I personally can't wait to see the movie! I'm a big fan of Pixar, and I've watched every movie they've made to date. This really looks good, and it has received a lot of good comments/reviews. IGN gave it 5 stars and rottentomato gave it 100%. I feel bad for the people in Europe though, they get it on October :eek: Anyone else a Pixar fan? (C'mon, I know I'm not the only one! )

I was gonna wait until DVD for it, but I'll probably see it in theaters just for the teaser for Toy Story 3. The first one was one of my first movies.

Yeah, I'm really excited for this movie!! But as you said...I have to wait until october.... Sometimes I just don't understand these release dates: some movies come out the same day, some even come out earlier and then there are the few wich come out months later. I'm really interested to see what they do with the 3D aspect though. Off course, they made yet another highly inventive and original movie so I'm really stoked for this!!

I feel bad for the people in Europe though, they get it on October I thought the film and television studios has learned that this just encourages piracy. By the time it comes out in the cinema in the uk, you'll be able to get a full DVD rip via the p2p of your choice. I'm not advocating film piracy, but it does make people feel more justified pirating something if they can't obtain it in your own country. On a more positive note, I haven't heard much about it, what with it being months away, but you know it's going to be good. I think Toy Story is overrated (good, but not THAT good) and Monsters Inc is actually one of my favourite films and Wall-e just blew me away last year. As for the 3D, hopefully it will be for the most part a nice, subtle, perspective-based affair, like much of bolt / monsters vs aliens / coraline was.

I think Pixar is awesome, but i have to admit i wasn't sure about this next movie :/ Some old guy with balloons attached to his house just doesn't strike me as an interesting storyline, but i trust Pixar will have made a brilliant movie out of it

It's kind of a fantasy of mine to get a contract with Pixar some day. Up looks great, but I don't think they will ever top Wall.e

Truth is, a company like Pixar have the magic touch. They don't just rest on their achievements, instead keep trying to push the boundries of animation.... Man Im getting very philosophical for a Friday evening..........

I went with three other friends to see it last night and after it was over, we couldn't stop talking about it. It's an absolutely fantastic film with a lot of emotional depth. The characters, plot, and animation are amazing. I loved it.

I was pretty impressed. Certain parts of Up stuck with me. It's not consistently amazing, but there are a few particular scenes in this film that are incredible. As touching and truthful as anything you're likely to see in the movies. the rest of the movie though... Eeh, I thought it was kind of all over the place. Less than halfway in, I thought to myself "what now... what the hell, what other story is there to tell??" And sure enough, they found some story. And squeezed it right in there. Story that isn't really referenced in the trailers. But there is a plot, a villain, a kind of traditional thrilling-adventure yarn. With talking dogs. Which gets really, really, insanely ridiculous. It kind of just lost me at times and I didn't really care about the core story once the plot picks up. I enjoyed everything up until then immensely. It's a bit like Wall-E that way. The best stuff is at the beginning. Up, like Wall-E, features some virtuosic silent filmmaking early on that, as I mentioned earlier, is as good as anything you're likely to see the entire year at the movies. Without spoiling anything - by the 20-minute mark of the movie, there were people in the theater SOBBING. I'm not kidding. Grown men getting choked up. There's a sequence, silent, without a word of dialogue, which is incredible. And it's done honestly. It doesn't need sweeping strings and over-stylizing to TELL you what to feel (cough-Star Trek intro-cough). in 20 minutes of efficient, honest filmmaking, you care - you REALLY care about the characters and their lives. And you get this compact portrait of a lifetime that feels absolutely genuine. The filmmakers believe in these people, and they trust the audience. It shows. I loved it. Beyond that, there are a few scenes here and there which are just incredible. I just wish the rest of the movie had that. It turns into SUCH a cartoon, that I feel like it takes some huge steps backward from where it previously took the audience. But absolutely worthwhile. the 3D was also great. It was never really distracting - it just added a bit of immersion. When I saw Coraline I found myself so stunned - I wanted to reach out and touch everything, and during quiet dialogue scenes I was too busy staring out of the window in the middle of the wall because of the amazing 3D effects. This doesn't happen in Up, I think the filmmakers have a much more solid hold on the 3D here, and it just adds a bit without being distracting. Assuming you're not sitting in the front row, that is.

Okay, I didn't even watch the whole movie yet, I just watched the first couple minutes...and WHAT THE **** WAS THAT ****?!? Seriously, did the writers just want to get fired? This is supposed to be kid's movie, right?! The parts I saw were just straight-up cruel. Pixar didn't try to be subtle at all with pushing people's buttons, they mashed that ****. Seriously, what the **** is up with that sporadic tone, Pixar? The first 30 minutes contained too many smashed hopes and dreams to me. How did they pitch this story? They begin the ****ing movie with the wife getting all excited for having a child and then she miscarries. They stay all happy and cheery, and they get old and kinda bitter and then dude buys them tickets to Paradise Falls but before they get there she ****ing dies. And then construction workers break the mailbox they made together and he's forced to move out of their house. Someone tell me who wrote this movie so I can kick their ***. And the way he keeps saying that it's "their" house when she's dead...Come on Pixar!

I think if I had seen this when I was 8 I'd have been emotionally scarred, but now I'm sounding like one of those condescending ****s that I hated when I was 8.

I still haven't watched the whole thing, but I felt like I needed to take a break to comprehend what I just saw. Christ, if Pixar continues like this, I don't think I'd be surprised if Toy Story 3 ended with Andy's mom dying in a car crash. Cast into a deep depression, he doesn't leave the house for weeks. Woody and Buzz, his two favorite toys, help him come to terms with his mother's passing. Then his dog gets cancer and dies. The end.

Yeah, that starting montage is really great, in an emotional kind of way. Like Teebonesy, the first half it was my favourite part, just like wall-e. Despite the talking dogs (and flying ones wth ), the last half was very enjoyable as well. I loved the interaction between Carl and Kevin. "I see you back there! *gobble gobble*" And the creature/dog chase scene was really cool. I love when a movie slowly reveals the "mysterious" creature. Pity I knew what it was from the trailers. I got the DVD and watched it about 5 times already. Great movie. Even tops The Incredibles at some parts.

For some stupid reason I always think that pixar movies are too childish and I don't bother to go watch them... then when I watch it I regret not watching it sooner... I can't believe I haven't learned by now, cars, wall-e, ratatouille, all of them were really good and for some reason I thought they wouldn't be any good... Now I just have to see this, based on these comments it's really good (well duh, it's pixar)

Pixar certainly took all their mastery of the art from their previous works and smashed it into this movie. I, a 14 year-old kid who can't stand watching Snow White or Pinocchio, loved this movie. It manages to not only be deep and funny at the same time, but also be extremely mature while also being great for the little kids. Pixar's greatest work, and possibly the greatest movie ever.

I was a little worried when Pixar partnered up with Disney, and then I didn't totally geek out over "Cars". Then came "WallE" and "UP". Disney, I'm guessing, was in charge of the crappy video-game spin-offs "UP" is a big bowl of wonderful served with a rich warm mug of heart! Such a good movie! Take a Bath, hippie!

Well I thought the initial previews that featured the house taking off with the balloons and the kid on the porch were gimmicky and not at all my thing, despite being a fan of animated films generally. However, the deep humanity of the story is the real attraction and those first round of previews totally, TOTALLY missed the point, imho. They were aiming it at the kids, but really, it's not a 'kids' movie. I doubt that most little kids would even get the subtleties of it. But it's pretty to look at as well, so yeah.. something for everyone I guess. It's amazing in Blu-Ray. Flawless animation.
