Time Machine Level
Archive: 22 posts
Hi, I was out of inspiration some time, but now i've got an idea! I was thinking of a time machine level. First you enter some sort of lab, where is a scientist who sais something like: ''You can take a look around here if you want, but don't touch anything!'' In the lab you see all sorts of strange experiments. then you come across a time machine, which you can enter. You enter it and it starts working. First it takes you to stone-age place or something (then you have to find the time-machine back) and then to a more future, destroyed city. For the end i'll see what i'll do, maybe you come back home, maybe an open end if I want to make another level. So, what do you think, good or rubbish :d please let me know if you have any suggestions. I think i'll post some images later too. | 2009-05-21 11:20:00 Author: ikbeneland Posts: 57 |
I've played some time machine levels. Some of them were pretty good. Do a search, and check them out for inspiration. | 2009-05-22 23:49:00 Author: smasher Posts: 641 |

Looking forward to that. I love the 'Time Machine' film ( the original , not so keen on the remake ) | 2009-05-27 15:03:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
Looking forward to that. I love the 'Time Machine' film ( the original , not so keen on the remake ) Now that's a great idea, a level based on that classic movie. I would love to see that timemachine recreated!! | 2009-05-27 15:07:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |
Ok Zwollie. I'm inbetween projects at the moment so I'll look for some good pictures and get right on making that time machine asap | 2009-05-27 17:05:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |

A time machine level deffinitley has a lot of potential already. And you pretty much hit it right with some of those eras. You deff have to do stone age, a future section; you can even have a cool terminator eske future where robots took over or aliens, something like that | 2009-05-27 17:38:00 Author: Hamsalad Posts: 2551 |
Lol, I was just thinking of something like this today as part of a series. Each episode was going to be based around another of the mad doc's inventions. I have some teleporters I built that I was going to use as the time machines. You're welcome to em if ya wan't them. I doubt I'll get around to doing it. | 2009-05-27 21:30:00 Author: Chicago51 Posts: 258 |
How about a collaboration guys. I know we can't do the online create yet but maybe we can each contribute objects or anything else useful to the level and ikbeneland could use them to make the level. How big are your teleporters Chicago51 ? If I manage to make a decent looking machine would it be possible to incorporate them into it so it looks like you're teleporting in the machine. Of course we'd have to keep an eye on how much thermo things take up as we don't want to leave ikbeneland with no room to make the level. What are your thoughts on this ? | 2009-05-27 21:46:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
deff want to use all similar materials / the same ones he'll want to use to make the level. The time machine has to have cool lights and sounds, and maybe even sneak in some rockets for steam action! | 2009-05-27 22:03:00 Author: Hamsalad Posts: 2551 |
I've got a level posted with a demo of the teleporters. They're based on using activated checkpoints. They're basic looking at the moment. It was the system i was testing. But i'm pretty good at getting things to work. So if you built a machine I could probably figure out a way to get it to work. | 2009-05-27 22:27:00 Author: Chicago51 Posts: 258 |
Yes, the time machne should really feel like a time machine, I guess that's the hard part... | 2009-05-28 20:33:00 Author: ikbeneland Posts: 57 |
Well if ya want help. Count me in. | 2009-05-28 21:10:00 Author: Chicago51 Posts: 258 |
Just by coincidence I noticed that the original film with Rod Taylor is on in the UK tomorrow. It's on SKY on the TCM channel at 3pm. I'll have to take a look at that to refresh my memory of the Time Machine and have a look at the detail of it and then get on building it. I had started doing it from some pics on the net but don't know how accurate they are so I'll take a look at the film to check before I get too far into the build. | 2009-05-29 00:54:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |

Time machine pretty much done now apart from a little tinkering. Chicago51 just had a look at it and provided a better gold looking sticker. If anyone else wants to see it just add me and look out for me in my pod. Just bear in mind i'm in UK. Just off to bed now as it's 4am. Old guys like me shouldn't really be up at this time lol. | 2009-05-30 03:59:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
