Is there a way tomak an objec dissapear w/o leaving smoke?
Archive: 25 posts
I can't seem to be able to find a way to make objects "dissapear" w/out leaving smoke behind weither it be by emmiter or dissolvable material. This of course stops me from making some suff. I know the glass trick w/ the emmiters, but i can't have what i want to dissapear made out of glass, and Pistos will break/ screw up... So anyone knows a way to make objects dissapear w/out leaving that annoying cloud of smoke behind? | 2009-05-31 08:55:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
You can always use protected brains but be careful what you glue whatever the brain is on to, one time I glued an enemy to the level and put the brain on and when I killed it it made the whole level disappear. I'm not sure how many people know this but you can connect switches to protected brains to "kill" them. You just connect the switch to it like you would connect a switch to anything else and set it to "one-shot" setting. I hope this helps! If it doesn't, I'll try to think if there's any other way to do it. | 2009-05-31 08:59:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |
can you still use the plasma ball glitch? Stick a delethalised plasma ball to something then hit the plasma ball. this will make the plama ball and anything glued to it vanish. edit: 49DRA mentions it here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=10006&highlight=plasma) | 2009-05-31 11:16:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Yeah, what rtm said. However, this makes a plasma sound when you destroy it. I still haven't found a way to get around THAT particular annoyance... | 2009-05-31 15:21:00 Author: dawesbr Posts: 3280 |
There are lots of ways to get things to disappear but they all leave smoke or make a noise or give you points. We really need a glitch or something to get things to vanish completely | 2009-05-31 15:33:00 Author: Coxy224 Posts: 2645 |
dawesbr, more importantly it seems like that glitch no longer works | 2009-05-31 15:53:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Really? That's a real shame! Guess you may have to just crush the darned thing... | 2009-05-31 15:59:00 Author: dawesbr Posts: 3280 |
Well, those are helpful for making an object dissapeear once, but i need the object dissapearing and appearing many times quickly, the thing is that its a small-ish platform and the smoke makes it practically impossible to see where the platform starts/ends... And i can't just use a fast piston since its different platforms that need to be placed, so they need to be emmited. | 2009-05-31 18:22:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
Hm... is this what I think it is, or is it something completely different? Well, you know what I mean by if I knew what I knew what it- ... look, a monkey! /runs | 2009-05-31 18:27:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
quite certain you can't make something dissapear without the smoke... sorry, why do i have a feeling this has to do with a trap? | 2009-05-31 18:34:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |

But i cannot confirm or deny it...yet! | 2009-05-31 18:42:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
Is it possible to emmit the platform, then have it connected to a flipper piston going down. The flipper pison would be connected to a 1-shot on a time delay. So... you emmit, x seconds later the platform drops so rapidly it may as well have disappeared. At x+0.1 seconds the emmiter time runs out and the platform genuinely disappears. you can the emmit another one. This is the best I can do without knowing the rest of your set up. | 2009-05-31 18:48:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Yeah, i tried that, but it screwes up after a bit. Maybe if it didn't habe to be so fast that'd work, but it has to. | 2009-05-31 18:51:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
how fast are we talking? | 2009-05-31 19:35:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
About 1 object every 0.1 inj other words, as fast as possible | 2009-05-31 22:32:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
so you want it to appear, then disappear 0.1 later then have another one appear 0.1 after that, or the second to appear after 0.1 as well? | 2009-05-31 22:59:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
How it works is one appears for 0.1 then at the moment it dissapears the 2nd appears for 0.1 and so on for the 5 different ones then after the 5th the 1st appears again and so on in a cycle. But none are visble because of the smoke what appears and won't leave for threy keep dissapearig... >_> | 2009-06-01 00:41:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
maybe make it spawn, fall, spawn, fall, spawn, fall, (like spawn every 0.2 secs, and lifetime 2sec, so it spawns, falls, then while another spawns, it dissapears below) | 2009-06-01 01:08:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
I need the platforms to be stable... | 2009-06-01 01:25:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
I tried a couple of ideas that logic told me should work. But they didn't, because my objects weren't spawning in the position I captured them in . I might have thought of somat else, but it's 2:30 and apparently I have to work for a living If I get anything working I'll let you know. It's definately a toughy. | 2009-06-01 02:27:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
I still can't think of a way around this...but maybe some exploit to do with the multiple materials on one layer bug... | 2009-06-01 16:48:00 Author: dawesbr Posts: 3280 |
I still can't think of a way around this...but maybe some exploit to do with the multiple materials on one layer bug... Tried it but it gets all buggy and slows down the place. | 2009-06-01 16:59:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
Tried it but it gets all buggy and slows down the place. Hey Silver, Rick Rock 777 just did something like that on his Takken level. I dont know what or how he did it or if he will share his secret but PM him, he might be able to help you. | 2009-06-02 16:19:00 Author: AJnKnox Posts: 518 |

I'll check it out first to see if its what i'm looking for. EDIT: Played it and i didn't see such thing in the level. >_> | 2009-06-02 23:48:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
Hi Silverleon and everyone posting here. EDIT: I have created a thread on this in the Tutorial Forum. I have been planning on creating a thread on this very issue, to share it with the Community at large. My goal is to have it up this weekend, but not sure yet which forum would be the best for this topic. Suggestions anyone??? As AJ said above, I did accomplish emitting the plasma rings on my Plasma Generator in Takken (showcase thread below in sig.) without the smoke. The Plasma Generator is in the middle of the large chamber, which is the 3rd room after being transported to the alien mothership. I recommend playing the EASY version to see what I'm talking about. And if you like the level, please rate it, and I would definitely appreciate some feedback on my Showcase thread. I'm not looking for hearts or increasing my plays, just improving my first level to a 5-Star rating, as I plan to recreate it in a different location anyway from scratch about a week before I release Part 2 of this series. Rick EDIT: Sorry, didn't mean to leave you hanging until I got a thread going. Have you tried using glass as the bottom platform and gluing another non-skid material to the top? You could use any non-skid material, make it as thin as possible until it is invisible. Then glue the platform to the underside of the invisible material and capture that as your emitted object. | 2009-06-06 03:19:00 Author: RickRock_777 Posts: 1567 |
