Me and 2 other creators are planning to start a level series near the end of june... and do not ask to join, if i enjoy your wonderful creations, THEN will i ask you for assisstance... pretty much, made by creators I THOUGHT were the best in their areas, and dont judge a book by its cover, (ex. me, my levels show 0% of my talent...i mostly fool around/learn/build/etc. in create..) CREATOR/EFFECTS: Johnrulz77 / Twins2004 LIGHTING/DESIGNER/DETAIL: KoRnDawwg / KoRnDawwg BOSSES/ENEMIES/NPC: Burnvictim42 / Burnvictim42 TRAPS: Silverleon / Yarudark this thread is for more ideas, so far the storyline is you venture into different areas of the world and explore them... IDEAS FOR NOW... AREA 1 : The Tomb of Anubis AREA 2 : is yet to be thought up... it will include a forest... AREA 3 : The Base of the Templars (a group of knights from ancient times, might be called the Temple Knights) AREA 4 : Bermuda Triangle pretty much, each section will be based on a REAL location, with REAL facts and such, but.. the bosses will be myth and/or fake to give the levels more effect... AREA 1 BOSS : a scarab guardian + anubis AREA 2 BOSS : probably a spider.. AREA 3 BOSS : a giant "possessed" Suit of Armour / a Knight AREA 4 BOSS : a Hydra **IDEA** I DO HAVE an idea for the story..... but only if people like it will I use it... anyway here goes, your friend is opening up a museum, but he wants it to be the greatest one of all! Sadly, he has nothing to work with... so he asks you to venture the world to retrieve an artifact from each area... and in the last level, you could possibly be at the museum, being congratulated at the grand opening, and then the creatures from the area's that you explored come to attack and retrieve their possesions... PS: i am sorry for the centered writing, i just enjoy it lol.. | 2009-05-29 20:54:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
Sounds great, I would definitely stick with the idea of retrieving artifacts for a museum. If you were to go for that then the series title could be "Museum of Adventures" or something like that- I'm not that good at naming levels... | 2009-05-29 21:16:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R Posts: 1606 |
Yeah sounds like a cool idea. There's room for a whole lot of ideas in there. Plus the option of sequels. More items for the museum or help the friend in his new business. How's the character get from the museum to the other areas? | 2009-05-29 21:25:00 Author: Chicago51 Posts: 258 |
@ sas --- lol ty for the opinion, it might be something like that... and ty chicago... for posting a second before me... @ chicago --- uhm its a series of levels...... so you simply start near the area of the world in each level... and remember, the artifact/museum thing... is just an IDEA! | 2009-05-29 21:25:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
lol that was mad | 2009-05-29 21:26:00 Author: Chicago51 Posts: 258 |
Sounds like a solid idea, lots of things to work off. If your taking level ideas, i think the north pole would be a good area, and the boss could be a yeti :] | 2009-05-29 22:58:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
lol cool idea! i might use that! | 2009-05-29 23:20:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
and remember, the artifact/museum thing... is just an IDEA! It seems like a really good idea for a level series though- you could arrive in a desserty egyptian sort of level in a jeep, enter a large tomb, go on an epic adventure and come back with a jewel in the back of the jeep again and go to the scoreboard. The north-pole idea there sounds good aswell- you could arrive in a ship (breaking through the ice (glass)) go on an epic adventure through a blizzard and find a temple ruins with something that you bring back in the ship. I don't know, there's just so many possibilities for that idea. I'm not going to suggest any bosses or anythng, that's not my side of things- which reminds me- what were you going to say 2 weeks ago when my internet connection cut off? | 2009-05-29 23:23:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R Posts: 1606 |
Glad to be of help | 2009-05-29 23:24:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
S-A-S i really dont know what you mean... 2 weeks ago, im lucky to remember what i ate that day... anyway yeah, besides, those possibilities are going to include new inventions! like custom music, that doesnt just play in an area, pfft. it follows you! | 2009-05-30 01:32:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
Ive always wanted to do something similar to the music idea, but i cant really make them. You can use my idea if you like- Have a custom music set on some dark matter at the top of the level or underneath, and a automatic vehicle emitted so it goes along playing the song, which is timed to dissapear and re-emit when it reaches the end of the track. Not sure about the thermo space though :/ | 2009-05-30 01:46:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
my idea is similar, and secretive, i WOULD use yours, but mine uses no thermo... | 2009-05-30 03:27:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |

