Aaaargh! Music not working in my level. Can anyone help?

Archive: 9 posts

Need some help guys.

My level has been published for just over a month with no probs at all.
I'm on my third edit and all of the music objects have stopped working. All the little radios are still there and it all sounds fine in edit mode. As soon as you play the level, none of the music plays at all!
I've deleted them and re placed them all. I've fiddled with proximity and even tried to set them off with switches, but to no avail.
Anyone else experienced this or got any suggestions as to how to work around this. The level plays well but the music adds that certain little "je ne sai quio" and I'd love to get it working again.

Help me purlease!!

Double check that you haven't turned off the music on levels in your Audio settings. I noticed that if you turn them off the music will still play in edit mode but not play mode. Just press start and go to audio options then make sure the first option is turned on. Hope that helps.2009-05-24 06:02:00

That, or perhaps the Volume of the song is just really low or completly off, check the "Volume" area while editing it, it might be all they way to the left which means no sund will come from it.2009-05-24 08:46:00

I think this might be it, a lot of people I helped with this problem had the same "symptoms" (music playing in edit mode and not play mode.)

sam2hip: Just want to be sure I understand - when in play mode it isn't working right?

If it isn't working in edit mode it won't work while you hover. You need to trigger it on the ground to hear it in edit mode.

Double check that you have the volume of the music boxes large enough that they can be triggered.

If it's an interactive music choice make sure at least one of the sliders is not far to the left. If they are all on the left you won't hear anything as all the sections are turned off.

If none of those is the problem. Try replacing the music box and adjusting the settings then go into play mode to see if it works then. It may be that the level has a glitch keeping the music from working. It's unlikely but It wouldn't hurt to check.

If none of these suggestions works, post again with some more specific details about where the boxes are and what the settings are and what you're doing when you're trying to set them off, and I'll try to help.
