HarderLands

Hello I am promoting my old level Harderlands, its all about challenge, simple platforms and simple ideas, yet its a hard piece of work, it must be because 500 odd plays and less than 10 single players have passed.

Hopefully after posting this I will see some more people going for that high score.

The level is a no frills event unlike some of my other levels which are high gloss and detail, I hide nothing and know that while playing this level you wont care. I believe this is one of the hardest levels out there, and if its not please tell me and I will make it HARDER!

You really like your canyon style levels lol! I loved your other level, Western Sack and was looking forward to this.

+ Nice visuals as always
+ Wow, its hard
+ Liked the way you used checkpoints (although infinite would be easier)
+ Liked the dont' cheat part

- Switches, mouths and sound emitters visable all over the place
- Could you rig up someway of rewarding the player if they dont't use as many checkpoint restarts?

Lol, it was way way to hard for me, I couldnt get passed the second spinning wheels with no sponge after about 20 trys. Hard level lovers will no doubt lap this up though.

I rated at 3 stars because it was well put together, but left no tag because I thought it unfair if I was nowhere near finishing the level

Allright allright... OMFG so cruely hard ^^ That was the first thing I thought, but okay, it IS possible (didnt make it to the end). I stucked at that part, wherer you have to climb from the left to the right and then drop yourself down to get to the next part and so on. Problem was that I couldn't concentrate enough (**** dog xD). But well, its hard, so its worth it to be called a "challange".
Rated with 4 stars, because I like hard challange maps ;D

PS: Had about 510xxx points when I left, "just" 800 000 behind yours. How many challanges are there oO?

This is a old level, and I was thinking of updating it with infinate checks, but I like the chrusher lol, I cannot change the rewards sustem, because one guy worked hard to get the score he got ROMM27 he must of died about 10 times through the whole level.
There are 10 different platform areas, and I meant them to frustrate and anger you, however there is a true method to everyplatform.

I played through this last week after discovering your Gaping Canyon level... it was brutally fun. I restarted a few times at the hanging section just to try and re-up my score thinking I would do better... man, this is one long monsterous level and I loved every minute of it no matter how bad I was doing. I think the score deficit system is genius, even though I ended up with an atrocious 6000 points because of the Metroid section (that was awesome btw)... and the pre-Infinite Checkpoint crushing system was awesome although I think you could go back and use the new ones, free up some space and invest that into some better looks for the latter half of the level. Everytime I thought I was getting to the end of the level, it would just go on and on... I literally felt worn out and beat down by the end of it lol

...anyway, the first half of the level looks phenomenal with your ace canyon look, but by the time I got to the maze I think it started looking less cohesive and a little lack luster. The dark matter climb, especially seemed really dull, even though I get how it's a spin on the tricky dark matter platforms you always see in the levels... I really enjoyed this level, hearted it, and have tried it again a few times... I do think though, like I said, just free up some space with the checkpoint machines gone, and invest some of that free therm into sprucing up the second half... go with the same wood, iron and sponge look - I think that's nice. The Metroid section though, obviously has to look a little more technical...

It's all up to you though.

I cant believe you made it that far Ninja lol, I understand the look thing, it does look weird at the end, however the dark matter platforms look dead on the Metroid ones they aint there because I was lazy they are there because they suit the metroid look. I think I will change the other parts you suggested though, and if enough people think it needs infinate checks, then I will put them in.
The thermo is only halfway so heaps of room for improvment, thanks heaps for your comments
