The end of the Microsoft conference contains a large blow to the PS3 franchise. The Metal Gear series has lost its exclusivity and will be coming up on multiple platforms. It's called Metal Gear Solid: Rising and contains Raidin as the main character. "Metal Gear Solid: Rising. Raidin is Back!"

I can't say I wanted this to happen, the series was one of the reasons for people to by a PS3. Still, it doesn't trouble me too much, unless their version is slightly better.

why is it still called Metal Gear SOLID, that's my question. Solid Snake is no longer the center of the story, so let's move on already! Anyway, I thought the trailer was kind of hilarious. Rather than "Tactical Espionage Action", it says "Lightning Bolt Action". Really?? "Metal Gear Solid... RISING!!!", the voice-over declares importantly. Kojima says it's going to be a very different type of game. I'm already imagining more action-oriented, like Ninja Gaiden (but less Sega-Arcade style).

They definitely should change it. Maybe they will? It's probably a fear that certain people won't recognize it as the same franchise. It's not "MGS" if it's "MGR". eye-roll. I know it's not a big deal, but I think it's stupid to me to hold onto "Solid", when Kojima himself has made such a big deal about Snake's story being over and done. And as for console wars - well I don't keep my position hidden on that topic. Screw the console wars. Everybody, forget it. Don't give a **** about Microsoft vs Sony vs Nintendo. Play games. For God's sake - Play games. I get it - we can't AFFORD both, so we have to PICK one, and then we attach a stigma to the one we don't have, because we CAN'T have it. The reason I don't own both a PS3 and an Xbox360 is because I feel they're practically identical. Most of the games I play are available on both. I miss out on some Xbox exclusives, so I play them at a friend's house. But the reason I don't play it isn't because I have ANY loyalty whatsoever to Sony - it's because I feel like the consoles are the same, and I'm not going to shell out over 300 bucks for the same thing twice. If they each offered something drastically different, I'd sign up. If Natal takes off, if it even begins to deliver on its promise, I'll pick me up some of that. the only reason I have a PS3 is because I failed in flipping it on eBay when I first got it. The bubble burst, if you all recall. I got stuck with a console I didn't particularly want, and out a good deal of cash. I wasn't going to buy either system until some games I really really wanted started coming out. Given time, it may have ended up being Bioshock, it may have ended up being LittleBigPlanet. Who knows. But the console war should be buried deep, deep underground. It only breeds closed-mindedness. If you really care about videogames, you wouldn't cling to a corporation and attach some personal stigma to "the other guys".

I wouldn't mind if it was on PS3 too, but the fact that it's on 360, and I can't afford a 360 (let alone my parents would never actually allow me to buy one as they don't like videogames as it is) this really does take the mick. Hopefully IGN was wrong and it's multiplatform. I'm sure MS would of shouted this out if it was.

smart people already stopped it, but the people without brains are still fighting. it'll never end, unless there is no console exclusivity anymore. The day we would have a unified medium for videogames (prolly coming in a gen or two), the competition would be 100% at the games' level. So people would fight anyways, just games vs games instead of consoles vs consoles. .

Alright im weighin in. That aint raiden. Can't be. Raiden was all frankestiened together and started his "family" at the end of MGS4. No snake. Ever. Again. He dead yo. You guys ever play MGS 1 : VR? You do the ninja missions? Thats what im hoping/expecting for. Console wars : I'm hurt. Very hurt. Ask ham, I traded in my 360, 18 games, 2 guitar hero guitars, and 3 wireless controllers, and all I was able to amass was enough for a 20g ps3 and MGS4. I did it, and it was worth it! This is like a hot knife in my buttery back.

Well it's coming to ps3 and pc as well...but Kojima isn't involved in the game at all, he's doing peace walker (wow that was dumb), so I'm definitely more hyped for the psp mgs! Yes, Peace Walker for the PSP. And we do not know yet, but if my previous speculation is correct, it may be that his eyes were replaced again after he was "rebuilt" the first time. If not, it could be that the new team working on Rising doesn't know what it's doing. Or there could be a real reason.

Well snakes story isnt really over, Becuase they could just make more clones, like they did with BigBoss to make Liquid,Solidus,and Snake. But who know's Konami might just bring Snake back but as a clone. IMO.I think I going to Buy MGS:R 4 the reason that Snake is the whole point of the MGS saga not Raiden. Although I might buy MGS peace that is going to be Release on PSP ... Becuase you play as BigBoss again and some Clone's. But ever since I played MGS on PS3 The PS2 MGS's Look like if im playing a NINTENDO game.

Well i'm not overly bothered about the console war to be honest but I must admit that I am not too pleased about MGS:R going multiplatform. So long as the PS3 version isn't held back in anyway due to the 360's restraints on game size etc I will buy the game. Im not too keen on Raiden being the main character however, we just have deal with it and hope that this is a decent game when it's released. One question though...Why does Raiden have a bandana over his left eye? Hmmmmm you puzzle me so Kojima! I can't wait for MGSW on the PSP though, i loved Portable Ops and Portable Ops Plus so i can't wait for this especially with its new features like proper sneaking etc.

And why does he have a scanner mark thing on his head? and what about those 3 dots top right of his forhead!? I still don't think that particular picture is Raiden. Though he will obviously be in the game. It could easily all be due to another body surgery thing with putting his armour back on... but seriously, that's kinda lame after MGS4's ending. Hopefully they implement it into the story well.

I believe this game is a sequal to MGS4 I'm not expecting much, Unless they make it multi disk on the 360 the ps3 version wont even be on half a blue ray never mind duel layered like MGS4 was. Raiden is an annoying character and unless they make him play more like Snake (which it is obvious they wont) it just wont feel like an MGS game. Peacewalker on the other hand i cannot wait for, I was a massive fan of portable ops. infact i am still playing today when i have the time so they can't really go wrong with this one. and with Kojima himself being an intergral part of the making of peacewalker it will be the next true game in the MGS franchise.

Since it has been said that the gameplay will be different than that of MGS4 I cannot wait to see the new gameplay mechanic. I really do hope they fill in the gaps between MGS2 and MGS4 and give us alot of crucial information about Raiden's past. I don't really like the character that much but I do want to know all about him.

It should be interesting to see how the gameplay turns out. I hope they can pull it off well. If it turns out terrible it won't be a huge loss to me as it's only Raiden's story.
