Froze When Quitting Game

Archive: 10 posts

something strange just happened, i select quit game and the ps3 reset, so i started up LBP again and when i got to my pod it was changed back to how it was this morning, my sackboys outfit changed back to what i was wearing this morning, stuff i had done to my level had gone and all the pictures i had taken had gone too.

So i deleted a few pictures and community pictures along with a few outfits i had saved and i have quit the game 3 times now with no problem

did i just have too much stuff?

Yeah. Usually it'll give you a warning, but it's still not 100%.2009-05-27 23:29:00

I'd agree - sure looks like the profile issue rearing it's ugly head again.2009-05-27 23:55:00

I had this happen once as well when my PS3 froze.

I had worked on my level for 2 hours and saved it every 10 minutes or so.
Apparently, it only saves it in some temp memory until you actually quit the game!!

I lost my 2 hours of work and some pics I took.

I once had this too. My PS3 reset when I quit the game, but I didn't lose any stuff as far as I could tell. It looks like the profile full glitch/thing is on the rise again.2009-05-28 10:55:00

The game doesn't seem to really save until you choose 'return to pod' from somewhere.

It's weird.

Yes, this is a major failing in the game interface design. "Save level" apparently sames to RAM. Which is just wrong. It breaks the common mental model of what "save" means and misleads the user. It's a really big mistake. I've also found it not always save properly when doing return to pod, although it does do harddisk access at this point...

I've been doing periodic cycles of:

return to pod
wait for the orange light to finish flashing,
exit game,
back up data,
reboot PS3 and go back into game

becuase I don't trust it. This is slightly OTT but hell, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks for the information everyone!

I think for a while i will keep my pictures and community objects down to a minimum, thankfully we have that new profile options to turn off collecting community objects
