I'd rather Mm "surprise" me with their awesome new inventions to tell you the thruth, usually way better than user-suggested stuff in my opinion. | 2009-05-23 21:54:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
I have faith in Mm that they will do awesome stuff, but I know (from interviews) that they get a lot of inspiration from user suggested content. That does absolutely NOT mean that they literally use the suggestions as they were suggested, but that does mean they are inspired by them, which means that they will get something similar. Anyways, Mm will pick what they think is the best addition to LBP, and so far they have been very useful additions! | 2009-05-23 22:01:00 Author: Eldrazor Posts: 78 |
Layer Switching Keys: Like the magnetic key switch and magnetic key. But when the layer switch gets in range with the layer key the item switches to whatever the key is set to. Improved Piston: For some reason, sometimes the piston isn't strong enough to hold something and it isn't completely stable. So maybe they could fix that little error. Sharp Tool: Makes an edge lethal. When you touch the edge you die like from a spike, shuriken, or rotary saw. Nonlethal Gas: Simply gas that you can walk through and not die. Sound Capture: You can record 15 seconds of sound. And those of you saying it would give people a chance to be bad, that's what good grief is for. Double Jump Power Up: Kind of self explanatory, but I will explain anyways. This would be able to work with the paintinator other than canceling out the shoes, but you could press x twice and jump twice as high. They're the ones I don't agree with, I'll say my opinions in order Layer switching just isn't LBP... enabling it would feel like destroy a part of LBP somehow.. Just use emitters. I'm pretty sure they're meant to do that, part of the physics engine maybe? Just have to settle for a few pistons. Sharp tool - how can you tell if something is "sharpened"? Non-lethal gas... what's the point? xD Not worth it just for a few bits of decoration imo, people see gas and purposely try to avoid it, messing around with it would make it seem less threatening Sound capture - No. Just no. Completely impractical in the moderation front. But the rest of your ideas are pretty good | 2009-05-23 23:39:00 Author: Pinchanzee Posts: 805 |
Okay. I am making this to give some reasonable ideas for Creator Pack 2. Require All option for the grab switch. Layer Switching Keys: Like the magnetic key switch and magnetic key. But when the layer switch gets in range with the layer key the item switches to whatever the key is set to. Ability to connect a switch to a checkpoint: You would connect a switch to a checkpoint and when the switch is activated you would appear at that checkpoint. You would not lose any lives. This would make some fun puzzles and not take up half of the thermometer. Gravitational Control Switch: When you go past this the gravity would increase, decrease, and or change direction according to the switches settings. This would also make some fun puzzles. Improved Piston: For some reason, sometimes the piston isn't strong enough to hold something and it isn't completely stable. So maybe they could fix that little error. Sharp Tool: Makes an edge lethal. When you touch the edge you die like from a spike, shuriken, or rotary saw. Freeze Tool: Makes an object frozen, when you have contact with it you die with a freezing animation. Rope: Like the string but it's stronger and doesn't go through materials. If you make a strip of it, it will fall and land on the material. Decoration/ Sticker Saver: Let's say you find a hidden sticker or decoration in the story mode levels, you can save it and use it later. Does not work with decorations in which you have to purchase the pack to use. Sticker Editor: You can cut around the part of the sticker you want other than having to keep it that rectangular shape. This way you would have more detailed costumes and levels. I agree with EVERYTHING here. As for the pistons, yes you can use 2 pistons to fix the problem, but you shouldn't have to. You can use more than 1 for asthetics, but you shouldn't be required to use more than 1. A little silly, real physics or no, every moving part you have to use hurts the therm a little more. A realistic rope would be cool along with the gravity or even wind option. Although Double-Jump would be cool, it would also be tricky for a level designer to impliment it IMO. Connecting a switch to a checkpoint is BRILLIANT. Layer switching keys would make vehicle tracks more interesting and would be easy enough for creators to use. The sticker editor has always been A MUST IMO **One other thing I've always thought they should do is to reverse the USER-OBJECT menu list so that newly made creations are at the TOP and not all the way at the bottom. I HATE THAT! And also INVISIBLE MATTER which you can see the edges in Create mode only** Excellent suggestions LBPCreatorsClub. 5 stars and a response. | 2009-05-23 23:59:00 Author: mindphaser74 Posts: 349 |

