NO way, they really arnt showing up because of swine flu? | 2009-05-26 17:01:00 Author: Hamsalad Posts: 2551 |
Cool, I doubt they had anything interesting to show anyway... FFXIII is just going to get delayed again into 2010/11 T_T As long as Konami, Kojima, Team ICO, and Epic Games are attending, then I'm fine I need some moar Zone of The Enders, Trico, and Geasr of War | 2009-05-26 18:22:00 Author: Aurongel Posts: 221 |
lol - Swine Flu is just their excuse. They just had nothing to show (despite being able to make an RPG faster than Gruntos can make a level..........) | 2009-05-26 18:44:00 Author: Coxy224 Posts: 2645 |

I agree I think a lot of companies are just using the swine flu as an excuse so that they don't have to spend the money on travel. | 2009-05-26 20:01:00 Author: OverWork Posts: 873 |
I agree I think a lot of companies are just using the swine flu as an excuse so that they don't have to spend the money on travel. that's what I thought too. That's just a pretty ridiculous excuse they can use to not attend. | 2009-05-26 20:44:00 Author: Hamsalad Posts: 2551 |
Ha! Are they really that scared of Swine Flu in the east? Really, like three people in America have died of it. Way more people die of the normal flu every DAY. | 2009-05-26 20:48:00 Author: qrtda235566 Posts: 3664 |

Here's how the decision was made to not show up. SE Executive #1: "**** we don't have anything worth a **** to show off at E3....What do we do!?!?" SE Executive #2: "****, we better think of something fast; becasue we sure as hell didn't think of any games." SE Executive #3:"The media already though of it for us! *Executive's 1 and 2 turn toward #3 quizically.* SE Executive #3:"Don't you see, it's simple! Somehow half those idiots out there still think the swine flu is going to kill them so we just have to pretend we're brain washed too!" *All three simultaniously laugh in an evil tone* P.S. you guys can act this out together if you want | 2009-05-26 21:23:00 Author: Hamsalad Posts: 2551 |
Swine flu!? They're probably just using it as an excuse as others have said. Oh well, there's probably much more other things we can look forward to at E3. | 2009-05-27 13:50:00 Author: lk9988 Posts: 1077 |
http://graphjam.wordpress.com/files/2009/04/song-chart-memes-people-killed.jpg ....seriously. Ah well, since they're not presenting, they'll be working harder, right? ;p | 2009-05-27 22:34:00 Author: Burnvictim42 Posts: 3322 |
(omitted for space) ....seriously. Ah well, since they're not presenting, they'll be working harder, right? ;p Aint that the truth though? All this hub-ub for something so... Insignificant Sure I say that now, but knowing my luck I'll go to bed tonight and wake up in the movie "28 Days Later" :O That'd SUCK | 2009-05-27 22:40:00 Author: Aurongel Posts: 221 |

Ha! Are they really that scared of Swine Flu in the east? Really, like three people in America have died of it. Way more people die of the normal flu every DAY. Actually 14 people have died from it. But this is still a sad excuse. | 2009-05-28 00:50:00 Author: Arkei Posts: 1432 |
From what I understand Swine Flu is more leathal than normal flu, there is a slight statistical rise in the number of people it kills off in comparison to the normal rate from influenza. That being said, it's mainly the elderly, sick and very young (toddlers) that die from influenza. It's just Swine Flu is killing slightly more. Still though, the chance people are resistant to it in general is lower, and so that makes the transition, severity and lethalness of this flu is of some concern. It also leaves the possibility that if it were to mutate into something more lethal then we would have a very serious problem. Anyway, it makes sense to stay away from a ridiculously crowded, poorly ventilated and slow moving area. That's just asking for air born viruses to hop onto everyone. | 2009-05-30 11:16:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
I've heard that Swine Flu is less lethal than normal flu - it's just apparently a lot more contagious The only people that die from it are toddlers with very weak immune systems and people with poor medical support which is the case in Mexico. Even toddlers can cope with it though with the right treatment. And i've heard elderly people are meant to be extremely resistant to any type of Flu virus so the chances of them getting affected at all is very low. Considering the amount of people who have been infected, i think it's ridiculous that Square Enix have used this as an excuse :/ | 2009-05-30 12:55:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |

I spent alot of time researching the subject when everyone was getting all freaky about it, cause I was getting a bit sick of hearing about it every 5 minutes, from all sorts of conflicting sources that knew nothing. It isnt as bad, really. It's best equated to a mild version of the normal flu. There was alot of misinformation thrown around about the subject, by all sorts of sources. But the basic thing is, it's not worth worrying about. This whole thing bugs me, though. SE is one of those developers I actually care about, as far as E3 goes and their presentation there. .....Koei too, for that matter. And for such a reason as that..... it just.....aaaaaaaaaaaaagh. That's all I can even say here. | 2009-05-31 09:45:00 Author: Bridget Posts: 334 |
Well, from what I understand, to keep things simple, there are two kinds of flu. One just gives people the sniffles and makes them unwell, and the current Swine flu major strain though that is going around would fit into this category. People do die from this kind of influenza, but they tend to be ones with a poor immunisation system, that being the very young, very old or very sick. There are however far more deadly versions of influenza that exist, which kill large percentages of the population. They tend to be very rare, but the influenza that swept through Europe during WWI is an example of this. Most influenzas are constrained to the species that gets sick from them. If my cat gets influenza (and it's pretty deadly for cats) then it won't effect me at all, though I can transmit the disease with contact from one cat to another. The Avian Bird Flu that struck Asia several years ago was an example of a species specific influenza that was mainly leathal. If that virus mutated to the point where it could effect humans, we would have had a major and very serious world wide pandemic on our hands that would have likely have wiped off a few percentage points of the human population. The "Swine Flu" is the first major example of cross species flu infection. It can affect both humans and pigs, and is actually made up of strains from human, swine and bird influenza. Another major problem with Swine Flu is that's it's been a long time since humans have come into contact with this sort of strain of influenza, and so our resistance to it is low. If this influenza was to mutate into a deadly strain, then not only would we have a deadly strain of influenza, we would also have one that can cross the species barrier and be one that the general population does not have a good natural resistance to. Certainly, it has not happened yet. But influenza mutates all the time, that's why it's so difficult to treat or immunise against. If it was to turn into a lethal strain, we would have a very, very serious problem indeed. So yes, it's kind of mild at the moment, but the experts are reacting to the potential this new influenza brings rather than the current present it is showing. People being responsible in crowd situations like big public events or public transport, and doing things like washing their hands before eating, covering their nose and mouth while sneezing and coughing, and disposing of used tissues responsibly, does a lot to halt the spread of influenza. Unfortunately, most people don't do that. I'd personally suggest a public awareness campaign to try and get people to wash their hands and cover their mouths would probably be the greatest thing we can do to combat this problem, but that is just me. | 2009-06-01 12:14:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
