This is a sequel to hypercube right?

I love the style of it
I was wondering what you'd go for with all the VR colours used up, it's great to see you've gone for a much cleaner Portal style instead!

Yeah, I'm loving the Portal look too. I'm really looking forward to this!

Me and my brother laugh at how quickly you make great levels MrsSB, it's like you make one every week . I always see you on Cool Levels and it makes me glad to see someone that actually deserves to be there, there. Keep up the good work, please!

Not so much running around a sphere! Don't want to give too much away, but you're going to be seeing one or two circular things! lol

Hmm, with regards to the 'Portal' look - My favourite colour is blue. My favourite football team play in darkish blue and white. That's where the inspiration came from!

It's all finished and tested and ready to 'roll'! Hope you'll consider playing it!

Cheers and take care,

I've just played this... This was really, really good. You made an entire platform level with a lot of variety using almost only spheres! I liked the intro, the circle that shoots through the level through a curvy path (how did you make that?), the gallery of your other levels, and the ending. The time limit was nice too. Not too long, not too short.

Care to give me a copy of your level so i may look at how you made things? I promise i won't publish a copy with my name on it.

Also, Since this is a F4F thread.. care to give feedback on my level? Click here to go to the thread in the Level Showcase forum (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=12057)

Hi robinlint.

Thanks very much for your kind comments. Working with circles proved to be a bit of a challenge to say the least, but I'm really pleased you enjoyed it.

I will certainly play through one of your levels as soon as possible and offer feedback.

As for a copy of it - maybe in a few weeks. I appreciate you wanting to look and I've no problem with that, but I'd prefer to wait a while before sending a copyable version. Please don't be offended - I would say the same to everyone

Hi MrsSpookyBuz. I just played Hyper Sphere, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Here is some feedback for you.

Pros:
1. Nice, clean, high-tech feel, which is very appealing to to my Engineering mind.
2. I was immediately immersed in the game play, which is crucial for a race level like this. Well done!
3. The variation of sphere concepts you used in each challenge section was executed very nicely.
4. And the varying levels of difficulty made for a great overall challenge.
5. I stayed engaged throughout the entire level, and kicked myself several times for losing lives (lol).
6. And, with item #5 above in mind, I believe the replay value on this level is very good as well.

Cons:
1. There is really only one thing I would suggest that could easily be implemented--towards the end of the race, where the emitted objects dissolve each outer ring and the sphere falls through each narrowing opening, it took several seconds for each ring to dissolve. It was a little frustrating, as I had no control over the dissolve time, and the race clock was rapidly ticking away at that point. To be honest, I felt just a tad bit slighted, and I only bring this up as it may impact the impression of your level by others who play it.

I had a few nitpicks as well, like variations on the lighting, camera angles and adding sound effects in some areas, to enhance the overall drama of this race, but that's just me, and it's very difficult to describe how one might improve in these areas. But even with nitpicks, I do plan to play this level again to improve my score.

I rated this level a 4+ in my mind (but definitely approaching a 5), gave it 4-Stars, and suspect I will be Hearting it on my next go. Also, I've played some of your other levels, and this one outperforms hands down.

Very Well Done!

I recommend everyone play this level.

And to all the true Creators in LBP, we are "a rare breed indeed".

Looking forward to your insightful comments on my F4F level Takken-The Beginning.

Thank you very much. I have only two levels though. The first one is the one i mostly want feedback for, and the second one (Button Mashing Contest) is a minigame which i made for testing out switches

No problem, i understand. After what happened to AAAlone's Moving Parts level... How do you send levels to one another though, without uploading it to the LBP servers?

Hi Rick

Thanks very much for your kind, thorough and honest comments! I'm really pleased you enjoyed it, and glad you may come back to too!

I appreciate your feedback, and will definately have a look at what I could change. Although, I have to be honest here, the delay you speak about with the exploding circles was timed to try to develop a sense of urgency, and it's fair because it's the same for all players. However, if you found it a tad frustrating, it may consider speeding up the section. I know you'll probably already know this being an LBP'er, but getting the circles into the gaps was a right royal pain in the you-know-what, so I was pleased that bit worked at all! Thanks again!

I will play your level tomorrow

@robinlint

Thanks for your understanding :

Just got done playing this.... very cool! I honestly don't have much in the way of critisism - it was clean, and was clean as a whistle! I played it twice so I could get higher on the board... got into 2nd place between you and Hoss.

5 star and hearted. Fantastic stuff.

Thanks Cub, much appreciated, and really pleased you enjoyed it!

I must admit, when I played your Vertigo! level last week and heard the music you'd used, I thought 'oh God it's the same!'. I honestly chose the music about a month ago! Music is the thing that I like the most, but struggle with the most as there's only a very limited selection.

Thanks again, mate!

Yeah, unfortunately there IS really limited music. The only thing I try to do is use the interactive music and change the instruments all the way through to create variety (so have just drums, then add bass, then only the ambient background, then everything)... but in the end, it's the same music.

