantasy 7 was released on the PSN yesterday is giving me the impression that tomorrows DLC could possibly be none other then Sephiroth costume. so what do you guys think will happen? will it be released tomorrow? will it be the biggest DLC pack ever? will it even be a level pack or a costume pack? the possibilities are mind bottling and i hope it happens tomorrow lol cuz i really want my sephiroth and possible cloud and other costumes and a level pack and melee weapon and lol much much more2009-06-03 18:56:00

Actually I'm pretty sure I saw another FFVII thread around here somewhere but yeah it'll be awesome if we get FF DLC tomorrow. I haven't heard anything about DLC tomorrow so I hope we get something.

Edit: Nope didn't see a thread here, I saw it on the PS store and read about the update yesterday.

That would be brilliant but I'd have thought Mm would have made a bigger fuss (2000AD style) if it was a FF pack.2009-06-03 19:18:00

I doubt it will be, but I hope it is...

It's nice that FF7 finally came out for the US PSN, even though I still own FF7 for PS, and don't need to buy it. Hopefully it does well enough to convince more people to put PS1 games on the PSN store.

Srry m8, but Its not going to, no one said anything about it, there haven't done any teasers, and i'm pretty sure such thing would've been announced long before it was released.

Not even my sources heard anything of the sort.
(Altho they did say it could be here quite soon)

Yeah, I wonder if they'll ever follow through with that.

Anywho, I'm probably gonna pick up FF7 with my nifty US account for over the summer u_u I'm one of those people who never really got into the main FF games. Although I loved IV and played a good bit of the start of VII
FF Tactics was the best I've had time to play though.

dude my advice, buy it on the PSN. you have it on CD which means AWESOME just like me, and try to go to stores now and look for final fantasy 7, finished looking? didnt find anything? lol i know its not ultra rare but it is sorta rare to find FFVII in stores without lookin thru ebay so soon that CD will cost a whole bunch, and with the PSN version you can let go of your CD for a modest or huge sum of cash and enjoy the game with your fortune haha, hope that all made sense, oh and besides now that means FFVII on PSP lol

Like Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy isn't rare. In fact two of Game Informer's copies are being used to keep Juba's desk level. The only rare version of this game is the black bar edition in mint condition. The last sale for an unopened copy went for $417. Before you get any bright ideas, collectors know how to spot the original shrik wrap.
So.. no, its not worth that much >_>

I guess it'll be a nice way to introduce newcomers to the FF series, if they can stomach the graphics.
They're pretty okay with me, but they look a little bit dated.

And maybe the dlc will come around when ff7 hits the european market too?

Playing FF9 on the psp is a dream. Because it's an iso the loading before battles is much shorter and since it's on that small screen it looks better. I wonder how much I could get for my ps1 ff collection. 8 and 9 in particular have zero scratches on the discs. None. Just like when I bought them. 7 is also pretty much scratch free.2009-06-05 12:24:00

A month ago you probably could have got a lot for FF7... now not so much as it's available on PSN and its only real worth is as a collectors item.

The other FFs should be worth a bit to someone who is a fan or someone who wants to experience the "classics".

Here's FF9 on ebay: Link (http://cgi.ebay.ie/Final-Fantasy-IX-9-Playstation-1-PS1-PAL-BOXED-TESTED_W0QQitemZ120426265233QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_ PC_Video_Games_Video_Games_JS?hash=item1c09f6fa91&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1301|240%3A13 18|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50)

Going for ?21 GBP used and 6 hours to go.

A bit off-topic, but does anyone else think that FF7 is a bit overrated?

I tried it on an emulator not long ago expecting the best ps1 game ever, but as much as i kept playing i just found it really boring - and i usually like the FF games.

I'm still going to buy it now it's on PSN, i'm hoping that it'll get better if i play for a bit longer

Perhaps you just like "action-ish" games with pre-determined "paths" and battle most of the time?
Seeing FF7 one of the points is for story, and another for placing things together, i can see how people who are used to pure action games wouldn't like it.
I myself find it quite entertaining, even after finishing it i feel like playing it some more .

You don't know the impact FF7 had on gamers if you didn't play it when it first came out.2009-06-05 18:26:00

I played it when it came out and absolutely loved it. But it is definately overrated.

As with all things like this (bands, films etc) that are amazing and significant when they come out, and become influential, it has been put up on a rediculous pedestal that no game actually deserves.

It's good to hear at least one person agrees

I understand that it had a massive impact at the time, and now it's mostly nostalgia i'm guessing

I'm still gonna buy it though, i want to complete it before i can judge it properly

i can't agree with it being "overrated" maybe you just don't like a beautiful storyline and just go for running and gunning type. which if true then now i understand. but to be honest Final Fantasy 7 was one of the best in the lineup. personally, i loved Final Fantasy 8 way more just because i loved the story, the characters, and so much more. but i will always have a place in my heart for FFVII and i dont believe that its "flavor" so to speak was only know if you played it at release date or so. all i can say is dont judge it by what you did in the first 5 minutes. play the game and understand the story, enjoy the characters and their personalities and after playing this game. go and watch advent children and understand that too. final fantasy 7 was the greatest in the lineup and it is definitely NOT overrated

that is all

p.s. i look foward to the FFVII DLC and i want Mm to hurry and release it, or at least promise us that it will be HUGE and its still in progress

I definatly wouldn't call myself a "running and gunning type" xD

I don't tend to pay attention to things like the story when i'm playing on emulators though, maybe that's where i was going wrong

I played it at the time actually, and loved games in the same genre before it (Phantasy Star, Shining Force etc), but I could'nt get into it either to be honest. I might pick it up and try it again if its 10 euros.2009-06-06 08:57:00

This has gone seriously off topic people!
Make an FF7 thread or something and discuss your stuff there!
(Funny thing is people are discussing the same thing in the other forums i'm at XD)

Did you read my post? I've played 5/6/7/8/9 - after that I stopped because I just don't have time anymore Played 7 and 8 thru 3 times each I think and I preordered advent children when it came out.

The problem is that fanboys talk about 7 like it is the best thing that has ever happened, in the world, ever. Like it changed the world. It didn't. It's amazing, but it just isn't as good as the fanboys make out. You even say yourself you prefer FF8 (I do too) - so how can it be the best thing in the world ever? As for the storyline, the biggest thing about it, that's not even very good. One of the best in any game I've played, but game plots on average are rubbish so it's not that hard to have a plot that is amazing for a game. If you compare it to the best storylines in other media, like maybe books, it's pants. No game ever made deserves the hype FF7 has - in that respect it is overrated.

ON TOPIC. I don't think that FF7 being released on PSN is related to an LBP download. FF7 is being released because it is playstation exclusive and arguably the most popular game ever made. No doubt the other FFs and many other PS1 games will, but FF7 is the logical marketing choice.

Yeah I'm actually kinda surprised so many of you guys didn't enjoy it or couldn't get into it like me. I had the exact same thing Dexiro, of having it on an emulator. It just seemed like a bit of a chore to play on it. But I'd love to give it a shot on psn. Most of my friends always get very nostalgic about it, and its annoying just listening to them >_>

Its really surprised they finally brought out this on psn, AND MGS1 is coming very soon
I thought they only brought out crap ps1 games on psn =_=

I've just brought it on psn
hoping i'll get some enjoyment out of it, because that was expensive xD

Nice to hear they're releasing MGS1 as well, that's another game i never had chance to play (i need to catch up on the entire series actually xD)

I'm still waiting for them to put the Spyro series on the EU store as well!