Not sure about the thermo space though :/ I've actually used that method before... it doesn't work too well =/ Theres really only a set range for the player to hear the music, and you can only hear parts of the song, and its REALLY thermo heavy. I ended up trashing it because of this (and people thought it was annoying lol) | 2009-05-30 07:17:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |

mine uses like 0-1% thermo | 2009-05-30 14:06:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
mine uses like 0-1% thermo If thats true then your on to something genious :] Make sure the music is interesting though-If it gets too repetetive it will bug people and decrease the level's popularity. Also, if you need a beta tester when the levels are done i'd be more then happy to. | 2009-05-30 14:15:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
thanks for the volenteer, and btw; it takes up no thermo in a level thats 70%+ full | 2009-05-30 14:27:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
Wow, thats amazing :] Another level idea- Underwater (Not sure where) As for the boss, some kind of sea serpent / giant fish | 2009-05-30 14:30:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
If your taking level ideas, i think the north pole would be a good area, and the boss could be a yeti :] Yetis are from the Himalayas, if I remember correctly. thanks for the volenteer, and btw; it takes up no thermo in a level thats 70%+ full There are separate thermometers; the one you see is just the one that's filled up the most at the time. There's a thread about it somewhere.... | 2009-05-30 14:37:00 Author: Sackdragon Posts: 427 |
Yetis are from the Himalayas, if I remember correctly. There are separate thermometers; the one you see is just the one that's filled up the most at the time. There's a thread about it somewhere.... Alright, the himalayas then More level ideas- Australia, boss is a bunyip China, Boss is dragon Dont know where, but another possible boss is a garuda. | 2009-05-30 14:40:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
LOVE the story idea! Don't change it! Man it's gonna be a Hell of a series Glad to be making it with ya. | 2009-05-30 19:14:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
Yeah i can't wait to see what comes out of this. | 2009-05-30 22:22:00 Author: Chicago51 Posts: 258 |
All these boss suggestions are starting to scare me lol. But there are some pretty cool ideas being thrown out there | 2009-05-30 22:47:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
as much as i thank the ideas, dont worry burn your only gonna need to make like 2-3 over a couple months... WITH assisstance too... (because if its 5lvls lets say, i already got anubis, and soon to be hydra...) BTW, I ALSO THOUGHT... maybe in the end, like the very end, at the attack in the museum, you could have a giant boss made from like all the bosses, (like knight's armour, hydra heads, anubis necklace, or w/e) | 2009-05-30 22:58:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
S-A-S i really dont know what you mean... 2 weeks ago, im lucky to remember what i ate that day... Lol, it was when you were showing me those egyptian character things and I said I'm not that good at making complex enemies. I couldn't get my internet back on untill the next day. Burnvictim42, I played the egyptian boss you made- it was really good. | 2009-05-30 23:46:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R Posts: 1606 |
oh, i was gonna say its fine, i'd get someone else, but as of now, i dont mind starting with a different level, btw guys, ill make the first level whichever one uses least amount of thermo (for the museum intro) or i might just make a short 2 minute prologue level... whichever works best... | 2009-05-31 00:54:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
Good luck Please do tell if you need a hand with ideas / testing etc. since i have no other projects (I /still/ need the MGS pack x.x) | 2009-05-31 01:31:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
ok, thank's to the amazing skill and speed of burnvictim (robot -.-) the hydra boss is just about complete! PS: im actually trying something new, which i think will work ALOT better, instead of building the level from scratch, or planning it out and getting frustrated at something "not being possible" to do, im BUILDING and GATHERING important items, BEFORE we start, to lift the load. (dont think im an idiot, i am going to plan, just alot easier this way) for ex. bosses, and key items, like 4 is burmuda triangle so ships, hydra, etc. (i might change that area... cant really think of a story for burmuda, cuz im trying to keep the stories real) | 2009-05-31 14:54:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
Well for the bermuda level, couldn't you have the sack flies in on a plane, but suddently it is struck down by some strange creature (The hydra) and the sack should have to pass through the island inhabited by strange animals perhaps. | 2009-05-31 16:19:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
