Yet to be named....

Archive: 94 posts

Me and 2 other creators are planning to start a level series near the end of june... and do not ask to join, if i enjoy your wonderful creations, THEN will i ask you for assisstance...

pretty much, made by creators I THOUGHT were the best in their areas, and dont judge a book by its cover, (ex. me, my levels show 0% of my talent...i mostly fool around/learn/build/etc. in create..)

CREATOR/EFFECTS: Johnrulz77 / Twins2004

LIGHTING/DESIGNER/DETAIL: KoRnDawwg / KoRnDawwg

BOSSES/ENEMIES/NPC: Burnvictim42 / Burnvictim42

TRAPS: Silverleon / Yarudark

this thread is for more ideas,

so far the storyline is you venture into different areas of the world and explore them...

IDEAS FOR NOW...

AREA 1 : The Tomb of Anubis

AREA 2 : is yet to be thought up... it will include a forest...

AREA 3 : The Base of the Templars (a group of knights from ancient times, might be called the Temple Knights)

AREA 4 : Bermuda Triangle

pretty much, each section will be based on a REAL location, with REAL facts and such, but.. the bosses will be myth and/or fake to give the levels more effect...

AREA 1 BOSS : a scarab guardian + anubis

AREA 2 BOSS : probably a spider..

AREA 3 BOSS : a giant "possessed" Suit of Armour / a Knight

AREA 4 BOSS : a Hydra

**IDEA**

I DO HAVE an idea for the story..... but only if people like it will I use it...

anyway here goes,
your friend is opening up a museum, but he wants it to be the greatest one of all! Sadly, he has nothing to work with...

so he asks you to venture the world to retrieve an artifact from each area...

and in the last level, you could possibly be at the museum, being congratulated at the grand opening, and then the creatures from the area's that you explored come to attack and retrieve their possesions...

PS: i am sorry for the centered writing, i just enjoy it lol..

Sounds great, I would definitely stick with the idea of retrieving artifacts for a museum. If you were to go for that then the series title could be "Museum of Adventures" or something like that- I'm not that good at naming levels...2009-05-29 21:16:00

Yeah sounds like a cool idea. There's room for a whole lot of ideas in there. Plus the option of sequels. More items for the museum or help the friend in his new business.

How's the character get from the museum to the other areas?

@ sas --- lol ty for the opinion, it might be something like that...

and ty chicago... for posting a second before me...

@ chicago --- uhm its a series of levels...... so you simply start near the area of the world in each level...

and remember,

the artifact/museum thing... is just an IDEA!

and remember,

the artifact/museum thing... is just an IDEA!

It seems like a really good idea for a level series though- you could arrive in a desserty egyptian sort of level in a jeep, enter a large tomb, go on an epic adventure and come back with a jewel in the back of the jeep again and go to the scoreboard. The north-pole idea there sounds good aswell- you could arrive in a ship (breaking through the ice (glass)) go on an epic adventure through a blizzard and find a temple ruins with something that you bring back in the ship. I don't know, there's just so many possibilities for that idea.

I'm not going to suggest any bosses or anythng, that's not my side of things- which reminds me- what were you going to say 2 weeks ago when my internet connection cut off?

Ive always wanted to do something similar to the music idea, but i cant really make them.
You can use my idea if you like- Have a custom music set on some dark matter at the top of the level or underneath, and a automatic vehicle emitted so it goes along playing the song, which is timed to dissapear and re-emit when it reaches the end of the track. Not sure about the thermo space though :/

I've actually used that method before... it doesn't work too well =/ Theres really only a set range for the player to hear the music, and you can only hear parts of the song, and its REALLY thermo heavy. I ended up trashing it because of this (and people thought it was annoying lol)

If thats true then your on to something genious :]
Make sure the music is interesting though-If it gets too repetetive it will bug people and decrease the level's popularity.
Also, if you need a beta tester when the levels are done i'd be more then happy to.

More level ideas- Australia, boss is a bunyip
China, Boss is dragon
Dont know where, but another possible boss is a garuda.

as much as i thank the ideas, dont worry burn your only gonna need to make like 2-3 over a couple months... WITH assisstance too...

(because if its 5lvls lets say, i already got anubis, and soon to be hydra...)

BTW, I ALSO THOUGHT...

maybe in the end, like the very end, at the attack in the museum, you could have a giant boss made from like all the bosses, (like knight's armour, hydra heads, anubis necklace, or w/e)

oh, i was gonna say its fine, i'd get someone else, but as of now, i dont mind starting with a different level,

btw guys, ill make the first level whichever one uses least amount of thermo (for the museum intro)

or i might just make a short 2 minute prologue level...

whichever works best...

ok, thank's to the amazing skill and speed of burnvictim (robot -.-) the hydra boss is just about complete!

