*Sigh* It's true. And a very long story. You see I have an aspiration to be a film maker and am taking a summer course in film making, to learn a few things before the rest of my film classes in high school start, so, using EyeCreate on my PSEye, I have started making stop-motion videos on weekends. Getting a positive reaction from my friends, I tried to put one of the videos on Youtube, SO, I exported one of the videos to my PS3 and went to youtube, but when I went to browse on the upload video page, all there was was a picture from littlebigplanet, therefore I thought all you could upload were things from discs, so I got a storage discs and (after much searching in settings) went to format utilities (thinking it would format the disc and make it usable for the PS3 to write things to. WELL... I chose format hard disk and after finding a squeaky clean PS3 today learned that the "hard disk" was not the storage disk, but the internal memory. I have no data for any of my games. I still have all of my precious DLC, though. That's something. I had already put this on my blog, but I've decided to put this in general chat to search for some advice, if there is anything I can do.2009-05-27 06:28:00

Aw man, I'm sorry . I formatted my PS3 once by mistake when I tried to put a different OS but I forgot to back up my data so when I couldn't do it I was left with a blank PS3. I'm not sure you can get the memory back...2009-05-27 06:34:00

If you did a quick format, you should be able to retrieve the data if you bring the HDD to a specialist. However, it's not cheap and there's no guarantee that all of your data remained untouched or uncorrupted, so it's your call.2009-05-27 06:40:00

Nope, it was a full format. 2009-05-28 03:06:00

Ouchies... Well... lesson learned, I guess. From now on, you'll be extremely wary, even frightened, of any option anywhere that contains the word "format". At least it was just your PS3 and not something more substantial.

Good luck though in your filmmaking endeavors. I'm a filmmaker myself based in Vancouver.