thats good! ill use that one! but i need a STORY, like why would he go to burmuda triangle (i chose the hydra boss because it says nobody survives going to the burmuda triangle, so a creature adds more drama) | 2009-05-31 18:14:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
A reason why? It depends, are you sticking with the museum idea or something different? | 2009-05-31 18:44:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
when will it be done? | 2009-05-31 18:47:00 Author: blizzard_cool Posts: 752 |
lol, Dude i just saw the 1st post and you wrote "Silverleon / Silverleon" But my PSN is "Yarudark" m8 so it should be "Silverleon / Yarudark" | 2009-05-31 18:48:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
yeah srry silver, blizzard, its barely started lol, i think lvl1 will be area 3, cuz korndawwg sorta already designed a look, and i showed him how i want the beginning done... and fish, no i was just thinking, what kind of artifact/reason would the museum guy tell him to go to the burmuda triangle. recover an artifact in a ship and end up sending him a hydra head? what could i make it? | 2009-05-31 20:12:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
All the bosses in one? Epic! Like the boss in Mission 18 of DMC2, Argosax the Chaos: YouTube - Devil May Cry 2 Dante DMD Mission18 S rank Btw I hope you like the concept, very thermometer heavy so I may have to change some materials. | 2009-05-31 20:22:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
It could be one of the last levels- The museum owner tells you about a previous wroker he had who went searching for something in the bermuda triangle, but went missing and never came back. After telling you the story, although not wanting to initially, he asks you if you would go and find his worker for him. You go to the island and crash, go through the level and find the worker, then as you are exiting the island via a makeshift boat, the hydra comes out of the water in a bid to stop you. | 2009-05-31 20:31:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
ill use something like that! but ill kill the worker... MWUHAHAHAH! and korn, yeah it was awesome, especially the room, as for the entrance thing, i make a very basic example, too bad you signed off, im sure you'll like it, its just lacking detail | 2009-05-31 20:34:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
I needed to go on my laptop before it was too late, can't stay up for long because I have to go and comply with a pointless system that is school tomorrow. I can't learn anything in a classroom, always have to work at home. | 2009-05-31 20:37:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |

MWUHAHAHAH! and korn, yeah it was awesome, especially the room, as for the entrance thing, i make a very basic example, too bad you signed off, im sure you'll like it, its just lacking detail xD I was thinking killing the worker would be a good idea. Perhaps you find a note/journal and a makeshift boat alongside him? | 2009-05-31 20:37:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
I always like depressing endings like that, takes a break from all the typical "Let's have a moral message and a happy ending 'cause we need to consider how stupid our audiences are!" that you find in sitcoms like Everybody Loves Raymond. God I hate that show... | 2009-05-31 20:38:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
i guess we're doing the beginnings of the levels now, im going to work on the hydra entry... | 2009-05-31 20:51:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
I'm still working on materials, I do think stone materials would be perfect. Maybe just fewer materials... Oh and here are a couple of pictures of the concept theme I designed (with John's guidance, where to place things and whatnot...) http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=363&pictureid=4146 The above is a concept idea of the Victorian-style castle for the Temple Knights. Need a few paintings in there and fewer materials cause this took up 30% of thermometer. The below is just a quick one I took of a pretty-looking hidden entrance to the above room. Very rough and uncoloured so it looks a bit bland... http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=363&pictureid=4147 | 2009-05-31 21:04:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
Wow, it looks great Korn | 2009-05-31 21:21:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
That ye very much, but I need John to help me 'cause I need to know what goes where and what stuff I need to put in, etc. | 2009-05-31 21:42:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
Me thinks this could be something very good when it's done :] | 2009-05-31 22:09:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
Looks cool so far! | 2009-05-31 23:40:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
I'm looking forward to this series and just read through the whole thread. The story reminds me of Tomb Raider and this could be an EPIC series of levels @ Korn........ Those pics are very tasty and are looking good | 2009-06-01 00:05:00 Author: dorien Posts: 2767 |