PS: im actually trying something new, which i think will work ALOT better, instead of building the level from scratch, or planning it out and getting frustrated at something "not being possible" to do,

im BUILDING and GATHERING important items, BEFORE we start, to lift the load.

(dont think im an idiot, i am going to plan, just alot easier this way)

for ex. bosses, and key items,

like 4 is burmuda triangle so ships, hydra, etc. (i might change that area... cant really think of a story for burmuda, cuz im trying to keep the stories real)

Well for the bermuda level, couldn't you have the sack flies in on a plane, but suddently it is struck down by some strange creature (The hydra) and the sack should have to pass through the island inhabited by strange animals perhaps.2009-05-31 16:19:00

thats good! ill use that one!

but i need a STORY, like why would he go to burmuda triangle (i chose the hydra boss because it says nobody survives going to the burmuda triangle, so a creature adds more drama)

yeah srry silver,

blizzard, its barely started lol, i think lvl1 will be area 3, cuz korndawwg sorta already designed a look, and i showed him how i want the beginning done...

and fish, no i was just thinking, what kind of artifact/reason would the museum guy tell him to go to the burmuda triangle.

recover an artifact in a ship and end up sending him a hydra head?
what could i make it?

All the bosses in one? Epic! Like the boss in Mission 18 of DMC2, Argosax the Chaos:

YouTube - Devil May Cry 2 Dante DMD Mission18 S rank

Btw I hope you like the concept, very thermometer heavy so I may have to change some materials.

It could be one of the last levels- The museum owner tells you about a previous wroker he had who went searching for something in the bermuda triangle, but went missing and never came back. After telling you the story, although not wanting to initially, he asks you if you would go and find his worker for him. You go to the island and crash, go through the level and find the worker, then as you are exiting the island via a makeshift boat, the hydra comes out of the water in a bid to stop you.2009-05-31 20:31:00

I'm still working on materials, I do think stone materials would be perfect. Maybe just fewer materials...

Oh and here are a couple of pictures of the concept theme I designed (with John's guidance, where to place things and whatnot...)

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=363&pictureid=4146

The above is a concept idea of the Victorian-style castle for the Temple Knights. Need a few paintings in there and fewer materials cause this took up 30% of thermometer. The below is just a quick one I took of a pretty-looking hidden entrance to the above room. Very rough and uncoloured so it looks a bit bland...

Whoops, I guess the creepiness is kicking in from my Devil May Cry levels, ****, I prefer a little gloom when it comes to this stuff but I will brighten it up if you like I'm just too used to creating atmospheres like that, it's rather fun. I was aiming for the lighting I used in DMC Mission III, just a bit lighter and easier on the eyes in terms of brightness.

That level was almost too dark, but it was necessary, but I now have a slightly different idea - How about sepia skies, strong bronze/grey and then a sudden blast of colour in the Victorian castle - warm reds, stone-greys, stained glass and shades of Earth-brown? I could try purple but meh, what do ya think. I'll certainly brighten it up a tod.

How? emitters, switches, materials, brains, everything adds up, its annoying as hell, and it tends to happen a lot. i use a lot of stickers on creations so it doesnt usually matter on the materials

You do know that was only a draft, right? Not the real stuff, I'm sure I will make room for it. If you send me the trap(s), I may be able to have a good idea on how large a room should or should not be. Or you can work around a particular space, I dunno.

well around the 26th, (last day of my school year, AND i think its the site's birthday)

PS:

and an opening idea is (since its the 2nd last level - area 4) hes in a helicopter on his way back, when he gets hit by something, (hydra tail) falls, crashes, etc, then venture through...

btw, everyone knows the bermuda triangle is filled with shipwrecks and crashed planes...

so towards the end, a wonderful puzzle would be to build a ship using parts from wrecks, then you could ride it, get attacked, kill the hydra, etc.

that would be pretty cool. I haven't really touched the hyrda in a bit, been working on another project with Theap Pleman. I think i might have a solution for cutting down his thermo weight, but its complicated, and i really don't feel like redoing the emitters again right now >.>2009-06-08 00:40:00

Zwollie's amazing, but he's got so much on his plate I wouldn't make him do yet another project. I think I will be able to do it, I may scrap the Perpetual Distance thing and concentrate on this fully, I'm going to release DMC Mission IV tomorrow so I will have all of my time dedicated to designing some cool **** for this project.2009-06-14 20:59:00
