Reset paintinator switches
Archive: 9 posts
I'm sure I've asked this before, but can't find it and maybe I dreamt it (does anyone else have LBP dreams?). I remember being confused by the answers at the time. So... I've seen lots of levels where you shoot a paintinator switch, an action occurs (door opens or, in the thing I want to happen, an emittor re-emits), and then it refills itself so you can shoot it again and repeat the action/re-emit. HOW!? The only thing I've come up with is emitting the object the paitinator switch is attached to but the doesn't let me re-connect the leads to all the things I need. Feel I'm missing an obvious trick. Help... | 2009-05-22 01:31:00 Author: Unknown User |
I'm not sure but I think you have to make it one-shot for what you want to do. I'll mess with this a little later if this doesn't work as I've never really tried this before. | 2009-05-22 01:41:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |
If it's a one-shot switch it'll refill. | 2009-05-22 04:06:00 Author: Loius Posts: 342 |
Cool, I was right . Oh yeah, also, if you connect a one-shot switch to a brain it "kills" it. | 2009-05-22 04:09:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |
The thing that seems to confuse people on this subject is that you can also set a paintinator switch to trigger after a certain number of shots. This is NOT the one-shot that you need to set. You can still set that portion of the switch to any number you like. The One-Shot option mentioned above is in lieu of: On-Off, Directional, or Speed. | 2009-05-22 04:14:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
Hmm yeah I didn't remember that there could be 2 different ways this could be interpreted, good call. | 2009-05-22 04:19:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |

do you mean, lets say it we're talking about a creature, lets say it dies in 20 shots, but you want it to jump at you after 15 shots, is that what you meant? Well, no... that's not what I was saying. But this could be done, if you wanted. Set your paintinator switch to 5 shots, and switch type to One-Shot and attach the switch to a counting mechanism. After the first three sets of 5, you make him jump, then after the last set, he dies. But what I'm saying is that there is a Shot-Quantity setting and a Switch-Type setting. Shot-Quantity can be set to whatever number of shots you like, but if you want the switch to reset after it is triggered, then you must set the Switch-Type to One-Shot (Directional, On-Off, Speed will not reset - it's actually a bit counter-intuitive). Bear in mind, I'm making up (paraphrasing, if you will) these tweak setting titles (Shot-Quantity and Switch-Type). I'm just working off my feeble old memory cells here. | 2009-05-22 06:00:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
This all sounds promising - will try later. Thanks all | 2009-05-22 16:24:00 Author: Unknown User |