I'm not sure whether you've played with this concept, but it's kind of cool.

How would I describe Hyper Sphere??
Here goes--

Heart pounding, hand sweating, fun, fast paced race to the finish. I liked the use of dissolve material for the spheres. Good use of background and decorations as to not distract from the clean Hi-tech feel of the level. Good challenges, use of movement, and a level that would tend to become addictive.

Con: I don't really know if this is considered a con, as I'm uncertain as to whether anything could be done to correct it or if it was a one time thing. In the last large sphere, I released R1 (due to a unrelated distraction) as the sphere was falling onto the next to the last ledge and was put out of the sphere onto said ledge. I had to use try again to get back in the sphere to dissolve it for the final stretch and finish the race.

Overall I enjoyed this level and will be playing it again. 5 Star

Played this earlier today. Just have to say I'm really impressed. You took your hyper cube series, and made it into something fresh. I played through this with my boy, and we had a blast. I don't have any cons or suggestions. I think it's great as is. GREAT WORK!!!!

I wouldn't mind if you checked out my (mountain marathon) thanks.

Thank you Lady Luck for your kind words! You fell out the final circles when releasing R1? Hmm, will have to look into that. The R1 instruction is only to actually release the circles - you shouldn't have to hold it all the time, but that doesn't explain why you were flung out! Will investigate! Thanks again!

@smasher
Great to hear you played with your son. That's what LBP is all about. Thank you for your feedback

I just finished the level and I liked it, just not as much as the Hyper Cube series. As I said before, I love the Portal look that you got going in the level. I liked all the parts with the "circles within circles" especially the part at the end where they were getting shot one by one. Also, I liked the maze where you have to press R1 to get through, it added to the excitement of the race. When I finished the level I was in 6th place on the leaderboard . Rated the level 4 stars and tagged Good. When will we see Hyper Triangle ?2009-06-01 22:00:00

Another fun level! I really had a good time running through this level with a friend of mine. Had a nice pace to it - not too frantic - flowed nicely. I liked the variation in challenge too - not all grab and fling mechanics. I think when I loaded it I was expecting more compartimentlized and puzzle driven mechanics like your cube series but while I can see similarities between the series, this one really is something different.

Interesting choice of colors too. I like it's minimal but high contrast style. One thing I was sort of hoping for but didn't see was a circle in a circle kind of challenge. Sort of like the tire with the "rotating inside" on Facial Reconstruction. Really liked that and thought you might have something like that in there. Even without it I thoroughly loved playing the level.

Gave it 5 stars and hearted it! Thanks for sharing it.

brnxblaze - thanks for playing and for your comments. It was a bit of a push to try to top the Cubes! I'm still staggered at how much people like them! The 'Sphere took over 3 times as long to build, and I while I think it's a bit slicker to look at, it wasn't as easy to balance the puzzles and platforming and race aspects. Still, glad you enjoyed it

morgana - thanks to you, too. Working with circles was a pain! lol! I've got ideas for a possible follow up, including a puzzle which may be similar to the one you mentioned (are you psychic? ). The original idea was that this first level was the entrance to the Sphere and you were skirting round the extremeties. The sequel(s) would have you getting closer to the core, but not sure whether there's any mileage in it. Thanks again for your kind comments.

Well, well - some good feedback on this level and I'm not about to change the tone of this thread either. Simply put this is Hyper Cube, but you've cut the corners! Ok, enough of that now though - onto the important stuff

Pros:
+ Nice choice of music, fits the level well
+ Nice clean visuals
+ The familiarity of Hyper Cube
+ Very good pace
+ Oringal gameplay
+ Replay value for extra points!

Cons:
-Not much....perhaps a bit too lengthy - but it feels really nice to play

5 stars and hearted - good work

It's like Hyper Cube but...w...with Spheres!!
I played this level with a friend yesterday and I enjoyed the heck out of it!!
I didn't expect otherwise from you but still!!

+ Good looking minimalistic visuals, I loved your choice of colours
+ Great original mechanics and contraptions
+ The Bubble Pods
+ The multiple spheres dissapearing one by one

- There might be some but I can't think of any cons at the moment.

Gave it 5 stars, hearted it and tagged it "ingenious"

Nice work yet again, MrsSpookyBuz!!

Coxy, thank you, sir. After your comment on my blog I was a tad scared of you playing it. Glad you had fun

And Zwollie, thank you, too. I'm pleased you like the bubble pods. For what they actually do, they took a ridiculous amount of time to make (or perhaps I'm just slow!), and I tried to place them and the free-standing bubbles quite close for more multiplier opportunities. Thanks again

Sub-conscious message to everyone else: It wasn't me who mentioned triangles, or tetrahedrons, or dodecahedrons! All those suggestions are down to the sharp wit and mirth of certain LBPC'ers. lol. I might just called the next one 'Hyper Sensitive'! Ha, made myself laugh!