yeah, he might need to lighten up the creepyness JUST a tad... | 2009-06-01 00:43:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
Meh, i think the creepyness is good, adds atmosphere, y'know? | 2009-06-01 17:36:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
Whoops, I guess the creepiness is kicking in from my Devil May Cry levels, ****, I prefer a little gloom when it comes to this stuff but I will brighten it up if you like I'm just too used to creating atmospheres like that, it's rather fun. I was aiming for the lighting I used in DMC Mission III, just a bit lighter and easier on the eyes in terms of brightness. That level was almost too dark, but it was necessary, but I now have a slightly different idea - How about sepia skies, strong bronze/grey and then a sudden blast of colour in the Victorian castle - warm reds, stone-greys, stained glass and shades of Earth-brown? I could try purple but meh, what do ya think. I'll certainly brighten it up a tod. | 2009-06-01 20:29:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
ur gonna kill me saying this, but ur idea rocks, just make it a tad creepier? lol... pretty much, what you had before, just please no constant beat you added, also, for materials, use stickers instead of different glass material.. OK MORE BAD NEWS! i got some hydra parts from burn, and constructed the most epic hydra ever.... it has 6 heads, and it grows a possible 24 heads at a moment, sadly it takes up 95% of the thermo.... | 2009-06-01 21:06:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
oh..gawd xD Perhaps..uh..Have it as a seperate level? | 2009-06-01 21:10:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
lolwut? 95% of the thermo? wth did you do? The boss is only 4.5 bars normally, copying it shouldnt make that much of a difference. and i'm still shrinking it D: | 2009-06-01 21:14:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
Bloody Hell! 95% Thermo?! No way  | 2009-06-01 21:21:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
actually i think it was more, (half a bar left) but it was epic. theres no other word to describe it... | 2009-06-01 21:24:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
^ LOL, my word is catching on well isn't it? xD Epicness. I'll have fun putting it in a water scenario then? | 2009-06-01 21:30:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
no.... you wont. ill have to tear down sections.... .. burn, mind going online now? ill be busy with hours of homework all day, cuz i left all my assignments till the end of the year.. so ill quickly show you | 2009-06-01 21:34:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
@ Burn: +10 points for perfect use of lolwut xD @ John: Just get rid of a couple of the hyrda parts and keep the level relativley basic so you dont overheat | 2009-06-01 21:43:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
Simple is still pefect, remember that. Cheap techniques are good, as long as you use them as effectively as you can | 2009-06-01 21:44:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
well i can't go online right now... my dad has decided in his infinite wisdom to block the internet on my PS3 >.> We'll see when the ban lifts >.> | 2009-06-01 22:32:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
aw, that sucks... | 2009-06-01 22:46:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
yes. yes it does. But again, what did you do? Did you copy one of the large heads john? Because the heads have a very thermo heavy and complex set of emitting on them >.> Thats probably your problem. oh, and its not done yet, you can't 100% kill it yet XD | 2009-06-01 22:49:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
yeah, i used the head to make swaying neck+heads on the back, and on the sides, and well, its a physcotic disastorous epic creature... | 2009-06-02 00:34:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
just delete the emitter on the copied heads, and it should be fine. | 2009-06-02 03:50:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
sadly, the level was not saved, yet i still have swaying heads & neck saved, and the creature on the copy level, working on the waterfall entrance for the knight area | 2009-06-02 05:26:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
okay whatever lol. Just talked to my dad, apparently i can get on the internet... but not during the day >.> whatever, at least i can republish etc. | 2009-06-02 05:34:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
I've had my PS3 banned for a week. ****. So I may not be able to design for a while. I've got some awesome ideas though. | 2009-06-02 19:52:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
whats with everyone getting in trouble lol... | 2009-06-02 21:35:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
