Zilla's Neighborhood 1 & 2 [Pics/Video] Spotlighted

Please try my levels, Zilla's Neighborhood parts 1 & 2. I just finished part 2 today, and am still working out any bugs it might have. But it's pretty much done. All constructive criticism is welcome. | 2009-06-01 04:10:00 Author: Godzillionaire Posts: 20 |
I think I remember playing #1 by finding it on new levels a while ago. It had some pretty nice enemies and two different endings which is nice. The endings are changed by such a small thing (lol) I'm sure a bunch of people missed it. I will try #2 later. | 2009-06-01 05:32:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |
Thank you. Part 2 doesn't have different endings, and the little story only makes sense if you get the better ending from the first one. I was thinking of putting a key to the 2nd one, at the end of the first one if you got the better ending, but decided not to. Playing it just now. - Is there something wrong with the 1st magic mouth you come to? When I run up to the guy in the house a magic mouth appears and then disappears before I can read it and another pops up in a seemigly different place. It certainly looks to me like there are two magic mouths there, but I can only ready one. - There are a couple of frustrating parts inside buildings. I couldn`t see what was going on at all at the part where you go inside to kill the monster upstairs and only did that by luck. Seemed something was throwing me across the room? The other part was at the bit where you get thrown up the chimney. I would more often that not, find that I`d miss the chimney because I couldn`t see Sackboy properly. And first time I made it up I got hit the instant I left the chimney by a plasma ball. At one point I got hit despite having not made it all the way up the chimney yet. Is it possible to maybe have the front of the house on a thin layer that gets removed when you`re in the house and replaced once you leave? - I`m guessing at that house that you don`t need the gun to hit that guy that says he has the key? Having made it up a few times without much sucess once I was there, I went all the way back to the last checkpoint and grabbed the gun to see if that`d maybe work. It was on that occasion I got killed by the plasma ball before I`d made it out of the chimney. I got a bit angry and quit. I'll give it another go at some point. | 2009-06-22 18:36:00 Author: Matt 82 Posts: 1096 |
There is just one magic mouth there. I didn't notice a problem with it, but I'll try to figure out what is wrong. The stairs push you up to the next level and it can be a bit wonky, but it was hard to figure out how to make stairs to go up to the 2nd floor when they're both on one layer. I'll spend some time trying to improve that, but I don't know if i can. I never had trouble getting up the chimney, but I guess that goes with me being the creator and knowing how it works. You'll need a paint gun at that part, and there is one right next to that checkpoint. I'll put it in a more obvious place. And I'll fix the problem with the fireball going down the chimney. Thanks for your feedback. HI OLDAGE! I knew I'd see you here.http://www.emoticonplay.com/emoticons/animated/animated-7.gif | 2009-06-22 20:52:00 Author: Godzillionaire Posts: 20 |
Well I`ve done them both now. The changes you made to the first were good. I think my problem with the magic mouth at the start was that I was out of the sensor zone when I was right next to the guy, so it was disappearing when I was close to him. I really didn`t see the gun at that last bit before, but was easy to find this time. Part 2 was fantastic I thought. Had a really good atmosphere and the woods were excellently made. While I thought part 1 had it`s issues, part 2 gets 5 stars and a heart from me. | 2009-06-22 22:32:00 Author: Matt 82 Posts: 1096 |
Checked them both out last night and I really like them. They are moody and mysterious and sweet all at the same time. I think your silhouettes are some of the nicest I've seen too. I liked the alternate endings and especially enjoyed the plot on the second level. My only con would be the legnth. With that many shapes your thermo must be close to maxed but even just a bit longer would be cool. Don't change what you've got on these two but maybe something to keep in mind for the next one if you decide to make it. 5 stars and Hearts from me. Thanks for sharing them! | 2009-06-22 23:18:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
I just played both of these... and i have to say they are awesome. I love how dark creepy and cool they are.. wonderfully halloweeny.. and cute.. i love the simplicity.. very stylish.. and totally different from pretty much every other level i've seen.... i love how you have the people in the houses as shadowed and silhouette.. great shadowed monsters.. fun story.. and i love all the infinite checkpoints... leaves me free to just enjoy i really have to say that your two levels are prolly some of my favorite (if not my #1 favorite) levels i've come across so far... i especially love the first one.. i didnt realize there were multiple endings.. ill have to go back and try again... i think i got the good ending i'm sorry i dont have any constructive criticism, other than "your levels rock!!" i look forward to showing them to a few of my fellow halloween and creepy-loving friends.. please continue this series when you have time.. i'm hungry for more | 2009-06-23 04:58:00 Author: Unknown User |
You guys are tremendous. I'm very happy that you like them. Morgana25: Chroma Stone Chronicles is my new favourite series. I look forward to part 4 and anything after that. My only con would be the legnth. With that many shapes your thermo must be close to maxed but even just a bit longer would be cool. Don't change what you've got on these two but maybe something to keep in mind for the next one if you decide to make it. The thermometer on both of them is full. I couldn't fit another thing. I had planned for part 2 to be much longer. I was half-way into drawing the level when the thermometer overheated, and i had to go back and change a lot of things. So i spent most of my time on that level trying to work with the thermometer. Bad planning, but I think I've learned my lesson. i'm sorry i dont have any constructive criticism, other than "your levels rock!!" I don't mind! I really appreciate it. | 2009-06-24 09:03:00 Author: Godzillionaire Posts: 20 |

Sorry about the delay in getting feedback to you, many things have come up in the past four days. Anyway, both Zilla's Neighborhood 1 & 2 are awesome. The level objective is great, and I really enjoyed fighting your monsters, which looked fantastic, by the way. I really liked all of the detail in your levels. The lighting had a great effect, especially when playing inside the neighborhood houses and seeing through windows, which was awesome. I particularly liked the ending, or should I say, endings, which I have to admit made me laugh. I really like the name of your monster, I think I was laughing for about five minutes the first time I read it. Sorry if it was supposed to be intimidating, but I thought it was rather funny. Overall, I really enjoyed both levels. :star::star::star::star::star: for detail, gameplay, and uniqueness! | 2009-07-31 03:42:00 Author: cid_incognitus Posts: 19 |
Thank you for the great feedback. Haha I was going more for "cute" than "intimidating" with the monster's name.. I'm glad you liked that part. | 2009-08-04 19:06:00 Author: Godzillionaire Posts: 20 |
I've played both of these... very nice visuals, moody, and a great art style. I like when someone has a strong foundation of quality etching and carving in their character models and environment before putting a silhouette or fog effect over it - it's craftsmanship + style, rather than just using effects as a cover up for an otherwise average look and design. So that wins you points in my book. No troubles running through them for me, and taking it all in. A good couple levels with a good feel to them that will make for a very nice series if you decide to keep it going. | 2009-08-05 11:49:00 Author: Unknown User |
You're too kind. I've played some of your levels and was blown away by things you did in them, so it's an honour to hear you liked mine. | 2009-08-06 21:53:00 Author: Godzillionaire Posts: 20 |
