Some questions concerning the Online Create Beta, answered.
Archive: 22 posts
I'm posting this here instead of in the Beta forum because mostly all of the questions that were answered were for people that didn't make it into the Beta. This was posted a little while ago by Sony rep Sam_Protagonist on LittleBigWorkshop.com. Why is there no official beta signup? This initial test of new features for LittleBigPlanet is being kept very small and needs a good spread of participants from around the world, and will be reliant on in sizable amounts of comment and feedback. Receiving thousands of applications to join the beta, potentially motivated by*factors other than the opportunity to test a new game feature, would not have been helpful in this case. What if I don't get invited, can I join in later? Not for this test, however this is unlikely to be the the only test we run, and we are conscious that with such a small number of testers some of LBP's biggest fans might miss out this time around, and we'll look to ensure fairness down the line. I heard a rumour about exclusive DLC... Members of the test who actively contribute either bug reports or other feedback will be given access to some additional reward DLC. Will this content be available seperately? No, however as stated above, this is not the only time we will be running a beta test, so if you missed out this time it does not mean you won't ever be able to get access to this content. When does the beta start? We'll post an announcement after the beta has started so everyone will know whether they've been invited or not by a single date. If I join somebody else's pod who is in the beta can I create with them? The beta version of Create Online works using a seperate game client, so you will be unable to interract with regular LBPers while using the beta version of the game. You'll effectively have two seperate installations of the game on your PS3 - one for the beta and one that is your main game. The two don't share any data, so your save game is completely independent between the two versions. So while you're playing the beta version of the game you'll only be able to interact with other beta players. Can I use everything I've collected or downloaded in my beta creations? Yes. You'll be given instructions on how to copy your save so it can be used in the beta test. Will I be able to keep levels that I've built in beta? No. Is it going to lag like crazy and crash all over the place? I really hope not - part of this test is to try out a new improved version of the online game which should be faster and more reliable. I've not been especially active on this forum, however I am very active in the game, will I get an invitation? It's possible, however it won't come as part of the alotment from this forum. I selected the users from here based on the quality of their feedback and their involvement in the community here - there are other places on the test being distributed through other parts of the community, but my criteria here was to find users I believed would most actively contribute, not only to the test of the beta but also in terms of feedback. --------------------------------------------------- Also, if you have any question about the Beta, go over to LBW and Sam will try to answer them . Nice find. I heard a rumour about exclusive DLC... Members of the test who actively contribute either bug reports or other feedback will be given access to some additional reward DLC. Does this mean, testers will get exclusive DLC? Like objects, materials whatever that they have but never made it into the final game/packs? | 2009-05-26 15:27:00 Author: wexfordian Posts: 1904 |
I don't think we've been told exactly what we're getting, just that we'll get something exclusive that only testers get (if we participate that is.) Hopefully it's a lot of create tools since we are testing something that has to do with the create aspect of the game. I wouldn't mind a 'Online Create Beta Tester' T-Shirt for my Sackboy though . | 2009-05-26 15:41:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |
Yeah I hope the DLC isn't something detrimental like a tool, materials or song, etc. Better be costumes and stickers... . | 2009-05-26 15:56:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
Yeah, I can't see Mm giving out materials and tool - that would be a bit unfair But yeah, I wouldn't mind a limited edition T-shirt | 2009-05-26 16:09:00 Author: Coxy224 Posts: 2645 |

Just for a while at least I will saylater tho. | 2009-05-26 20:03:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |

There goes using my signature sticker D: Or maybe I can send it to myself? | 2009-05-26 22:22:00 Author: Sackdragon Posts: 427 |
Can you send things to yourself? I'm not sure if you can, maybe if you send it to another account and then send it to yours? | 2009-05-26 22:32:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |

so does this meen that regular users wont be able to play the levels. Nope. Though I'm sure if there's a method of transferring data into the beta version, then there's a way of getting it out. | 2009-05-27 12:47:00 Author: Killian Posts: 2575 |