Well...My Dad has been taking away my controller in the night to stop me playing it...During the night. That's after I got caught months ago BUT, I've learnt my lesson, and he still refuses to give it back to me before, say, 5pm. It's annoying, so I started taking my controller back from his room, he found out and had a screw and therefore has banned my PS3 for a week. What a n00b. | 2009-06-02 22:00:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
lol... nice quote btw. anyway, ill get the knight thing underway, its pretty awesome so far, the waterfall is a serious pain... | 2009-06-02 22:36:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
I'd love to offer a hand but i suck at being artistic or mechanical xD However, im always here if you need desperate help. | 2009-06-03 01:17:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
lol... nice quote btw. anyway, ill get the knight thing underway, its pretty awesome so far, the waterfall is a serious pain... Thank you and why is the waterfall being a colossal pain in the ***? | 2009-06-03 21:39:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
because i want you to walk through it | 2009-06-03 21:43:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
Use a hell of a lot of emmiters and emit tiny little blue particles? | 2009-06-03 22:58:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
that takes up the whole level, but no worries i got it working somewhat sofar | 2009-06-04 01:24:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
Ah, i always forget the thermo trouble x.x Well, if theres a problem, theres a solution. | 2009-06-04 17:02:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
I never look at the thermometer until I'm just about to quit create mode, then I realise I have some serious problems. Then I go and experiment with material combinations which will lower my thermo without making the level look...Bad...Yeah. Even so, how can something take up 95% thermometer? Use some different materials or less switches dude... | 2009-06-04 17:33:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |

How? emitters, switches, materials, brains, everything adds up, its annoying as hell, and it tends to happen a lot. i use a lot of stickers on creations so it doesnt usually matter on the materials | 2009-06-04 22:11:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
Hmm... some traps do take quite some termo as well >_> Altho now that i've seen parts of the scenery, some of my traps might not fit at all... | 2009-06-04 22:36:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
dont worry, i could configure them or something, mind showing me them? | 2009-06-04 22:47:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
i think there are a lot of different locales, so my guess is they'll fit most everywhere, SL. | 2009-06-04 23:05:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
Hmm... some traps do take quite some termo as well >_> Altho now that i've seen parts of the scenery, some of my traps might not fit at all... You do know that was only a draft, right? Not the real stuff, I'm sure I will make room for it. If you send me the trap(s), I may be able to have a good idea on how large a room should or should not be. Or you can work around a particular space, I dunno. | 2009-06-05 07:32:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
yeah, the moment is coming, where we get to work! june 26th, tick, tock, tick, tock.... i've been trying not to get bored of lbp by enjoying all those shooter demos! | 2009-06-06 01:02:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
wait... what? whats so special about the 26th? o.o | 2009-06-06 06:27:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
We start on the 26th...Right? I better finish the prologue quick 9_9 | 2009-06-07 13:41:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
well around the 26th, (last day of my school year, AND i think its the site's birthday) PS: and an opening idea is (since its the 2nd last level - area 4) hes in a helicopter on his way back, when he gets hit by something, (hydra tail) falls, crashes, etc, then venture through... btw, everyone knows the bermuda triangle is filled with shipwrecks and crashed planes... so towards the end, a wonderful puzzle would be to build a ship using parts from wrecks, then you could ride it, get attacked, kill the hydra, etc. | 2009-06-07 15:38:00 Author: johnrulz77 Posts: 835 |
that would be pretty cool. I haven't really touched the hyrda in a bit, been working on another project with Theap Pleman. I think i might have a solution for cutting down his thermo weight, but its complicated, and i really don't feel like redoing the emitters again right now >.> | 2009-06-08 00:40:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |

Zwollie's amazing, but he's got so much on his plate I wouldn't make him do yet another project. I think I will be able to do it, I may scrap the Perpetual Distance thing and concentrate on this fully, I'm going to release DMC Mission IV tomorrow so I will have all of my time dedicated to designing some cool **** for this project. | 2009-06-14 20:59:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
