You have to see these!!!!!!

Archive: 8 posts

Let me start of by saying my PSN name is mytek now that we got that blatantly obvious self promotion out of way. I would just like to say I have five levels up, two are mini games and the other three are full levels with at least 8-10 minutes of game play in each. I have spent hours tweaking, adding sound, light, and detail to each and it saddens me that I'm not getting plays. So this is it me begging you guys to try them out! I take pride in all I build and would love some feedback. If anyone else feels like there gems are being overlooked use this thread to let the LBP community know!

mytek's levels:

Panic Attack! (mini game)

Winner,Winner,Chicken Dinner! ( the most realistic slot machine on Lbp!)

The little big Adventure! (a colorful adventure)

Sack boy Jones and the Lost Temple of the Ruby (part one of my beautiful adventure series)

Sack Boy jones and the Emerald Waterfalls (part two of my beautiful adventure series)

Cool I'll check these out!

BTW it would seem there is only a select few out there who know how to successfully get 1000's of plays on their levels. I am NOT one of them sadly

My BELOW THE ROOT (series) was spotlighted here at LBPC and steadily got 5 stars and hearts from 30% of the people who played. Here's the thing though... after about 100 plays, no one sees them again. These are fantastic levels and capter 3 is almost done and will probably blow the other chapters out of the water. But it will never see much more than 100 plays.

MM needs a better system and SOON. Myself and others will say goodbye to LBP forever if it keeps being this depressing.

Hi mytek and welcome. I'll try to take a look at your levels asap. UPDATE Just had a look for your levels and realised i already played most of them. When I looked through the comments I had left some around 4 months ago and really enjoyed them especially as my surname is Jones LOL. I don't think I've played the Emerald one though as that looks new so I will play that when I go back on later.

Yours too Aurongel.

I have to agree the system needs a complete overhaul. I may not be the greatest creator but I'm far from the worst aswell.
I've had some pretty decent levels out there for 5-6 months and they still only have 30 or 40 plays yet I've seen some levels that are quite frankly awful and they have 10000+ plays and good tags.

I've even played some 'levels' if you can call them that where all you do is enter , walk over a couple of obstacles and there is the scoreboard and they have thousands of plays also and tags like 'awesome' and 'brilliant'.

Is it just me or is this just totally ridiculous and a slap in the face for people who actually make an effort to create a good level ?

Hi mytek!

I played your level tonight, and I have some feedback for you.

I thoroughly enjoyed this Level, even the frustrating moving platforms (how I do like a challenge). I also appreciated you challenging my mind (nicely done). Your level design (the stage) was well crafted with continuity throughout. And the game play, though frustrating at times, was in fact very well done--I never lost interest.

I rated this Level 4-Stars and hearted you as a Creator. I will definitely enjoy trying your other levels in the future.

Even though this Level has limited market appeal, that's not neccessarily a bad thing. Most kids would give up very early, but I don't think you had kids in mind when you created this, did you? It's definitely for a more experienced gamer with a good head on their shoulders.

The only area of improvement that I could see was speech popups appearing at some inappropriate moments--i.e. when hitting the first row of several rows of prize bubbles, my Sacky was stopped dead in it's tracks, and I was unable to max my score multiplier. But that point is kinda moot anyway, since my score was only 15K+.

Still a great level, and I recommend everyone play it.

Looking forward to your feedback on Takken (Showcase thread is below in my Signature).

And to all the LBP Creators, we are a rare breed indeed!

I played the Emerald one last night and was not disappointed. The design once again was brilliant with lots of nice little details too.

I just had a couple of small problems with it.

I can't remember reading anything in the description about the number of players recommended but it doesn't work with more than one as I found out when my wife and I played it together

1) When we got to the collapsing bridge ( very nicely done BTW ) it dropped twice and got stuck, although we didn't realise it was stuck right away because there was nothing to indicate whether we were in the right place or not. This meant we had to restart and it worked ok the second time. Just a relief it wasn't too far into the level.

2) Various places through the level where something was activated by the leading player that trapped the other player meaning they had to use 'try again' lots of times. Particularly notable in that big wheel. When I jumped out of it to the ledge a door shut behind me so my wife was stuck in the wheel with no way out. Perhaps you should alter those sorts of things to 'require all'.

3) It wasn't clear where to go near the finish. We went up the steps and activated the thing up there ( can't remember what it was now sorry ) and then didn't know where to go so we went back down the steps and fell through a hole somewhere.
We thought the level had fallen apart there because it looked very bare and out of place with the rest of the level but we ended up falling down a slope and reaching the scoreboard which was just sitting on the bare level floor.

If that was intentional it looked very strange. If not I'm not sure what went wrong.

It would be better in some places to use task complete sounds and/or magic mouth cameras to show what has been done and where to go next.

Overall though it was an excellent fun level up to your usual high standards and we enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward to your next project.

I played the two sackboy jones levels. I really enjoyed them. I thought your visuals were excellent, and your level design is very good also. There is a lot going on in these levels. I liked the second one better than the first. I just think you did a better job all around on it. I love how your palm tree uses the doll leg, golf balls, and feathers. They look great. The only suggestion I have, is to put some of your sound effects on a one time switch. Because some kept going off when I was running by even though the rocks had already fallen. This is just a minor annoyance though really it's probably thermo permitting. Anyways hearted both. GREAT WORK!!!

F4F: (mountain marathon) thanks.