There some nice ideas. Having the option for switches being connected to checkpoints iwould be just AWESOME and I also really like the sticker editor, "sharpen" tool and improved piston ideas. Although I think non-lethal gas would be pretty pointless and I would not like a sound record tool. Apart from moderation problems with it, some people would probably just abuse the tool by recording random, annoying jibberish. | 2009-05-24 22:44:00 Author: lk9988 Posts: 1077 |
Non-lethal gas... what's the point? xD Not worth it just for a few bits of decoration imo, people see gas and purposely try to avoid it, messing around with it would make it seem less threatening you could use it for a very sweet fog effect! | 2009-05-26 23:00:00 Author: kodymcq Posts: 281 |
Black hole tool - Once it's activated, anything it is attached to will disappear. Hide object (create mode only) - This should be great for people who have to edit things behind objects without having to delete loads of stuff. Invisible matter - Pretty much self explanatory. Glowing/light materials - Materials with a light value, and can be attached to switches. Could be useful for neon signs. Ice hazard - As seen in early previews of LBP. Snap rotation angle (create mode) - When you rotate an object, it should be able to snap to the number of degrees you've set. Centre offset (create mode) - Coupled with snap rotation, this would be great for creating things like clock faces. Teleport device - Go into one end, and come out into another part of the level. | 2009-05-27 01:00:00 Author: Entity Posts: 274 |
As for the whole "sharpness" thing, I was thinking about a sharp material. The rotary saws and shuriken are actually made of a material that we don't have access to. | 2009-05-27 04:13:00 Author: Tyler Posts: 663 |
Rope: Like the string but it's stronger and doesn't go through materials. If you make a strip of it, it will fall and land on the material. Not sure exactly what you mean by this. You mean like a rope just as a connector like a string? If so I think it'd be awesome if you could have a rope alone, and when you grab onto it you could climb up and down it. On the same subject it'd be cool if there was a way to climb up edges when your hanging, facing certain doom. | 2009-05-27 08:24:00 Author: TripleTremelo Posts: 490 |
I'd like a coloured smoke emitter, much like the rocket is now, but without the body of it. Colours availible are exactly the same as whats availible for lights. Would be great for adding ambience to a level and for puzzles I definetly agree with the checkpoint idea and the require all on grab switches, excellent ideas. I'd alos like to be able to set materials on fire, electrify them and turn them to gas by switch as well. A Lethalize switch!! | 2009-05-27 09:51:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
Some great ideas in here!! I'm especially diggin the gravity tool and lethalize switch ideas. I personally would also like to see an in game pop-up music creator tool that lets you compose your own short themes with the available sounds in your library. Edit: we know you can put stickers and decorations on jetpack and paintinator-emitters. How about an option that spawns the jetpacks and paintinators with the decorations still on it. | 2009-05-27 09:59:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |
Thanks all. But it would be nice if you could make your own thread about ideas rather than posting them in others posts. | 2009-05-28 17:09:00 Author: Unknown User |
Thanks all. But it would be nice if you could make your own thread about ideas rather than posting them in others posts. I think you mean "others topics" instead of "other posts"? And also, what's wrong with posting their ideas in here? | 2009-05-28 17:33:00 Author: Eldrazor Posts: 78 |
I'm just saying. I'm OCD about that kind of thing 0.o I take everything personally XD I guess I feel that they are trying to reform my ideas. Half of the ones he said I posted in this topic. | 2009-05-28 17:37:00 Author: Unknown User |
Well, it's worse if they reform your ideas outside of your topic, isn't it? At least it's inside YOUR topic now... | 2009-05-28 17:38:00 Author: Eldrazor Posts: 78 |
Eh. I guess. | 2009-05-28 17:40:00 Author: Unknown User |
Then why did you start a thread on this? If you don't allow people to add their own thoughts and ideas in a forum.... | 2009-05-28 18:09:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |
(this was regarding nonlethal gas... Why can't we just have multi-level quoting so we don't lose important context all the time?) you could use it for a very sweet fog effect! If I'm not mistaken - the current visual effect for gas is exactly the same whether it's on a thick layer or a thin layer... it doesn't have "volume" in any case - so the only difference between a thick layer of nonlethal gas and a thin layer of lethal gas is the gas wouldn't respond to objects "passing through" it on a layer behind... | 2009-05-28 18:10:00 Author: tetsujin Posts: 187 |
Did we not just resolve this issue? | 2009-05-28 18:11:00 Author: Unknown User |
