Archive: 20 posts
Whats you favorite kind of level in LBP? Is it a survival challenge? As in Is it a level w/ a good story? As in Is it a level w/ only the BEST gameplay? As in Is it a extremely artistic or good looking level? As in Johnee's Warzone Trailer Is it a Puzzling Level or a Creative one? As in Teleport to ????? or what? And for all You Creators, if a lot of People Post on this and Vote You May want to Pay attention to what most of the Community Wants..... If you want your level to be an example PM or post here... | 2009-05-28 01:00:00 Author: RipTlde Posts: 151 |
The kind that doesn't break leaving you stranded. Jk. Really I like a level that has a good mix of visuals, gameplay, and challenge. As far as genre goes I'm not too picky. | 2009-05-28 01:18:00 Author: smasher Posts: 641 |
Personally, gameplay is the most important thing to me. Not sure why, but I love platforming. | 2009-05-28 01:21:00 Author: Sackdragon Posts: 427 |
I would say a combination of gameplay and aesthetics but if I have to pick one, the look of the level to me is most important because if I go in a level with good gameplay but it looks like crap, I usually leave before I finish it. However, if I go into a level with little to no gameplay but it looks great, I usually stay in it just to look around. I don't think one could go without the other though, if a level is missing one I probably wouldn't heart it. | 2009-05-28 01:46:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |
I agree with brnxblze, its a combination of looks and gameplay, but if you pick between one or the other, its looks. An example is Johnees trailer level, it has no gameplay but is mindblowing and clever. But if you have good gameplay but you use wood and dark matter it just doesnt stand out i guess. | 2009-05-28 02:00:00 Author: Jrange378 Posts: 573 |

Best looking, If a game looks amazing but only has simple gameplay then I don't mind because I will know if that's what the creator was aiming for. I'm not saying gameplay is bad but if the creator is aiming for gameplay then they must include some form of interesting visuals. There is only one good exception I can think of on that really and that is the hardest level or whatever it was called; it was made mostly of cardboard but it worked as it was all about gameplay really. | 2009-05-28 02:18:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R Posts: 1606 |
Perfect example, Jrange378, that was one of my favorite levels yet it had no gameplay at all, it was one of my favorites because of how great it looked (and because I think a movie in LBP is an awesome idea but that's a different topic .) | 2009-05-28 02:32:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |

You can't judge a book by it's cover, BUT sometimes you CAN judge a level by it's cover (so to speak). | 2009-05-28 03:44:00 Author: mindphaser74 Posts: 349 |
On top of what mindphaser74 and brnxblze said, regarding a mix of visuals and play, I like the addition of a mental challenge somewhere in that mix. If there's nothing to stimulate my mind, like a complex puzzle, or a complex series of tasks that must be completed in a critical fashion, then I often find myself bored. I'll still finish the Level, but my "Heart" is not in it (sorry for the play on words there--it's in my nature). But of the 3 categories in the mix I describe above, great visuals will definitely keep me lingering longer in a level (I like the way that rolls off the tongue). Personally, the biggest thing to me is uniqueness. If someone is able to throw out any type of level, and its unique and entertaining, they've struck gold if you ask me. I play a LOT of levels doing reviews, working on projects, playing with friends, etc. and it always strikes a good note with me when i see something genuinely new. Agreed that visuals, and story, and gameplay are important... but if theres nothing to hook me in with their creativity, i'm probably not going to like it very much =/ | 2009-05-28 04:31:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |

I love me some puzzle levels . | 2009-05-28 04:36:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |
should i add a creative and a puzzle option on the poll? edit: nvmd i guess i cant edit the poll -_- and also i will add Johnees trailer level to visuals after i play it... or should i just put it up there right now? | 2009-05-28 04:59:00 Author: RipTlde Posts: 151 |
Whats Your Favorite Kind of Level? Good ones. | 2009-05-28 09:44:00 Author: Fjonan Posts: 359 |
I'd have to say an artistic level, I really can't put my finger on why. It just kinda gives the level a warm feeling. Also I guess it reminds me of playing through the polished story missions when I first got the game. Plus, I recokon I'm more of an artistic person. | 2009-05-28 09:54:00 Author: olit123 Posts: 1341 |
Wow. I wouldn't have thought it'd be that hard to pick. I think the best levels definitely have to have a mix. When someone makes a level that not only looks good but plays well and makes ya think, maybe tells a good story on the way, you're onto a winner. | 2009-05-28 21:53:00 Author: Chicago51 Posts: 258 |
I'm actually quite surprised people are choosing aesthetics over gameplay. The best levels usually have both, but I'd rather have a good bounce around than some nice scenery anyday. | 2009-05-29 01:07:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
It has to flow, it has to look good, please no straight lines, it has to keep you busy at all times, it doesn't have to be long. But in the end its to hard to call because we are all different so everthing I said doesn't really matter.......o_O | 2009-05-29 08:05:00 Author: clarkdef Posts: 138 |
I am now officially the only one who has voted for storyline. Looks are also important, but some of the best looking levels I've seen don't have much in terms of a good and strong story to hold it up. | 2009-05-29 15:26:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
It's visuals for me. I find visuals to be the most important part of a level. I also find gameplay very important too, but if it just has gameplay but has bad visuals I won't like it that much. I will like the visuals of a level even more if they're unique. | 2009-05-30 22:50:00 Author: lk9988 Posts: 1077 |