Yeah, agree with everyone else here. Really cool, fun, fresh level. Will definitely be playing again. All the good stuff said above is true. Got no cons really, just was reading your in game comments and the guy that said 'need to fix the spiky electric"....I think he meant the electric half circles made of rubber.
It makes those funny ugly spiky edges when you cut it too thin. I noticed it also.

Fantastic work. 5 stars and heart.

I definately had a blast with this level. It's fresh, clean atmosphere was very interesting. I really liked how you made the dissolving circles, and this one is definately a must-play! I enjoyed it from start to end.

Altough I think it's a little simple, it's still fun to play.

^Pretty much my sentiments exactly, aside from me just accepting my initial score lol

Clean to the point of sterile... feels like a jazz blue version of HATE, but round. The whole succession and pacing of the events, and order of platforimg... all done nicely and originally to make the whole race run at a break neck pace. Really nice intro, all the way up to the race flag dropping.

Yep, enjoyed this, the look of it is nice and simple and there's plenty fun to be had! My only thought (and its more an observation, the gameplay was pretty tight) would be to try 'blue wood' as your base material, its got the lovely sheen of rubber but can be cut pretty precisely without glitching, it might make the clean look you've gone for even more striking. 'Course, you'd have to white sticker the whole level. ; )2009-06-04 23:22:00

I just played the level, heres my thoughts as I play.

+ Love the clean look and using only two colours, very nice.
+ Great entrance to the level.
+ Love the prize bubbles stickered with the logo
+ I always like levels with races in, good for replayability and score runs
+ Excellent platforming, really well designed
+ I lol'd at the section where you ride the sphere over the electricity, my sackboys legs were kicking like crazy!!!!
+ That section where the grabble rotating spheres are moving in a seemingly random pattern, very impressive.
+ Awesome wheel in a wheel in wheel etc etc. section, great to watch

- None, no faults I could see

I loved this level, excellent to look at and great to play it was a blast from start to finish, awesome job!!

*****, brilliant, hearted

If you get time, I've published a new level, any feedback is good feedback, the details are in the sig, thanks!

Just finished playing this, what a great level mrsSpookybuzz!

+ I really love the clean look and i'm really glad to see that a level like this gets such great reviews! (mind you, white wood is probably my fav material in lbp )
+ sphere bubbles, sweet!!
+ fun, fun, fun!
+ this level keeps getting better and better, i absolutely love the last part with the wheels in wheels

- was not so fond of the part where you have to use the paintinator, probably because i suck at using that paintinator

5 stars and hearted!

Played this last week. Thought i`d left feedback, but obvioulsy not.

I got exactly what I expected here. A fast paced, tightly designed level with innovative obstacles and a great look.

As always, 5 stars and a heart.

PS. You won`t need to worry about a sequel, as someone`s already made it for you!

Hey.... maybe "Hyper Cubicle".... or "Hyper Activa"....

@Cub - nope, next one is Hyper Ventilate, where cheeky chappies from across the pond get headlocked by a female 'limey'! lol Or Hyper Vertigo, where players enter the---- ooh, wait, now there IS a thought...

Fast paced, intense, great colour scheme, clean and clever.... Now thats a Mrs SB trade mark level!

when I typed hyper sphere into the LBP search I was confronted by your level and by, what I assume is part 2. I think it's someone hoping to get plays from that very situation. it's not exactly of your standard.

I just had to throw in one last comment (since I've picked on you a couple of times!) and say that this level is absolutely fantastic. Your sense of fun and snappy timing is impeccable. You've taken a game (LittleBigPlanet) that is by nature a bit floaty and built a level in a way that feels great. You've done this by creating effects that are quick, and the jumping doesn't require "exact" landings, but instead picked challenges that fit in a non-frustrating way. This level deserves all accolades it receives.

Great job - I'm a huge fan of your levels.

Hi MrsSpookyBuz! I've only recently joined LBPC, so I hope you don't mind if I comment on your level (even though I'm a few weeks behind the times!).

Having played your Hyper Cube levels, I hoped this would be something just as special. It was! Great opening, very stylish visuals, and as others have said, super pacing and design. I loved the sheer 'sleekness' within the level, and the wheel-in-wheel finale was class!

PROS FOR ME
+ The 'Hyper' branding
+ A visual feast
+ Quality design and pacing
+ Replay value
+ Brilliant fun

CONS FOR ME
- Not much I can think of at all.

CONCLUSION
A wonderful level from a great creator. I loved this from start to finish. After three attempts, I managed to knock you off number 1 spot, too! Sorry!

5*, Tagged with 'Brilliant' and Hearted. Virtually flawless.

I already gave you feedback, but i have a question about something in your level, and a request:

Somewhere in your level there is a part where a sphere shoots along a sort of curvy tunnel along a predefined path.. How did you make that?

And, care to play my level 'Grassland Platformer' and give useful tips on how to improve certain obstacles like the moving platform near the beginning or the puzzles near the end?
