switch with directional timing

Archive: 10 posts

The idea is any switch that when you set it on directional, you can set the travel time on pistons, and wenches separately for each direction. I think it would be a good idea. I know I could use it quite a bit.2009-05-23 16:19:00

Everyone loves a wench. Personally, I love how often people misspell winches. Especially when they are called chains...

Yeah it's a very useful idea but if you want an piston to move faster in one direction than another, use a stronger wench to pull the piston fast. When pulling the wench overpowers the piston so you get fast movement. When pushing the wench will still extend fast but it can't push so the pistons move it slowly. Both piston and ench will be connected to the same direction switch

Realistically this only works for stiff pistons easilly but it sorts me out a lot of the time.

rtm223's strong chain weak piston combo is really powerful. With just that one trick my ability to create in LBP has probably tripled. It's a huge thermo saver when used with logic gates. In addition, it lets you do some really neat, multistage movements. Right now, I'm using it extensively in a level to create the illusion of power turning on and off. Rather than being a strict on/off, I use the chain/piston combo to make it appear that the power shuts off slowly. I do this with elevator type platforms. When the power is on, the piston causes them to rise. As the power begins turning off they slowly sink a bit. Then when the power turns off completely they slam shut. The normal rising and lowering is done with the piston, while the slamming shut is taken care of by the chain.2009-05-25 16:09:00
